A few years back, a math teacher told my class that the best teachers were those who failed and learned to succeed in their domain and have come back to teach the same subject. Not verbatim, but the sentiment is the same. I never truly understood this until after I joined the AE2 Learning Center.
They offer a variety of tutoring services, including SAT prep. For the first time in my life, I decided to do supplementary studying with the work I was already doing at school, because when I took the PSAT in 10th grade I wasn't satisfied with my score. I wanted to improve.
The tutors at the center are mostly previous students of the center themselves. Which means they are experienced. They know the tricks and techniques to pass the test. But more importantly, they know what we are going through emotionally and mentally. They know how stressed we can get before the big exam and how determined we are to pass no matter what. They also know that we have to juggle SAT practice, regular school work, and extracurriculars. There have been times when I'd ask them if I could be given a little less homework one week or sessions when I'd come in with unfinished homework because I didn't have the time to work on them. And not once have I been faced with a disappointed tutor. Instead they'd give me time to work on those assignments at the center during my sessions. They're very patient.
They also understand that each one of us functions differently and requires different amounts of practice at different times of the day. The head of the center Dr. Ravi constantly says one thing: "Whatever you want." Whether we ask to come in extra hours or do extra practice and take extra tests, he and the center are always happy to help us to become successful. At the same time, they also push us even more each time, exposing us to harder problems to amplify our skills and scores.
Every class and practice test was worth it. I recently got back my test scores for my first attempt at the actually SAT. In a matter of months, my score increased a total of 230 points.
