Hoboken has many restaurants to walk to or order delivery from. For this reason, I was skeptical that there was a need for 'Wonder." Regardless, I gave it a try for delivery a few times, and it's actually exceeded my expectations. The main attraction to Wonder is the ability to have varied cuisine on a single night. They have a large number of exclusive (Signature) restaurants to order from. The range is vast, think anything from a veggie bowl to a NY strip steak. I've tried Thai and Mediterrean entrees, BBQ brisket, and even a side of truffle mashed potatoes. Everything has been good quality and fresh tasting. The only miss was sometimes the hot foods were room temperature by the time they were delivered. The cost is comparable to your average Uber Eats delivery, and delivery is prompt and accurately predicted. You can also pick up on Hudson Street, but there's no dining room. I'd suggest ordering from their "Signature" restaurants as they now have choices from local partner restaurants (nothing wrong with that, but I can support local businesses by visiting them). This cheesesteak was so good. We ordered from Fred's meat&bread and got a collect cheesesteaks. The Korean cheesesteak was just spicy enough but not too spicy. You can tell they mixed everything together so you got all the flavors in every bite. I suggest not getting the garlic fries if you have a date later in the day. It is super garlicky but delicious. After seeing only bad reviews, I was surprised to have a great experience and tasty food. I got Dana's Rice Krispie bar and omg I could eat one of these with every meal it was so sweet and amazing. Wonder is really such a cool concept for so many reasons. First, it is essentially a food court, but it has only one central counter for order and payment processing. This means that families and groups of diners can order from multiple restaurants, based on what each individual is in the mood for; there will be no more fighting over what type of cuisine to select. Secondly, half of the restaurant menus are designed by renowned chefs. Thirdly, you can order items across multiple restaurants - want French fries with your poke bowl - no problem! I walked through the space the other day, which only offered a handful of tables, while the bulk of the room was used for adornments, the counter, and the kitchen. On that visit, I was merely checking out the facility, but I did order delivery from them on a separate occasion. Ordering from the website (they also have an app) was easy to do. Navigating the menus and customizing your selections was very straightforward. Plus, the food arrived in the exact timeframe they promised! I opted to build my own bowl from Yasas by Michael Symon. I went through the Mediterranean ingredient categories and selected a spring mixed lettuce base, topped with chicken soulvaki, spiced cauliflower, eggplant spread, tomato and cucumber salad, kalamata olives, chickpeas, shredded romaine, and harissa dressing. However, the plate that actually arrived included a base of lentils and bulgur wheat that was covered with falafel, eggplant and spicy pepper + feta spreads, tomato and cucumber salad, pickled jalapenos and onions, chickpeas, romaine, and harissa dressing...So, this portion of my order was largely incorrect. I called Wonder's customer service line, and the representative could not have been nicer. He gave me the option to either get a correct bowl delivered, which he said would take about 20 minutes, or to keep the bowl and receive a refund. I just decided to keep the bowl and get the money back. While it was not exactly what I would have wanted, I thought that mostly everything in dish was fresh and flavorful. The falafel were particularly great, but I found the spicy pepper and feta spread a bit too cheesy. My boyfriend had similarly ordered a bowl, but his was from the Mexican restaurant, Limesalt. He thought it was tasty, though I would say that mine looked more appealing. I did try some of his tortilla chips and green chili salsa, though. The chips were excellent; they were crispy and just salty enough. The salsa was spicy, but flavorful. Lastly, we also shared an order of regular French fries from Fred's Meat & Bread, because why not take advantage of the option to order across restaurants! The fries were thin, crispy, and golden; they were not heavily fried and were well-seasoned. I love the business plan of Wonder and am eager to see if and/or when they add new restaurants to their network. Ordered Di Fara Sicilian square vodka pizza and Yasas pita and tzatziki to hit the $30 min spend to get the $10 new customer promo. The Di Fara pizza was not as good as folks say the original location is, but it was still good overall. The portion size, temperature, and taste were great. The vodka sauce tasted good, and 3 of the 8 total slices was a very filling meal. The main complaint was that the cheese would slide off altogether sometimes. Napoli's vodka pizza is worlds better, but this is good too. 8/10 pizza. The pita ($0.95) and tzatziki ($3) were bad value because the pita was one round piece about 4 inches in diameter and the tzatziki was in a little container about double the size of a dipping sauce cup. Got a Chipotle-style burrito bowl ($10.45) from Limesalt and carrot soufflé ($6) from Fred's Meat & Bread. The bowl was decent quality and filling, although the portion was smaller than classic Chipotle. However, it was cost effective. The soufflé had the taste and texture of custard, so I loved it. Recently I got a Build your Own Salad Bowl from the Yasas restaurant. I wouldn't get this again. There was barely any salad in it, and the tomatoes/cucumbers were really soggy. The tzatziki was really good,but the hummus was bitter. I also got feta and the avocado add on. The chicken seemed microwaved because it was cold when I picked it up, but the taste wasn't bad. The service was great - they text you when the food is ready for pick up so you dont have to wait. TLDR: Basically just upscale TV dinner deliveries designed by top chefs. Yet not bad. Not bad at all. But just okay, and 100% overpriced! This food is basically Blue Apron or Hello Fresh but as a restaurant. In fact they actually sell Blue Apron there and it's one of the "restaurants" lol. The food is partially prepared off site at a central kitchen, delivered to this location and they basically heat it up , finish preparing the meal kit, and serve it in to go containers. The difference between this and Hello Fresh The Restaurant or a dorm cafeteria is that the food/recipes is supposedly elevated and designed by fancy famous chefs like Michael Symon and Jose Andres. Between the two times I ate there I had six items from 3 or 4 different restaurants. They were just okay, like something you'd get from a buffet or dorm cafeteria. The fried chicken from Mr. D's was a bit dry, but overall not bad. The collard greens were dry and had old bay in them which was a choice. The brisket from Tejas was okay and tasted like something you'd get from Trader Joes or a gourmet grocery store. There were some hits. The best things I had were the mac and cheese, the sweet potatoes from Mr. D's and the Pan con Tomates from Jose Andres's Jota, even though there was NOT enough tomate for the pan (one tiny sauce cup for 4 or 5 pieces of bread. The problem with the food is that it all tasted very uniform and standard. Real restuarants that make the food from scratch, you're going to taste the sublties and imperfections. You're going to taste if the chef added a bit too much salt or added extra lettuce. Here it's just all the same. Well season but no umph or uniqueness because it's likely prepared in batches in a central kitchen from a specific formula and not by a chef, and you can taste that. Inside looks nice, but there is only enough room for 3 small groups to sit and eat. This is because the kitchen is supposedly so large and takes up most of the space and the restaurant is really supposed to be a delivery restaurant. From that standpoint it's decent because it's basically delivery for upscale TV dinners designed by top chefs. Ordering online for pickup was fast, maybe too fast. BBQ meal was ready in 10 minutes. Fried chicken dinner was made in under 15 minutes, so again not made from scratch on site. I would go back if I really had a taste for one of the cuisines served and didn't have another option, or if with a group of people who wanted different things.
