I hadn't even thought about custom wheels until i came across some discussion on a road bike forum. Initially, I was going to buy all the wheel parts myself and then have a shop build it up locally. But after speaking to Pete (whom I came across on said bike forum), having him provide all the parts and build up the wheels came in even a tad cheaper!! It was a no brainer to go with Pete. Of course price is not the determining factor of whether you should deal with Pete or not. Pete not only has some excellent pricing for his work, but his customer service levels are next to none. We probably have an email thread going back and forth between us 15-20 times over the course of three weeks. I was initially a little hesitant about custom wheels when we first started talking. This was because I was brand new to the custom wheel world and knew next to nothing about custom wheels. But by the time i put my order in, i was 100% confident I was going to be getting exactly what I was hoping for and needing. Pete spent a lot of time answering all my questions in great detail and i couldn't have asked for anything more. When the wheels arrived, they were packed EXTREMELY well. Seeing the attention to care that went into the packaging of the wheels was quite surprising. Maybe it's because i've never had wheels shipped to me, but regardless, my wheels came out of the box in perfect condition. Flawless. As for the wheels, well, i could not be any happier with them. They came out of the box true and round as can be, and after about 500km so far (i know, not a ton of riding), they are still perfectly round and true. I will definitely be looking to work with Pete again when I look to upgrade to some higher end wheels.

At first I felt a weird spirit here…read more.. Rochester pedal tours are a fun time! Woooo!! Thats what you say when your on the pedal tour. There is no age limit to the fun (there is a minmum age though because the owners do adhere to the 21 age limit for alcohol) but you know what i mean!! The weight limit is very disheartening to the garls but we were within the limit and had a fun night. Matt was our driver and he was courteous and plompt.

It was a combination kayak and bicycle excursion along the scenic Erie Canal between Brockport and Holley, New York. The guided excursion we traveled 2 miles by kayak and 10 miles by bicycle. All the equipment was provided and it was all brand new, state of the art. Our kayaking started at the Welcome Center in Brockport where they installed the new adaptive launch pad. We had a tour guide travel along with us in his own kayak to show how to navigate the kayak. After that we hopped on a bike traveling to Sans Souci Park and the Holley Canal Park spillway and back to the Welcome Center. At the end of our ride we were given a $10 food voucher to 3 local restaurants. It was a beautiful experience and it was all free of charge thanks to our governor and the New York State's Reimagine the Canals initiative, the New York Power Authority and the New York State Canal Corporation. They are offering free excursions at canalside hubs to promote recreation, local business, and new camping destinations. Called today to see if we could do it again this year and the guy said they were closed for the season. I said "oh but I thought you were open this time last year?" And this guy said "I said THIS season, not LAST season" in the snottiest tone of voice. Incredibly rude and unprofessional. We'll spend our money elsewhere from now on (:

This was because the owner " had plans " and " didn't feel like it". He refused us service and was very rude in the process. Proceeded to tell us that we were dumb for wanting to take the kayaks fishing because there was a 30% chance of rain. I asked Ron about his store hours because he was supposed to be open from 8am-6pm. He then said that he doesn't care what his hours are. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL! As an avid kayaker I would never try and use this service again.

Our Daughter who is 16, was traveling alone to Chicago. We were really nervous about her taking the…read moretrain, in this current political climate. Especially, to Union Station in Chicago. She is a US citizen, but we still were unsure of what she would be walking into. Her train left at 11pm, and was due to arrive at 11am the next day. We arrived an hour early, per the instructions. The train station in Rochester is very small, and since we had our tickets. We discovered it really wasn't necessary to show up that early, at this time. We spoke to the conductor about our nerves. really nice, and put us at ease. Also, looking around we saw a lot of young people, traveling. Mostly college age. Usually train stations are sketchy looking places, but this is well lit. The staff is friendly, and seems trained really well. The only sketch thing that happened is a woman came in who appeared to be on drugs. She went to their window. She was not traveling with them. But they did a great job of quietly speaking to her with respect, giving her enough assistance to get her to leave. She was stumbling a bit and nodding out at times. They gave her directions, and told her to be safe. I could tell that they were not annoyed by her, but rather worried instead. She was an older woman. It put me at ease, they handled it quickly, and with respect to all people. The woman left, she was nice, and seemed appreciative of the advice they gave her. I didn't hear the conversation. But could tell some from body language. Our daughter left without incident. We had her on location, so we knew where she was at all times. She was met on the other side without incident. She did say the Chicago Union Station was huge, and when she first departed the train was a bit nervous, but saw her friend's parents very quickly. She said the ride was without incident and went well. I think she will be using the train more often, as she ages.

Because I bought my ticket with the nys wine card it was a VIP ticket so we boarded before general admission. We did some tasting prior to sailing off so we could enjoy the music and view while out on Lake Ontario. They also served light snacks which was a great idea! I think we will have to do it again next year. There was 3 cruises to choose from and if you are reading this they still have one more cruise in October for this year. Great time and wonderful fun people.

Customer focused: Joe and Dianne were very accommodating to work around all of our schedules for our particular needs. They invested a lot of time with the kids, were patient, gave them great learning tasks and were very positive. Both kids loved them. Joe is an excellent instructor. Flexible: When I found out that I didn't have quite the same certification as I thought, they accommodated us with a very tight schedule graciously so I could get everything in and dive with the rest of the family on the trip. Expertise: As others have reviewed, the merchandise may be more expensive than online, but if you spend an hour with someone knowledgeable getting the right gear, should that expertise be free and the items sold at cost? If you want cheap and to figure it out yourself, go to Amazon. If you want someone who is knowledgeable and will help you find just the right thing and make sure you are prepared, support this local business. I wish I had known about it sooner!
