I have moved around the cities a lot but I still drive to Eagan to see Dr. Bjerke. The entire office has been with him for a long period of time. I feel that if the employees stay that says a lot. I have had a lot of ups and downs and I feel he really tries to recommend options to give you a choice in the cost you have to spend. He never is pushy with any sales. Tells you what needs to be done, make recommendations and the decision is yours. After 40 years with Dr. Bjerke, when he retires it will be difficult to find a new dentist. His first office manager was great. She started out as a hygienist and then took the office manager position. She retired I was sad. I have been reading some of the other reviews. I see most of the reviews are complaints regarding the office manager that came on board about 10 years ago. I agree with their comments. She can be snarky, rude, unfriendly and in my opinion has an off putting personality. However, the dental staff and Dr. Bjerke are not like that at all. It is too bad that she is the first person people see. It doesn't do the office Justus. Any way a patient for 40 years overall I have been very please with the treatment I have received.

I was at my appointment today for a cleaning and a check-up. At my last years' appointment I was given the full series of x-rays, so I was surprised when they informed me that I needed X-rays again this year. I informed them that I did not want X-rays again. (Note: most insurances that I have had do not allow x-rays in such a short time period. I presently am not insured.) I was then informed that they would not treat me. I have never before heard of a dentist who would refuse service. I have always paid my bill upon completion of service. They just wanted to add on an unnecessary service and give me more unnecessary radiation. This does not seem like an ethical business practice.

The service provided is very personalized, they spend as much time as you need answering questions - never just rushing you in & out like a fast food drive thru. I love that this office uses more natural tooth cleaning powder that not only tastes good but doesn't burn your mouth - it's a natural formula without the synthetic ingredients/preservatives. Dr.Hatcher is a wealth of knowledge, he is very friendly, caring, open, and WELCOMES questions!!! They take digital photos of your teeth & can show/explain to you everything that is happening in your mouth during the procedure ( should you want to know) - this is such a breath of fresh air compared to ALL the other dentists I have had service from. Another amazing thing about Dr.Hatcher is that he really cares about helping you PRESERVE YOUR OWN TEETH, by this I mean he educates you on what materials would be ideal for your fillings/procedures & why. for example, former dentists had always used "composite" aka plastic fillings on my teeth since I didn't want amalgam/mercury, unfortunately I never was informed that if you get this type of filling on a load-bearing molar it will not last very long (5years - maybe), which stinks because most insurance doesn't cover very much of a composite filling and then you end up needing them replaced every 2 years until your teeth will need crowns. Thank god I found Cedar Cliff at this point (only one partial crown needed) - some of my teeth had been filled 6x!!! WHY DIDN'T ANY OF THE OTHER "PROFESSIONALS" NOTICE THIS CYCLE???!!! So here I am getting the porcelain inlays I should've originally gotten, but it's costing a small fortune ($500-$900 per tooth). If I had gotten these inlays in the first place I would have significantly more tooth left then I do today - and I had already spent a small fortune paying for fillings that didn't work since my insurance only covered amalgam. Summary: Go to Cedar Cliff, or another holistic-minded dentist - you will retain much more tooth & be more informed about many different aspects to caring for your teeth.

The office is very inviting, clean, and organized. The staff has been top notch throughout all of my communication and visits so far. Major shout out to Jenna, who went out of her way to welcome me, learn about my needs/anxieties, and make sure that I felt at home and safe. She even offered local recommendations since I'm newer to the area. My favorite part of the visit was that they offered a menu of items to make me feel more comfortable in the chair! I chose a stress ball for this visit, but might choose additional items on future cleanings! Why not make it feel like a spa visit? HUGE shout-out to my hygienist, Eriel!! She was probably one of the best hygienists I've ever had. She was non-judgemental, sweet, kind, explanatory, and made sure I was doing well and comfortable throughout the visit. We had great conversation, and I felt like she had genuine interest in making sure I was in a good spot. I'd highly recommend her! Dr. Heidi Smith, was also very friendly and helpful during my exam! Lastly, I think they did an amazing job of being upfront and honest about cost throughout my visit. Anything not covered by insurance was very clearly articulated and I felt like I had full control of whether or not I said yes or no to the options. The dentist was impatient and rude to both my child and husband. They had a movie on for him and when he said he couldn't see it, the dentist responded, "we aren't going to compete," and shut it off. Nervous for the visit, they attempted to give him laughing gas. The mask was uncomfortable and the dentist snapped, "stop it! You're fine!" My husband expressed his concern about moving forward as my son was still visibly upset and stressed after several minutes of laughing gas. She said that he'll calm down after receiving novocaine. As soon as she applied the first needle, he screamed and started to flail. She held him down until my husband said to stop, that it wasn't safe with these conditions. Had she been more patient and talked calmer with my son, he may have trusted her more and the filling could have been done. Now he is numb for no reason. I called the dentist and she tried to tell me that SHE explained it wasn't safe while that upset, except it was MY husband who urged her to stop. She should not be considered a family or children's dentist. We will never be back.
