This is what I got: Pumpkin tart: Good Apple Slice: Good Powdered Doughnut : Okay Cupcakes of Lemon Fluff, Red Velvet, Carrot Cake, and Chocolate were Disappointing. Cheescake cup was good. Nothing was dry or gross (doughnut was a bit dry). The cupcakes had a good soft texture, but all of them were flavorless! The Carrot cake cupcake did not taste like carrot cake, the chocolate was not flavorful. The red velvet was average. The lemon fluff was just too light on the lemon flavor for me. Sorry, maybe some things are good and others are okay. But I can make better or the same at home. read more

I ordered a cake for my daughter's graduation. Whipped cream with yellow dough and fudge filling. Instead I received a lemon cake with lemon filling. Ugh! I do like Wolff's Lemon fluff it's great but when you order a full sheet of cake for a party very few people eat lemon fluff. I took the slice to prove it was not the cake ordered. They did refund my money and told my daughter she could pick out the cake she wanted in the case. They even gave her the wrong cake. I still go to Wolff's for their cookies, cupcakes and lemon fluff but refuse to order anymore cakes. read more

Their Irish Soda Bread is unparalleled to any other kind out there. I get it as often as I can. It's absolutely excellent, light, moist, perfect flavor. But I've learned that's where the Wolf's menu ends... My last trip in I thought it would be neat to try some pastries as I had company coming over. Prices were great. My entire order came to 22.00 (and that included my loaf of soda bread). I got an assortment of about 8 different pastries: lemon fluff cupcakes, cream horn, eclair, mini cheesecake, cream puff, cannoli, and a red velvet cupcake. All of the pastries were so bland. The lemon fluff was okay, nothing out of the ordinary or special. The dough for the cream horn was stale and flavorless with a marshmallow fluff center that was sparse and overly sweet. The eclair didn't have a custard filling but some sort of strange flavorless fluff instead (same with the cream puff) and the mini cheesecakes were that of frozen quality. The cannolis lacked any sort of flavor and were under-filled. I almost purchased a full atomic cake but I'm glad I didn't. It would have probably been a $35.00 let down. I can't say I would purchase baked goods/pastries here again. I'll stick with the soda bread and do my other bakery errands elsewhere. read more

I was itching for a cupcake this morning so I decided to take a quick trip to Wolf's. The bakery was stocked with donuts, a variety of coffee cakes, mini cheese cups & eclairs, tarts, Irish soda bread, cupcakes, muffins, kolackys the size of my palm, apple slices, cookies, etc. They have something for every sugar nerd like me. I decided to go with a red velvet cupcake, a mini carrot cake cupcake and an apple slice. Now I'm saving the apple slice for later, but the two cupcakes were very yummy and fresh. For a neighborhood bakery, I was satisfied. And did I mention it smelled divine in there! My treats were neatly wrapped in a box and then tied up with bakers string which was hanging from the ceiling. That was pretty cool to me. I even have a lovely, neon orange sticker on my treat box that reminds me to keep my goodies refrigerated. The bakery was clean and the woman at the counter who helped me was very friendly. As for parking, they have about 10 spots on side of the building. Even though my quick trip was a 5 star experience, I'll have to wait and see how they do with a bigger order if I ever get the chance to place one with Wolf's (such as a birthday cake). And by the way, my order was all under $4! read more

Five stars. We get every birthday cake, communion cake, wedding cake (well, we got one wedding cake) and holiday cake from Wolf's. The cakes look wonderful (it matters to some people) and taste better. The cookies are delicious as well. They are famous for their lemon fluff cakes, and those are outstanding, but I'm all about chocolate cake, and I happen to think that the chocolate cakes are Wolf's best item. I honestly try not to go into the place, because every time I do, I buy some doughnuts or danishes or coffee cake or muffins or cookies. The only deserts I have had that are tastier than Wolf's are those made by my mother (which doesn't really count, since everyone is partial to their Mom's cooking). I wish I had some of my wedding cake left! Wolf's also has really good bread--soda bread, raisin bread, rye bread, regular white bread, and my son's favorite, cinnamon bread. I have also heard good things about their lemon meringue pie. Just be careful--once in a while, the owners go on vacation, so make sure to call a few weeks ahead of when you will be placing your order, just to make sure. * Please note that I am aware that I am using the pronoun "their" in the singular. I can remember my father bringing home chocolate-frosted cake donuts on Saturday mornings in the 1980's and distinctly noticing a difference (at 5 yrs old) between these and Dunklin Donuts Wolfs has recently introduced coffee and it appears a half-hearted attempt to please sleepy-eyed customers. This could have been huge. H U G E. But they are brewing flavorless, weak, watery coffee with a minimalistic selection of additions ( no fresh cream, serve yourself, etc). read more

I came in last weekend regarding a special cake that i needed to order for my son's baptism. They took my name down and I called them a couple days after since they never called me back and they quoted me a price for the cake I had wanted and informed me to order by Friday with a deposit. I came in to their store early Friday morning and the lady proceeded to take my order and even told me today would be the last day I can place an order for weekend cakes. She spoke to the baker and came back to tell me that they changed the policy and cut off time to order is Thursday now and not Friday. I had three separate occasions with the employees telling me to place the order in on Friday. It's unfortunate an institution as old as this place in the neighborhood, not one single employee knew the correct information but the baker himself. The employees made the mistake and the customer as to pay for the mistake. I came in to discuss my order ample amount of time and spoke to someone and then for them to just tell me, Sorry, we can't help you and looks at the other employee did you know the cut off changed? Now, I am left calling other bakeries to have a cake ready for Sunday for my son's baptism. I came in from a friend's recommendation but what poor customer service. Completely disappointed. Everyone is always talking about how good this place is so I decided to try it. These cakes are very average. They were very plain nothing very special about them. The one thing that I did enjoy was the lemon fluff. This cake is anything but average. I'm not big on lemon but I tried it and it was very good. When I went there in early afternoon, there were still many confections and cookies all stocked up, looking pretty in the cases and looking fresh and delicious. Still some coffee cakes and other cakes on display, and full size and mini cannoli too. Many bakeries around me are geared for morning donuts and such and there's little left in the place after morning. Wolf's appears to keep their shelves replenished with fresh goods as the day goes along. Very nicely done, clean and welcoming, with friendly service. Three employee's were there to take and box customer's orders. Creme puffs, mini cupcakes, brownies, and some I don't know what they were but looked really good. My orders were put in separate boxes, tied in strings, with a shiny labels put on the box, perfect presentation for bringing to your elderly aunt for desert after lunch (which is exactly what I did). Everything was very tasty. I really like Wolf's too bad I don't live closer. read more

I frequent Wolf's for birthday cakes and, sometimes, for pastries and cookies. Everything is absolutely delicious and people always rave about the cake and ask where I bought it from. However, I write today to acknowledge their customer service. Every time I go to Wolf's I feel like I am transported back in time to a day where people were super friendly and customer service was king. This past weekend I forgot to pick up my cake, then missed their call to me to alert me. One I realized it, I called frantically and went there and knocked. After I left, the manager called and said if I could get there quickly, she'd wait for me. This kind of stuff just doesn't happen anymore. Most people don't care enough to be so kind as to think about the impact that this small gesture will make on someone's day and special event. My wedding cake was absolutely delicious. It was a two-tiered heart-shaped lemon fluff cake. The guests at the wedding loved the cake and asked for seconds! The young lady, Amy, who wrote up my cake order was very patient and understanding when I wanted to change the design. Got cookies and Irish soda bread, but everything looks delicious. Went in at about 5:30pm, and they close at 6pm, but it was still crowded. We were tended to immediately even though there were other people there. Both the cookies and soda bread are very good. Next time I'll get cupcakes, they have a large variety of full size and mini cupcakes. read more

I was looking for a lemon cake for a coworker. I searched Yelp and saw this bakery which is conveniently located in my neighborhood. I told the young lady that it was my first time visiting the bakery and that I heard I should get the lemon fluff. She gave me a free mini lemon cupcake which was so light, fluffy and the lemon was not overbearing. I hope my coworker likes it and I'm sure I'll be back for more delicious delectables! read more

Let me start by saying, I avoid all things lemon. I had the opportunity to try it out (unknowing that it was lemon cake) at a work party, and holy cow....IT IS DELICIOUS! I have sampled a few of their cupcakes and they are all soft, moist, and yummy! I was excited to try this bakery being we live a few blocks away, but agree with other customers the pastries are pretty bland, nothing spectacular. I am a fan of the lemon fluff cake (not the cupcakes) but haven't found the variety of items (cannoli, cupcakes, doughnuts, hot crosses, Italian cookies...) we have tried over various weekends... we gave them a second and third chance and sadly not very pleasing. Service can be 50/50 sometimes the girls are too busy talking amounts themselves to check if other numbers are up and other times the service is excellent. read more

Every year for St. Patty's Day, my South Side Irish family goes to this bakery to buy more soda bread than anyone should healthily consume. This is right before they stop by the Jewels for pounds of butter to go with it (Pluralized supermarket to keep in line with the south side colloquialism of making everything plural). It's my favorite soda bread, because it is not completely ridden with raisins and it's soft and crumbly - not dry at all. This was my first time purchasing a cake from this bakery and it will be the last. I ordered the cake and I explained to the young lady that I only wanted red, black and white on the cake. I also told her this was a cake for a man 50th Birthday. I go to pickup my cake and here they have very little red and black on the cake but had roses (that I did not order) with a green stem. I spoke to the manager name Linda and explained to her this is not what I ordered and I have a color scheme that does not include green. She told me that when I ordered my cake I should have told them not to put certain things on my cake. Since when do you go order a custom cake and tell them its for a man and to only put certain colors on the cake is not enough. She told me o well they have no one here that could fix the cake and that I was not obligated to take the cake. I have an event today and do not have time to order a cake from somewhere else. She was not helpful at all especially seeing that they messed my cake up for someone's 50th Birthday. I still purchased the cake but I will never come here again. I ordered one of their famous lemon fluff cakes for my husband's birthday party. I was a little disappointed. The cake was moist and had a nice lemon flavor, but it was nothing spectacular. I kept thinking it needed more oomph! This would be appropriate at a bridal or baby shower in the spring or summer as it's very light and delicate. All in all, a good cake, just don't expect something out of this world...as its reputation would have it. read more

It was ok. Walked in and the lady was at first ignorant. It smelled like bleach. The donut has no taste. The cookies left an aftertaste. Though service by the end was better then when we walked in, it wouldn't be our first choice of bakery considering how many there are on 95th street. read more
