The education offered here made it possible for my husband to build a great clientele and start making a great living at a pretty young age after he discovered a traditional four year college education was not for him. He did so well, in fact, that he convinced me to become a barber also and I too went to NESOB. For the first time since I graduated college, I feel like I have valuable skills that get rewarded. I can live the dream of being self employed with a schedule I set myself. And I make more than I ever could muster with a four year degree in general biology. This school and the caring attention of its owners has improved my family's life and financial future and for that my husband and I will be forever deeply grateful. The owners, Mr. & Mrs. C push you to learn as much as you can while you are there, both about barbering and about work skills in general. They are tough teachers in the best way because they do their job out of caring and out of the desire that all of their students succeed and are as prepared as possible to start working. I have seen them give so much to their students, especially when those students really show the desire to learn and to succeed. I have one child and sometimes the poopy diapers cause my house to have a slight smell and that is with a garbage compactor with an air filter, I think if a place with 40x more poopy diapers smells a little funky once in great while any logical person would get it. 2. The teachers here really seem to care about my child. For example, my child is potty training and the teacher was so excited to tell me about a successful poop on the potty. They write up accident reports for things that I think are pretty minor-they take your child's well being seriously. 3. Communication is outstanding. I receive a daily note that includes how much my child ate for each meal, how long she slept, when she went to the bathroom, and a special note at the bottom usually letting me know what activity my child enjoyed for the day. A white board hangs at entrance of classroom listing the activities occurred for the day. There is also family facebook page communicating upcoming activities. And the director is very responsive to any concerns/questions. 4. It's educational. My daughter has come home with knowledge that I know we did not give her. Sometimes she will break out into a children's song that I totally forgot the words to and have to look up so I can sing along. My husband and I love the Learning Tree. If we ever had to relocate I would shed many tears over the loss of The Learning Tree.

I had previously had good experiences at hair schools, including Empire, so I booked a foil root…read moretouch-up to match the little bit of blonde I have in my dark hair, a deep conditioning treatment, and a haircut for 9:30. Unfortunately, this visit was extremely disappointing. After more than 5 hours, the foiling process still wasn't complete. While I understood my student was learning, there appeared to be very little instructor guidance. When I expressed concerns about the length of the appointment the instructor was dismissive and simply offered to rinse out the bleach and let me leave. I remained there beyond 6 hours and past closing. I was the last customer there. My toner was processed for only a few minutes, and my conditioning treatment and haircut were not completed. The instructor approved the work, and I was sent to pay with soaking wet hair. When I questioned why the remaining services couldn't be completed and voiced my unhappiness, the instructor was quick to threaten to call the police if I did not pay. The school's Director informed me I was not welcome back and stated that customers should expect appointments to last 7.5+ hours. The final result left me with uneven, yellow hair that did not resemble what we discussed. My roots were not properly blended, and I now need to spend over $300 to correct the color. Empire Beauty School demonstrated poor instructor oversight, poor communication, and a lack any sense of accountability.

I would not recommend going to Empire school as they like to support there employees who do drugs…read moreand also employees who drunk call students after school hours. While the staff does not act professional and still work, but they will kick students out of the school for not punching in and out of lunch accidentally. Empire said it is there policy and they are trying to get the students ready for the real world. Something is very backwards. I am told they are just accusations when students have seen the proof. Empire doesn't even investigate the employees. They sit there and just say it is accusations.
