My boyfriend and I decided to come here for dinner. We haven't been here In a couple of years. The place wasn't busy for a Thursday. Which was fine. When we got there my boyfriend was cold and asked one of the busboys can he turn down the AC. Scott (I think that was his name) was our server. Very nice and pleasant. We order cocktails. I had the Wood Espresso Martini. My boyfriend had the Blush and Rouge. Both drinks were amazing. For starters, we share the Caprese Salad (yummy). For our main, I had the Rigatoni Bolognese. He had the Slagel Chicken Breast. Both main dinners were good. We have been here before and ordered the Wood Burger and that's good too. We finished with Tiramisu OMG that was good too. The music was perfect. Not too loud playing a Chill Mix. My boyfriend and I can hear us talking without the music being loud. Overall it was a great experience and we will be back.

We celebrated Valentine's Day at Woods Chicago, and I reserved our table through OpenTable, which required a credit card to secure the reservation. Food: 5/5 We kicked off the night with 2x35-1 cocktails, the drink was refreshing and well-balanced. For appetizers, we had the Blue Fin Tuna Crudo. The flavors were light and vibrant, we enjoyed every single bite. For mains, we ordered: Wood's Dry Aged Steak Frites: Cooked to perfection with a tender, flavorful steak and crispy, golden fries. It is beautifully executed. KFC (Korean Fried Chicken): The chicken was crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and packed with savory flavors. The sauce is great paired with lettuces. Service: 5/5! The staff made sure our glasses were always full and checked in regularly to ensure we were enjoying our meal. Despite the busy holiday, everything arrived promptly. Ambiance: 5/5 The ambiance was cozy with dim lighting and a warm, inviting atmosphere (Even it is snowing outside). Price: 4/5 Price is fair for the food we ordered.

Surprisingly some of the best fried chicken I've had. The burger wasn't bad either, but the friend chicken is definitely a must. We came near open so it was pretty quiet. The food came quickly and the staff was nice. No complaints here.

Intimate dinner spot with great ambiance and an interesting menu. We went for a Sunday dinner to celebrate an anniversary, and this was the perfect place. Parking was difficult to find, but we did eventually find paid street parking a block away. Low lighting and cozy seating added to the ambiance. Service was great, though a bit slow. Food was cooked perfectly and we each really enjoyed our meals.

This is a cute restaurant/bar in Boystown, right on Halsted! Great brunch, but a small menu for entrees and they were out of two starters when we ate-the photos are the brunch entrees available. The service was great but disappointed that I didn't find out about the auto 20% gratuity until after I already tipped on my own, doubling the tip amount--the drink prices are boarder line insane ($18 for a Bloody Mary).

Wow. I don't know where to start. We have been to this restaurant many times and always had a great time. However, this past experience has been unbelievable. The manager Josephine Ho is extremely rude and we would NEVER return here even if paid to go. My husband and I were in Chicago for my mother's funeral. We went to the restaurant to escape the emotions I was experiencing. I also was battling flu like symptoms. We were only at the restaurant 10 minutes and I was feeling very ill and told our waiter that I needed to leave. We didn't even drink our drinks or get our appetizer. We asked the server to wrap the appetizer and cancel the entrees. He agreed. The next day my spouse realized that we were charged $202.30 -- the complete meal. We were never offered to take the entrees with us and we were charged and also charged a gratuity on the meals. I called several times and Josephine was never around. Then I emailed her and this was the response I received... Hi Bryan, I was the manager on duty during your dine with us that evening. I was informed by my staff, your server, that either you or your husband was heavily intoxicated during the first 10-mins of your seating. I gave the staff the okay to pack your food to go, since you asked to leave, but a refund was not able to be initiated because the food was already made. Please do not accuse my staff of including gratuity for himself as there was a signed receipt in which we have kept records of and we have camera recordings of you signing the check. For that reason, we are not refunding you back your dinner and you are no longer welcome at our establishment. I'm sorry about your personal hardships, but do not ever accuse my restaurant of "being unfair and unethical". If you are seriously experiencing financial hardships, I would recommend not going out in the first place such as "Miller's Pub" or our restaurant for that matter. Our check averages per guest have never been a surprise to anyone, and if you are a frequent diner you should've been aware of this. Best regards, Josephine Ho -- We were NOT intoxicated and that's not why we had to leave. I was physically ill with the flu and incapable of staying in the restaurant. I can't believe that someone could be that inhumane to not realize the grief I've been experiencing the past week. Plus we had to buy last minute tickets to go to Chicago for the service, help pay for the service etc. ALL we wanted was a refund for the entrees and the gratuity that was charged on the entrees we NEVER received. Probably around $100. This is the WORST experience that I've ever had and on top of it she tells us that we were being taped on camera without our permission or notification. Unbelievable. They should have a notice on the door or something stating such. Regardless -- we will NEVER go back to this restaurant and I would advise you to do the same. Rude. Rude. Rude.

We made reservations for brunch, and got seated right away. We started off with a Bloody Mary and an order of their beignets. The Bloody Mary was delicious and perfectly made, with a spicy kick to it. The beignets here were good, but not even close to what a beignet is. These were more like donut holes. My wife ordered their Fried Chicken & Biscuit. The chicken was perfectly fried and covered in country gravy and hot sauce. It was served with a side of beef fat fried potatoes. These were addicting to eat. I ordered their Huevos Rancheros. This dish came with two fried eggs with queso fresco and pico de Gallo on top and two tortillas with beans on the bottom. It was also served with the same beef fat fried potatoes. Overall the dish was very tasty.

I have to be honest here. I was disappointed because we came for the shortribs based on online reviews, but they did not have this dish. CONS: We decided to stay and tried the beef bourguignon, but it was terrible. Literally, it was not good at all. It was not tender, the flavor was not good, it was nasty. No other way to say it. I hope management sees this and takes it off the menu. Both of us felt it was very bad, so it wasn't a one-off. Maybe it's an acquired taste? Idk PROS: The good part was that the waiter told management that we were not happy with the dish (we did not ask him to get/tell mgmt), and they took one entree off of the bill. They also gave use a free order of beignets, which were delicious. The customer service here is awesome, and the staff and management should be commended for their efforts. We did not ask for anything free or for any order to be removed from the bill, so their initiative was notable. Because of the great customer service, we will be back to try something new, and will update this review at that time.

Every time I come here I taste something utterly AMAZING. This time it was the shrimp in this pasta and the escargot. I want to describe exactly how amazing it was but the dishes change pretty frequently and everything is absolutely delicious. All the flavors of every dish compliment each other so well and just bring a sense of nostalgia with every bite. I make sure to come to Wood every time I'm back in town so anxiously waiting until my next visit! Food: 10/10 Service: 7/10 Experience: 6/10 Value: 7/10

We were in Chicago for our daughter's recent college graduation ceremony and needed a nice place to celebrate. Wood looked amazing on Yelp and it didn't disappoint. We had reservations for 5 on a Friday evening and happy we had a chance to dine at Wood. Food: To feed our hungry party of five we ordered a number of small and large plates for our table to share. Each dish was excellent with the standout dishes being the Confit Duck Leg, the Pork Duo, and Escargot. We were able to introduce our daughter's roommates to the Duck and Escargot which they'd never experienced before and they really enjoyed them. They also had a wide variety of wine, craft, cocktails, and spirits that really enhanced our experience. Service: Great service from arrival to final course. Our server guided us through the appropriate number of small/large plates for our party and made excellent suggestions on pairings. Wait staff checked on our party frequently ensuring our evening went very smoothly. Atmosphere: Loved the space and we were able to get an outdoor table with perfect weather. Enjoyed dining on their patio which also let us people watch as folks enjoyed a pleasant Friday evening. Value: Good value on both food and drinks with prices for just about all budgets. Based on the quality of ingredients, presentation, and service, the cost of the meal was more than reasonable for a special occasion. Overall: Great location, delicious dishes, and solid service would bring me back to Wood if we find ourselves back in the area.

We had a reservation for 6:45pm on a Friday evening. When we arrived it was crowded so we were thankful we made a reservation. Half of our group ordered from Wood's restaurant week menu and the other half ordered from the regular menu. We appreciated the fact that Wood did not require our entire party to choose from either the restaurant week or regular menu. I personally ordered from the restaurant week menu and chose the escargot, pork, and strawberry shortcake. Everything I ordered was delicious - I was so full that it was hard for me to finish my dessert! Side note - my friend ordered the steak tartare and that was also super delicious! Overall great food, drinks, and service! I'm definitely thinking of coming back to try their Wednesday happy hour special.

The staff were super friendly too and gave us some awesome recommendations, which definitely helped because there were so many things I wanted to try. I ordered the Harissa Shakshuka, it came with roasted peppers, onions, tomatoes, garbanzo beans, goat cheese, and two poached eggs, served with sourdough toast. When it came out, the presentation immediately caught my attention. The two poached eggs were sitting right on top of this beautiful, rich sauce, with the goat cheese scattered throughout. Once I cut into the eggs and that runny yolk mixed into everything underneath... wow. The flavor was outstanding. The tomatoes and roasted peppers gave the dish a deep, slightly sweet and savory base, while the harissa added a warm, smoky heat that slowly built with each bite. The garbanzo beans were soft and tender, adding this really nice texture. And the sourdough toast was perfect for this. I could scoop up the sauce, egg yolk, beans, and peppers all in one bite. That's when the dish really came together. This was a seriously delicious breakfast. Every bite had something going on, and I'd definitely order it again.

The food was INCREDIBLE. Every dish I had was extraordinary and there were numerous moments where the patrons dining around me were audibly shocked how good the food was. The hybrid service model is a bit unusual, but not unnavigable by any means and I believe it allows the restaurant to be much more efficient. What was astonishing to me is how impactful the food was. The patrons around me were ordering drinks, appetizers, entrees, then desserts with such joy and anticipation for the next course. For food, we ordered the Parsons Big Dipper Platter, the three-piece fish fry, and Cindy's coleslaw. Let's start with the best part of the meal -- Cindy's coleslaw. It was creamy, flavorful, and exactly how coleslaw should be. The three-piece fish fry was tasty as well, although the batter was a bit too thick for my liking. The biggest disappointment was the Parsons Big Dipper Platter. According to the menu, it included hush puppies, chicken nuggets, and fried shrimp. Unfortunately, when the platter arrived, there was no shrimp included. We brought it to the waiter's attention, and only then were we informed they had run out of shrimp. It would have been nice to know that before ordering. It's surprising for such a busy restaurant to run out of an item that's featured on the menu. As for the service, unfortunately it was poor and inattentive. We constantly had to flag our waiter down anytime we needed something. Overall, the atmosphere was great, but the service and food inconsistencies made the experience disappointing. Not sure if we'll be returning.

The atmosphere here is open, modern, and pretty eye catching, we all heard a few negative comments about brunch here and rather than just taking words of advice we came anyways. To be honest we should've went elsewhere, the only thing about the food that actually seemed to have any flavor was the fries and even they were a little salty like my wallet when we left LOL The Jumbo (not so much) Lump Crab Benedict at $25 was honestly boring lacking any flavor also it didn't even come with potatoes I ended up sharing my Lincoln Park Turkey Club that was good but even it was pretty basic at $21, the Burger at $21 literally looked like something off the kids menu the bun was bigger than the patty LOL and the Blackened Chicken Caesar at $19 was more like an appetizer size and the chicken at least it was juicy not dry. Other reviews about brunch here seem to be about the same and honestly I think it's funny they don't even try to elevate their food when so many say about the same things. So why bother fixing anything when it's just trendy and flavorless Their brunch is mediocre but apparently dinner is where it's at.
