My husband and I hired Woodart Kitchen of Tenafly to redo my kitchen and bathroom. It was not a good experience
-- Woodart didn't deliver on their promises to hit several milestones for the project and he was full of excuses. For example, when he missed a deadline for bathroom and we pressured him, he said "but you still have the original bathroom to use for now" and didn't even apologize or show any planning to finish the job.
-- He would not show up in our house for weeks after each payment, and only did so a few days before he was about to demand the next payment, and even then he would just hastily do the bare minimum. For example, in order to get a payment which was slated to take place after the kitchen appliances were fully installed, he would get his crew to come to the house unannounced, last minute (without our presence), opened up all the appliance packaging and barely put the appliances where they belonged between the cabinets, without hooking them up to power and gas line. He claimed this as hitting the milestone of "installing the appliances", which truly was not even half way done, and demanded a milestone payment - without power and gas supply, how were the appliances "fully installed"?
-- Cabinet installation could not be worse. The cabinets were bought from his store. Cabinet doors were warped and not leveled. There were multiple panels that were not flush. Again, when we asked him how he was going to fix them, he said "oh we are not finished yet. We will do some final adjustment later". After the delays we mentioned above, we simply didn't believe he would come back to adjust the cabinets (and in fact, he never did)
-- The bathtub spout leaked even before the bathroom was finished. For more than a month, we asked him to fix it, but he never did it.
-- The biggest sin was that he never applied for the permits for the work even though we clearly stated that we wanted the work to come with permits and final town inspection. We got hit with a stop work order from the town and had to open up the wall for inspection, when multiple violations were discovered. We asked him why he didn't get the permits, and he said "oh I thought I had applied for them...". He was in this business for decades, and now all of a sudden he said he forgot to apply for a permit, and forgot that a town inspection was required to close the job?? He fled and never came back to finish the job (and perform the repairs per the violations). We had to sue him ultimately to get our money back.
The owner Nick Sirico continuously covered up his mistakes with lies after lies. Surprisingly he's still in business, driving his blue Hummer pickup having fun in town. I had a feeling that he hired some unlicensed plumber to do his work, and that's why they had no clue how to fix the leak.
I do not recommend Woodart. read more
