Now having said that, the choice to use particular words for certain menu items is beyond me. Representative examples include "pinched sausage", "jerk sauce", and "Tripple XXXtra Pepperoni". Now, maybe I'm just a dumb Okie and maybe pinched sausage is a delicacy up North. However, I am too fearful to Google the phrase, "Detroit pinched sausage." We stopped in to grab some Detroit style pizza and hadn't been before. This is located in the icehouse project. It's not a huge place but set up nicely. They have an herb garden outside which is nice. Started with the Paradiso which was nice and refreshing. He got the Kentucky summer and something else. He said they were good. Started with the saganaki flaming cheese. It was good and just a fun dish. He got the 4 square Detroiter pepperoni and I got the white pizza. Both were good! Well, we've been here 3 times now and it's left us with largely up and down experiences. The second time was pretty decent, no complaints other than dreadfully slow and tired service on a weekend during the lunch rush. The service here each time hasn't been great. Seems to be young folks who'd rather be anywhere else. Today's takeout however, was pretty disappointing. For starters, our cheese-bread was missing, well, the cheese! We got one last time and it was soooo good! The cheese had a great pull and excellent flavor. It was also in abundance. This time, the cheese sticks were just kinda hard and greasy, with a small amount of overcooked cheese in the middle only. Next, our pizza was missing the sauce. The xxl pepperoni is supposed to have a dollop of sauce in the middle, but they completely forgot it this time around. We were thinking even as a side to add ourselves would be great, but nope, so dry pizza is what we were left with. We did get one ranch as a side and one small sauce for the cheese sticks, but it was a bit hard to eat pizza without pizza sauce. Of course we didn't check our order until we got home as their boxes have to be punctured to open easily which also cools them off fast. So we just made do with what we had. As I mentioned the first time I reviewed it, this place is pricey. It's good pizza when it's right, but mistakes like this are a little harder to swallow when you're paying $50 for two small pizzas and cheese sticks. We won't be back for a while, especially with a more consistent competitor around like Rendezvous Pizza that serves the same type of pizza. YMMV. read more
