We originally had Diego and his crew out to grind a tree stump for us. The price was so reasonable…read moreand we were anxious to get it done so we forged ahead. We were impressed with the time and effort they were putting into getting the stump nice and flat for us. So we started looking around and asking about the other services he performs. So since he was already there, we asked for some estimates on thinning out a few very large trees for us and trimming back a long row of leyland cypress trees that grow over our fence line. We had been wanting to get these things done, but the quotes we got seemed very high. Well, we learned a lot since then! First of all, it wasn't a fluke- D & M's prices are very reasonable across all of their services and their crew members are hard working and knowledgeable in all of their tasks. The second thing we learned was what it actually entails to properly trim these huge trees! The amount of time and effort it took to scale these trees, trim back all the little inconsequential branches and then dispose of the branches and clean up all the debris in the yard was incredible. We now understand why the quotes we had gotten in the past seemed so high- we just didn't understand the scope of the project. And then these guys beat any estimate we've ever gotten! We will definitely call Diego and his crew for any other yard projects we have!

The final invoice was significantly higher than other vendors and learned that Jason charged $80 an hour for unskilled labor which is greater than my auto mechanic, carpenter, etc. My mistake in not getting a quote before the work was the culprit. As a great lover of trees, I felt such anxiety about our project, but when Alex came to do our estimate he listened and settled my concerns. His knowledge and his obvious love for what he does came through from the beginning of the project to the end. His pricing was fair and transparent, and his communication and response times were excellent. As he walked the grounds with us, Alex explained our options and price ranges honestly and openly, never trying to "up sell" or pressure us and taking the time to make certain we were well-informed. Our experience with two other companies was not so pleasant, with one of them quoting us almost 3x what we paid Alex (and they would not grind stumps). On the day of the project his crew showed up on time, and when we asked about an additional tree that concerned us, Alex evaluated it on the spot and gave us a fair price for adding it to our existing plan. In all, Dogwood removed three trees (2 of them huge and towering over our house), trimmed the 80-year-old magnolia, and ground all the stumps and surface roots. One of the crew members even noticed a limb from a healthy tree that was close to our driveway and trimmed it as a courtesy. They cleaned everything up with blowers before packing up, and every crew member showed impressive professionalism and efficiency.
