Arrived for our first lesson on a Sunday afternoon....no-one at office…read more. no one around except other riders...ask a rider, young man, where we were suppose to go. He directed us thru two barns to our instructor. She was nice , a little rough. but nice. She told our daughter to go pick a hat. What?! We had NEVER ridden english and had no idea what we were suppose to be looking for. But we picked one, which ended up being to big. She had our daughter get on, now our pony looked like a underfed old barely able to stand older pony. I felt very sorry for the little thing. We were lead around the entire barn area twice...then taken to the covered arena , where another lesson was being conducted and I think we intruded. After about 3 times around our instructor told our daughter that she had another student and she needed to get off. I was very very put off from this experience. I guess the western world is a little more friendly....or perhaps I chose the wrong English place for our first lesson. Needless to say I canceled our camp reservation. I think I can do as well as they did. I do NOT recommend this place.

We boarded there and were looking at buying a saddle from Kai, the owner and while trying to negotiate a price, he called my daughter a barn rat. There was also a lot of insanity around him not allowing people to leave with their horses once disgusted by his terrible manners. Literally tried blocking the exit until people threatened to call the police to remove their own horses! This man is unhinged, very unprofessional, and extremely rude.

I visited Southfork Ranch as part of a work group outing and honestly had no idea what to expect…read morebut I left genuinely impressed and entertained. This place is a legitimate piece of American pop culture history, and they do a great job bringing it to life. The guided tour takes you inside the actual ranch house, and it's more immersive than you'd think. The formal dining room with its crystal chandeliers, the bold red kitchen, the grand foyer staircase -- it's all right there, frozen in time like the Ewing family just stepped out for a moment. And yes, they have the room where JR was shot, complete with a chalk outline and crime scene markers. Campy? A little. Fun? Absolutely. Outside, the grounds are beautiful. White fences, open pastures, friendly animals wandering around with the iconic ranch house as the backdrop. There's also JR's silver Lincoln Continental on display in the museum, along with memorabilia and history from the show. Fair warning: this is a deeply generational experience. My older colleagues were absolutely in their element while some of the younger folks in our group needed a little context. But even without being a die-hard Dallas fan, there's enough to see and appreciate that everyone ended up having a good time. Great group outing, unique Dallas experience. If you're in the area, it's absolutely worth a visit.

Growing up in Europe, we watched the show later than audiences in the U.S., but I never missed an episode and absolutely loved following the Ewings' story. So when I had the chance to travel through Texas, visiting Southfork was at the top of my list. The visit exceeded my expectations. The ranch is perfectly set up for visitors - from the guided tour of the house, which is preserved and decorated exactly like it appeared in the show, to all the little details, including the cars the Ewing family used. Our guide gave a fascinating talk about the history of filming, the ranch's rental process, and behind-the-scenes stories that really brought the show to life. We also got to walk around the ranch, see the small horses or ponies, and browse a tiny gift shop. It was amazing to experience in person something I'd watched on TV for so many years - and on the other side of the continent, no less! The whole experience was nostalgic, charming, and genuinely fun. If you love Dallas or just want to see an iconic TV ranch in real life, Southfork is absolutely worth the visit.

Stunning! The place is run brilliantly by highly skilled people who not only care deeply for horses…read moreand animal welfare in general, but are also professionally trained to look after them. Sara is a qualified trainer and a national-level competitive rider. Once you enter the facilities, you know you're in great hands. From beginners to professional riders competing at top levels, they truly cater to everyone. Since my last visit, they've made further improvements to the facilities, and the quality of service is even better than before. I would definitely bring children here to learn the basics of horse riding and progress all the way to high-level competition. The staff can train riders at every stage, from novice to advanced, and they excel in both dressage and show jumping. They also bring in top trainers from out of town to ensure the best possible instruction at all times. A truly exceptional equestrian centre -- it has the warmth of home combined with the standards of high-level competition.

I could not recommend this place any less. They knew I was new to horses and gladly took advantage…read moreof me. They lied about the horse I bought from them - they said they got him from a cowboy down on his luck, but he actually was an auction horse. They told me he could go all day, and he went lame 6 weeks after I bought him, costing me THOUSANDS of dollars in specialist vet fees. Counting the price of the horse, I lost over$10,000 with my purchase. And then there was the boarding... I boarded my horse there for a couple months after I bought him, and his care was abysmal. There were so many flies that he got infections in both of his eyes from the flies laying eggs in them (according to my vet). They told me they'd administer his meds, but they didn't. My horse colicked from heat and dehydration (according to my vet) - there was NO clean water in the pasture. The pasture was a bunch of weeds with rusty old farm equipment where the horses could easily access. It flooded any time we had a heavy rain. The stalls were often dirty, and the barn often smelled of urine. There were so many rats in the barn; you could see them both day and night - even in my horse's hay bin. I could go on and on. The Pyrenes dog they had running lose all the time bit me and other people, and they never did anything about it. All of this for over $1000 a month in board fees. Do not just stay away - RUN AWAY from this barn.

They raised the rates 25% with only 25 days notice as opposed to the 30 required per their own contract. Nine months later, they raised them another 37% and gave only 25 days notice again. There were chickens and roosters that would walk around and the rooster would attack people. The care and stalls were steadily going down hill during that 9 month time that they raised rates as well. My horse wasn't getting his supplement. When I asked about it, I was assured the problem would get fixed. It did not. It was very much a "my way or the highway" type of place. If you didn't like what was happening, you were asked to leave. I know there were some people who truly appreciate their time there. I was not one of them. I can't recommend this place in good faith.
