Then another person called back asking why I called and I told them again. So I guess communication is an issue all around. There were no "pointing toward other resources", which we didn't need anyway, just being written off until I had to insist, somewhat astoundingly, that I expected to pay. Then I gave you a quote I had already gotten from another lawyer. Then a price was finally put forth. It has been mentioned in other yelp reviews that you push ppl to write good reviews and I should have been more wary of that possibility. I'm not sure your reviews reflect anything other than a business strategy.

I repeatedly asked whether my case was strong enough to pursue, and I was consistently reassured that it was. Based on that reassurance, I agreed to move forward. However, the outcome did not reflect the confidence that was initially communicated, and I was ultimately left in a difficult financial position. One of my biggest concerns was the lack of direct communication. Despite requesting to speak with the attorney handling my case, I never had the opportunity to do so. Instead, I was assigned a case manager who, in my experience, did not seem fully informed about the details or progress of my case. Overall, I feel that my expectations were not properly managed, and I wish there had been more transparency about the risks involved. I would encourage others to make sure they have direct access to their attorney and a clear understanding of potential outcomes before proceeding. I need to correct several points in your response because that was not my experience. At no point did I have a direct conversation with you where any of this was clearly explained. In fact, despite multiple requests to speak with the attorney handling my case, I was never given that opportunity. All communication was handled through a case manager, who, from my understanding, had very limited experience at the time and was not able to adequately answer my questions or explain the situation in detail. Before moving forward, I repeatedly asked whether this was a case worth pursuing, specifically because I could not afford to take on medical expenses without a reasonable expectation of recovery. I relied on the reassurance provided by your office. If this case was truly as limited as you are now stating, that should have been clearly and directly communicated to me by the attorney not relayed indirectly or left unclear. Instead, my case was taken on, I proceeded with treatment, and then the case was dropped shortly after, leaving me in a difficult financial position. To make matters worse, I was not even properly notified that my case had been dropped. For something this serious, that level of communication is unacceptable. That financial impact may not seem significant from your perspective, but for an everyday person, it absolutely is. This is exactly why I asked those questions upfront. This experience reflects a lack of direct communication and transparency, which is the main issue I raised in my original review.

After sharing my concerns, Mr. Kakoian contacted me directly via email and threatened to sue me if I did not remove this review. That threat only reinforced my concerns and made me question the overwhelmingly positive reviews on his profile. It made me wonder whether other clients felt pressured to stay silent or remove negative feedback. When I first hired Mr. Kakoian, he appeared attentive and professional--quick to respond, eager to get started, and prompt in collecting his retainer. Unfortunately, that level of responsiveness changed shortly after signing the agreement. Over time, I felt that meaningful progress on my case stalled while billing continued. Communication dropped off significantly, and I had to follow up repeatedly just to receive basic updates. At times, I genuinely questioned whether any substantive work was being done on my file. Frustrated by the lack of progress and his practice, I filed a complaint with the California State Bar and submitted documentation outlining what I believed was serious mismanagement. If you're working with Mr. Kakoian and feel something isn't right, I strongly encourage you to advocate for yourself. The State Bar exists to protect clients and hold attorneys accountable.
