She insinuated my 10 year old was breaking them on purpose . They would break when he wasn't even eating it's obviously an issue of technique or the way his teeth are shaped . 2 years later and $4000 ..: we are out of The time and money . His teeth are still turned sideways , and it is obvious they can't be bothered to find a solution. I would have been happy to extend treatment or try to figure out why they keep breaking , but none of that was offered. The solution was to take them all off and send us out the door , and keep my $4000 When I asked if wee could speak to Dr Ashby , she refused . They offered me $200 credit if we DONT take the retainer , obviously I declined the retainer and the insulting refund . We will be filing a small claims case in the morning . We have an appointment with another local orthodontist tomorrow afternoon, hopefully we can get to the bottom of what they were doing wrong . I suggest you save yourself the headache and the money and find another practice.

I believe, the treatment here benefited my son more so than if we would have stayed at the old place. I can't say enough good things about this Orthodontics practice. They have another location in Virginia Beach which we also visited on few occasions. People who work here seem very happy at work despite overwhelming amount of patients in the afternoons. She was a complicated case so make sure that you get a thorough estimate, including the parts that may not be included by orthodontic care and have your funding set up prior to starting this endeavor. Everyone's process is different. I'm sure but we really enjoyed the staff here although there are a few quirks they were still very helpful and professional. I would recommend sitting with a nervous child and bringing a weighted lap pad. We had a preexisting relationship with Dr.Boyd. My husband has done work for her and he's been her…read morepatient for dental work. Another member of her family was near and dear to me through my early adulthood and through the loss of our son 6 years ago. My husband recently had a crown come off which uncovered significant decay. This was work she had previously done for him. He went in to see what could be done. He needed an extraction, bone graft and resin. He did not want a full work up as he wasnt having issues with any other teeth. Dr.Boyd does not take our insurance so we pay out of pocket and he wanted to keep things reasonably priced. He left that day with a price to get the tooth fixed and made a brief statement of "hey let me know if you guys need any work done and we could work out a barter". Again...preexisting relationship, he's done work for them before. Not really a weird thing to say from one business owner to another. He calls a few days later to schedule the work after looking into some holistic dental options and decided he would rather go with who he knew. They weren't able to get him in for a month but he committed to scheduling anyway. He asked out of consideration of their business what the cancellation policy was in the event he found someone to do it sooner should the pain worsen. This is a tooth that is infected with no crown to cover it. They immediately met him with a refusal to schedule because "he has another dentist". He explained he doesnt have another dentist but was simply stating that in the event the tooth gets worse he may need to get in sooner somewhere and wanted to be considerate ofntheir cancellation policy. The girl on the phone stated she "did not believe him and they werent going to see him as a patient at all anymore." She was incredibly unprofessional and ugly. In any other professional setting she would have been fired but this was Dr.Boyds relative. I went up to the office in hopes to speak with her or Dr.Boyd and remedy whatever miscommunication had occurred. I ended up speaking with the male that works the front desk. They painted my husband in a such a demeaning light because of his barter statement and unwillingness to have all of his teeth worked up. He is one of the most honest, kind, filled with integrity persons you'll ever meet. A successful and well liked business owner. When I went to the office I honestly thought there could have been miscommunication between the relative and Dr.Boyd who supposedly supported the discontinuation of seeing my husband. I found out there was none and it was in fact decided by Dr.Boyd. I remained very kind and calm because thats how you should treat people. The man at the front desk would not look me in the face. He wouldn't answer what he meant by "muddy legal waters". I asked what they expected someone in pain to do if Dr.Boyd can't get to them soon enough because the response on this date was literally we refuse to see you as a patient anymore ever, but it had already been decided they would not see him or justify or reason anything else. We have been wildly caught off guard by this experience. It honestly felt like they elevated themselves above my husband. Like they cared more about lining their pockets than the pain the patients are in or honoring peoples medical choices for themselves. This has not been our experience before so understand that you could also be treated this way at some point. Regardless we're relieved to uncover this truth so we can find somewhere else with more integrity and compassion for their patients.

The next group does all the same chargeable tasks and procedures then sits you down to set up payment plan Dr Boyd's depth measurement on the gums were twice what The next office came up with, although I was assured that I would need deep cleaning and regular cleaning for the rest of my life....and an appointment can be set when payment plan is signed,but not sure how much insurance is going to cover...scam It would be a total of 6 months by the time I would make it in to the chair for a cleaning. My teeth are fine. Somebodies have collected insurance payment but offered no real service to patient. This feels a lot like a scam We shall see if this gets removed

The girl on the phone was very rude & they "banned" me from the location because i said i didn't want to come back to this office. I only found out while trying to schedule an appointment at the greenbrier location.I spoke with the manager and settled the issue. TODAY: I called the Greenbrier location Friday to set an appt to have my retainer checked, they scheduled me for Monday (today) and i asked to confirm it's at the greenbrier location, i called this morning to confirm appointment time. I drive 25 minutes here and am told all ortho appointments are at suffolk location now. Nobody told me. The number on google that i called is for the greenbrier location and when you go through the phone prompts you choose which location you want, i chose greenbrier. The greenbrier location is very friendly, but again they don't do orthodontics any longer. I don't know if it's organization that is lacking, communication, or if this is just how things are done here but i am not a happy customer. Nobody seems to care about the inconvenience caused either! I've wasted too much time and money here!

For example, I called to share a concern about a rescheduled appointment, our original appointment was canceled because of sick hygienist. When the associate took my call her tone relayed that she was not interested in hearing me out or making adjustments to remedy our inconvenience. So, instead of continuing with the call I asked for her email. The office associate told me her email and said it is spelled like "mascara" but with an L. What if I couldn't spell mascara.

I decided to get a second opinion and Bivins was able to correct my case 3 underbite with just braces. I am extremely impressed with Bivins and recommend it to anyone who is interested. The building is very clean and there is a starbucks machine in the waiting room for tea and coffee. I enjoyed using these services. On top of all of this the ladies that tighten the braces and do the changing of bands were all amazing. I had Vicky for a majority of my appointments and really enjoyed her company and professionalism. Overall worth the entire experience.
