We disenrolled my son after only two months at Lightbridge Academy Westfield. Honestly, we would…read morehave done it sooner if it weren't for their 45-day policy, and we regret not pushing to pull him out ASAP. The number of issues we had in such a short time was horrendous. My son was in the mobile infant room. First, at the open house, there was no communication about the children's daily schedule, and the overall presentation was unprofessional. The teachers read off a paper and gave us no instructions on drop-off/pick-up routines. Almost daily, my son's lunch dishes were scattered throughout his bags, lost, or we took home another child's materials. We packed lunch and snacks daily. However, my son was continuously fed snacks from the school without my permission, and when I would bring it up I was assured they were not. But at pick up, they would tell me he enjoyed the school snack today. The staff in the room was unprofessional. They were using the iPad for personal searches, the pictures they sent home were blurry or did not always include our child, and they were not warm and friendly to us. The app was never accurate, and we were rarely updated on the amount of food he was eating. If this was brought up, we were told the app was down. But then magically fixed moments later. The communication between the teachers was awful. Their tone towards us and our son was rude, condescending, and it often felt like they did not like him. Because of these attitudes, we did not report the small issues for fear of retaliation against our son. Unfortunately, these are only the small issues, but towards the end, there were issues of neglect. In my son's last week at Lightbridge, he was sent home twice with a diaper that was clearly not changed in a long time. Each time it was about 4 hours in between. They would change him, give him lunch, put him down for a nap, and wait an hour or so after he woke up to change him again. On his last day, he had such a bad rash that he was struggling to walk. Not a single teacher in the room noticed. It is hard to tell if they don't care or are disorganized. However, changing a baby after a nap is common sense. When we called to complain (for the sake of other children), Olive gave us a run-of-the-mill response with no remorse. We highly recommend that you do not send your child here.

I have nothing but wonderful things to say about the Lightbridge Academy in Westfield, NJ. The…read moreteachers and administration have been so pleasant to work with and so welcoming. The safe and clean environment is a perfect setting for our daughter to learn and to thrive and there are constant activities throughout the day to keep her stimulated and active. Additionally, they have tons of varying activities that center around a weekly theme to really hone in on the subject and help children understand the dynamics. For us, Lightbridge Academy was the perfect choice for our child.

They are apart of the nationwide program. which means anyone from any y is basically allowed. last 2 visits have been horrible. our first time which was a month ago. they wasted our time. made sign the same waiver 4 times. while a man was eyeing us up and down the entire time. which as 2 diverse kids in a not so diverse town. wasn't quite comfortable. then the man soon tells us only adults in the gym. Which was a complete lie because there were many kids of different ages. and they finally allowed us in after everyone left. but then yesterday. So so rude. Same group but i got there early, so they give ME no problem, except the eyeing. So after an hour i go into town to get some food. i meet my friends, and we were gone no more then 30-40 minutes. They "let" me through but give my friend a hard time. we needed the waiver SIGNED again. his parents are busy, and the last time they said we can use a guardians email as long as they over 21. but the lady gets really defensive. And starts saying no you can't. But the same man was there both times and witnessed it both. getting into a particular stance as if we were going to try to attack someone. while i'm trying to explain to peggy, she interrupts and calls over a very disrespectful MADELINE. and says "these kids don't understand anything and won't listen" Ma'am we listened but we tryna explain you something. so madeline comes and says "we don't need to answer anything, they can leave". i try to keep my cool but honestly it bothered a lot. she gets all defensive and starts being rude. while we are simply just trying to play basketball. so she continues with her rudeness. and threatens us with a ban. While the man is looking all dumb, like i wasn't here an hour ago and says "you can go into the open gym, because your from a different YMCA it's a recent law." sir i was there literally an hour ago and i know he saw me before because he called us out and even said he knew where we from. so we walk out and i come back in and ask for their names. Peggy, and then MADELINE, gave me a hard time. but her name badge is clear. so now i will be calling them and filing complaints due to the disrespect and stupidity. i'm honestly never coming to such a horrible staffed gym.

Prior to the pandemic, my oldest daughter had attended the school, so I am able to compare. My first daughter's pre-pandemic experience there was good, however my second daughter's experience was terrible. It started with a few months after enrolling her there I found out for two months they had been serving her the frozen lunch I was sending her to school with. They were no longer heating up lunches in the microwave like my first daughter. I found out from my second daughter telling me why she didn't eat her lunch "it was too cold." For two months they had been giving her frozen chicken nuggets and it was my fault (after confronting them) because we did not see the message that lunches were no longer being heated. Next, when I would pick up my daughter the teacher, or helper was coming out and saying she had a bad day today. I was clueless until after a few weeks of this she refused to go back (and I mean refused). She had lost all confidence to go anywhere or see any strangers. It was terrible. We took her to see help and we were told that she had gone through a regression, like a three-year-old going back to a one and a half year old. Confronted the school and they said it was her fault, she doesn't listen and goes around the classroom. That sounded like all three year old to us. We asked the school for her teacher to meet us and show affection to her, but she was cold to her. We felt so bad for her we took her out of the school. It took us months to bring her confidence and self esteem back. When I grew up a three year old was accepted unconditionally and supported to stand on their own. Not so at this place.
