Owner Hi Brian, I think you will need to consult a NH attorney for this. Mike I am in NH. The property in question is in CA. The whole point of why I was seeking a CA attorney was that I needed someone well versed in CA real estate law, especially Prop 13 law. So for him to say I needed a NH attorney (who would know nothing about CA RE law and Prop 13 law) was exactly the opposite of what I needed, and showed he was not exactly on top of things, either then or later in his response to the review. As for "I do not handle that type of law" in the review response, their web site lists "REAL ESTATE" as one of the areas of expertise for Attorney Michael K. Wolder. So I think there's more "confusion" here, too, either in the initial query response or the review response. read more

Last year, in late June early July, I experienced a very traumatic episode. I left my apartment for a night to go camping with my family. I came home to my apartment being completely flooded. It was literally "raining" inside my apartment. The tenant that lived above us had just moved out and did some modifications to his plumbing and cause a huge leak. Everything in my apartment was floating, damaged, and completely soaked. Thankfully, the only rooms that were not destroyed was my boys' room and the living room. As you can imagine, we were very worried and feeling vulnerable. Our home was destroyed! We advised to pick up what we could (clothes, etc.) and stay at a hotel until the repairs could be made and our apartment was once again, livable. Insurance was involved pretty much immediately. Our apartment complex does not require us to carry "renters insurance". We were dealing with a 3rd party insurance claim. They were making me feel as though the flood was my fault and because I did not have renters insurance, most of my damaged property would not be covered. Mind you, my mattress, my work clothes, shoes, towels, linen- everything was molded and soaked within a day. Maintenance from our complex had just thrown all of our property into a pile, in a bathtub, and it sat there for days, turning into a moldy science project. I needed to be sure my belongings would be replaced and that I would be compensated for my food/hotel stay. I immediately started searching for a lawyer. I needed some general questions answered and I needed to know what my rights were, as a tenant. It's easy to feel intimidated by insurance agents, who deal with these sort of claims all the time. Doing a Google search for a lawyer, in my local area, I found Wolder and Associates. A gentleman answered the phone and his name was Mike. I began to explain my situation to him and this is what he said, "Well, that doesn't seem right. Send me the information you have, let me look it over and I'll get back to you tomorrow." To be honest, I didn't think he was going to call me back or get involved. I was just some girl with a problem and he was an established lawyer with a huge calendar of big time cases. He has no time for me... but to my surprise, he had emailed me, first thing, that next morning. In 2015, my wife and I embarked on a major home remodel. Unfortunately, we made a really bad choice in the General Contractor that we hired. Our agreement had fixed prices for each component. This incentivized the contractor to go as cheap as possible in the build to maximize his profit. The project was estimated at one year for completion. After one month, our contractor hired an inexperience demo guy to cut footer and plumbing trenches in our post tension slab. They cut long intersecting trenches without leaving support over the cables. The slab imploded on itself. Contrary to what all the post tension slab experts stated, the contractor insisted that it could be repaired. He denied any responsibility and insisted that we were locked into contract despite open ended change orders that would be necessary for moving forward. After getting nowhere on our own, we knew we would need to hire an Attorney. This time we were not going to make the same mistake. We spoke to many attorneys. We contacted referrals from friends and family and attorneys we found online. We told our story many times and heard many ideas and approaches. Both my wife and I spoke to Mike Wolder at separate times. We knew he was the correct choice. This time we were right. He never cut corners and always had a solid and honest response to the opposing council's dialog. He helped keep us grounded as this situation grew frustrating. He was always fair with us. Everything was always upfront and honest and we never felt like he was leading us on. He gave us a legal leg to stand on and allowed us to make the choices on how we wanted to pursue the matter.
