I remember looking at my overgrown laurel hedge while he wrote down a term I had never heard "grown to sky". I said, "Great, as long as you cut a clean line at the top to keep our privacy from the neighbours. Before his crew came I sent an email explicitly stating I wanted the laurel hedge to be neatly trimmed at the top. I wasn't home when they did the work, my husband who knows nothing was. I returned home, the hedge looked like long, sickly bamboo, front hedge is crooked, ornamental grass was not trimmed as agreed upon and paid for. I called and honestly, I cannot remember a time in my life when somebody has yelled at me the way the owner did. He was screaming at me! We paid the bill. It wasn't cheap but we always pay our bills. While they worked on the job we had occasion to ask about certain things or request minor things, which they were very receptive to talking about and did their best to handle. Because they had given their names, it was easier to approach them when it was necessary, and they were receptive to our inquiries in a positive way. This is very important in my mind. They are careful not to stomp on the flowers and shrubs where they work (as best as they can, can't always be avoided) and do an excellent job of cleaning up and leaving the place clean when they are done.
