Sesame chicken is my Chinese food "go to," and as far as they go, this one was pretty average with not a ton of flavor. The plate, however, was a great value with the rice and the egg roll, though that was a bit underwhelming as well. My friend's General Tso's, however, was better than my Sesame, with more flavor but not spicy like so many others when it comes to this dish. China East is a place that you could go to snag something quick and affordable, but is pretty average in terms of taste. Staff was friendly enough but doesn't allow much by way of customization; you can't get General Tso's with lo mein instead of rice, for example.

The restaurant is in a tucked away strip mall and is modest in size and decor. The strip mall also contains hidden treasures like a Chinese bakery/BBQ and an Asian store. We went early on a Saturday evening with friends. The service was excellent, although with some staff there were language hurdles. No matter - everyone made it work and we were left with an abundance of amazing food at a reasonable price. Wine and beers are served, as well as smoothies and other non-alcoholic drinks. BF ordered crab rangoon as a starter, which was good. He liked it more than I did, but it was nice and crispy. I just didn't think it compared to other dishes. My vegetable egg roll was very good as well, but nothing terribly unique. He went bold on the entree and ordered the pork intestine and blood cake dish. He really enjoyed it and said it was quite spicy. The portions are generous and he did bring a lot home. I ordered the homestyle tofu, which normally has pork. I got it without to make it vegetarian friendly. The textures were very good and the sauce was intensely flavorful, but mild. I also ordered a supplementary dish of braised mushrooms and Shanghai greens. Everyone at the table enjoyed this dish, particularly the greens, which are a variety of bok choy, called pac choy. The mushrooms were wonderful, with the texture of wood ears. I also had plenty of leftovers to eat the next day. Our friends ordered the Szechuan spicy pork dumplings and they got rave reviews. My cousin did say they were not overly spicy. She went on to order the sizzling black pepper beef, which she said was good, but not nearly as unique or deeply flavored as the other dishes. Her husband ordered the pork intestine with clear noodles, which he enjoyed but said was extremely spicy. He did leave a lot of sauce behind since it was so hot. He also had the ox tendon and maw in spicy sauce, which came with chopped peanuts on top. He seemed really pleased with that dish. We agreed that we would happily go back to explore the menu more. Everything was excellent and I thought the prices were generally quite reasonable, especially for the quantity of food. I do wish the menu had more descriptive text, so I could familiarize myself with the dishes. The choices are many and overwhelming and the menu is huge. I'd also love to see a symbol for vegetarian options since it's very hard to know otherwise and many of the vegetable dishes included pork or other meat. As we left the restaurant was getting increasingly busy with people waiting by the door for seats. This is a popular place for good reason.

The Spicy Pork Dumplings have become my go-to appetizer, and the fried spring rolls are also very good. On a most recent visit, we ordered hot pot. Our server brought us the sheet to make our selections. You can choose from mild broth, spicy broth, or half tray of each. The spicy is pretty hot with lots of red chili peppers soaking in it, so I scooped out the chili peppers to keep rhe flavor but lessen the impact on my palate. For 2 guests, I recommend choosing 3 items from the list, maybe 2 protein and one veggie or 2 veggie and one protein to start. You can order more if you finish and need more. This is in addition to the two appetizers you will choose, which is included with rhe hot pot dinner. It's a great value! Sze Chuan remains on my short list of go-to's for Chinese dining, and I look forward to my next visit, whenever that may be.

They offer a decent "lunch" special that also runs on weekends and until 3pm or so. I cannot say no to that Mongolian beef... which might have been even better than I remember. The chicken pad thai was a HUGE portion and looked/smelled incredible. I definitely want to try this in the future. The waiter was nice and attentive without being annoying. For a chain, I think the food is pretty dang amazing and the menu is quite extensive. I would recommend PF Chang's over the foot court any day!

After we ordered, I looked down and noticed there was rice in between the table placemat under both mats and also on the other side was dried sauce and chunks of food stuck onto the table. Simple mistake and but we switched tables. Right when we sat down, I took the wine glasses and slid them to the end of the table as we ordered water, and I figured they would take them. As I was moving them, I noticed that there was lipstick marks on one of them. As for the service, it started out well, but then he basically never came back to the table and other servers were helping us. The food was hot and good but the overall experience wasn't good and now being 2 back to back times and for the price, we will not be back, sadly. And with the 1st order they totally forgot my almond cookies. On the order the next day, they did send the cookies, but went and billed me an extra $4.47 because I requested sweet & sour sauce to go along with the 2 orders of Chinese fried chicken sticks that I had paid for. I was thinking I'd be receiving a container of their homemade sweet & sour sauce (they advertise this on the menu for $4), that's why I didnt make a biggie about it. But then I get the bag and inside there's like 10 of those generic packs of sweet sour sauce. Like WTH! These should have automatically came with chicken sticks. Shouldn't have to pay almost $5 extra dollars for those. And both of their soups, the chicken noodle & wonton was near the spoiling stage & not very good at all. And $9 for a quart of soup when it was mostly noodles. Oh c'mon on. The Almond cookies where they used to give 5, for like $1.25, now you only get 2 of them for a whopping $2.50. What is going on? And they were soft and wet, with a strange texture. They used to be flavorful and crispy. Just ashame that a once great Chinese take-out has succumbed to this low level. One redeeming quality that they do possess, is whoever answers their phones (I've spoken with a man and a lady) are really patient, polite and nice. And that does go a long way when running a restaurant. I'll give them an extra star for that. However, I just can't get past my last experience & won't be ordering again.
