I had used a technician named Julie last time I was there and she did a great job. I called today for an appointment with Julie and was told she was not available. The person I spoke with was not fluent in English. I went: Hoping for the best. First of all, there was only customer in the place at 3 p.m. Then the quasi-manager assigned a male technician. I told her I prefer a woman, because men are too rough. I was assured that this guy was gentle; no problem. My bad: I should have walked out right then. The manicurist spoke only a few words of English. The pedicure went ok, but the manicure not so much. He did not do a good job AND WAIT FOR IT, cut the cuticle on my thumb so badly that it bled A LOT. By this point, I just wanted to get the heck out of there. I love paying $100 to be wounded while getting a BAD manicure. On the way out, I asked the quasi-manager what is going on, and why can't I get Julie to do my nails? The actual situation is that the business has been sold and all of the previous employees quit. That is why no Julie and no customers. DON'T USE THIS PLACE. And to the new owner: hey, you are doing a great job: no employees and no customers. Unless you plan to use the place to launder money, you have some material issues to deal with; one of which is that I will take you to small claims court if my finger gets infected and I need to see a doctor. The dip nail color options was apparently limited to only a very small number of different rings, of which there were hardly any neutrals. At one point, I asked to see a book that was up at the front for more color options and was told no, because it was the same colors as what I had already. So they had THREE different display sets of the SAME colors.... When it came time, they didn't even have the color I wanted in stock! The worst and why I am absolutely most disappointed (and no, it's not that my manicure is already chipped to heck) - I asked MULTIPLE times to not set my dip manicure with UV Gel. Multiple!!! Then, as the manicurist is pulling out her little UV bases, I asked again - "please can you set the dip without the UV?" And she said yes, then got up to grab something, comes back, puts on the first coat and goes "OK, put in the light". WTF. I asked at least 5 times to NOT have UV and even asked for clarification BEFORE the manicure started if they could set it without UV and was told yes. Lastly, it was beyond tactless to have the manicurist hover over me as I paid when the tip screen came on. Would not recommend this salon for a dip manicure if my life depended on it.

Without telling her too much, she found my trouble spots immediately, which she worked pretty hard on. It was a great mix of some uncomfortable, but MUCH needed deep tissue work, and a super relaxing massage. For me, I need both to help heal injuries but also be deeply relaxed. She CLEARLY has a lot of experience and knows what she is doing! The location is really nice, with a hair salon downstairs, and a relaxation room and massage rooms upstairs. Almetris was very welcoming and, later I found out, also a very talented masseuse. I had a detox massage, which was new for me. It focuses on the lymphatic system, where she performed rythmic movements to stimulate lymph flow at the various areas throughout the body to flush toxins. At first I didn't think it was going to be very relaxing, but she said it would be and she was right... very very right. Relaxing and detoxifying? Awesome.
