When I arrive to pick up car there were CRAP options. 2. I had to choose a VW Tiguen which was dirty. I cleaned it myself! 3. I returned to car Sunday after hours(best part of rental). I wanted to pay in cash which is not allowed UNTIL you drop off but they were closed. SO I came back Monday to pay cash. The mgr should have told me exact amount only is accepted. But he didn't. A) The staff made us wait (there were 3 people waiting)! I had to knock on their office door bc we were waiting more than 10 min. B) I paid in cash but they had no change. The sales associate had NO clue they require exact change if paying cash (ahhh hello, learn that in training??) So I ran around the area trying to find change because they had none in their safe (yah, right!) The only good thing about this location is being able to return after hours. Bottom line the staff here needs more training and they should have more car options especially for reservations made online to meet customer expectations!

Hertz Paramus failed to properly close my rental, continued pursuing charges and return demands,…read moreand sent repossession-related notices even after I repeatedly contacted Hertz and obtained another rental through the same program. They had access to the account records, internal notes, and recorded calls, yet failed to investigate or correct the problem before it escalated into months of billing disputes and court proceedings. This was not one harmless mistake. It was a repeated failure to communicate, document, mitigate, and take responsibility. Any customer dealing with this location should save every agreement, email, screenshot, and call record. A problem Hertz creates can quickly become the customer's burden to disprove. They charged me over two grand for three days in a rental, luckily the court ruled in my favor because they even sought legal fees from me. Incredibly risky place to do business, I fronted the charges without issue for a month, and they still treated me as if I was the problem. Up until the judge ruled in my favor and in favor of my damages. Hertz will exert control over your bank regardless of what you say or do, so be careful!

The they gave me an auto that had only a 1/4 tank of gas, it was dirty and the tire pressure light came on within 48 hours. I then added air to the tires and the light would not go off. Additionally, the wiper fluid was almost empty. I called at 10 am today to get a replacement car since my tire pressure being low would make the car unsafe to drive. The manager stated they did not have any SUVs but he would try to locate another one and get back to me when he had one. I never heard back from him as of 7pm now the location is closed for the day. This company needs to monitor their management, especially the Route 17 South location in Paramus, NJ. If the manager doesn't follow up on things chances are the staff will not.

What I can say about the Westwood office: I went through a difficult time - I had surgery prior to renting - I was traveling from Maine and a few days before leaving for NJ - my car got hit and totaled. I recovered from surgery with complications - without a car to get anywhere once able to drive. The kindness, the thoroughness and patience that everyone at this office who helped me had was beyond 100 percent. I know them by name: Kayler, Kahlia, Eric, Roman and Brenna. They were INCREDIBLE and I will always rent from them. Shout out to Chelsea in Exeter and Ryan in Portsmouth - but everyone (whose names I may not know) deserve kudos for excellent customer care. I expected minimum professionalism but this rudness and attitude was at another level right from the start. First I when I pointed out existing damages to the car, the rep simply told me it's in the system and I should not worry. So when I personally took pictures and wrote on the paper contract he seemed very annoyed. Then the car was dirty outside as well as the string cigarett smell which he said it was treated. I needed the car so I rented the smoke smelly grey Nissan Rogue. When I got home, the smoke smell was so bad that I called the national customer service to get exchanged for another car. After 2 days, I returned the car for a cleaner car without the smoke stench, again the rep. men yells out that he will check the car and yells to meet him inside when I simply told him the gas was filled. He seemed annoyed and talks with rudness and anger at some point. I hope the mgr. Or corporate retrains them about how customers should be talk to. I even sense ehtnic discrimination the way two male representatives spoke to colored person. Deeply disappointed at the rude service men. I do not recommend this rental location at all.
