After a 9 hour drive to LOTO, we thought we would pick up Thai food on the way to the house. Love the name 'Wok N Roll,' so we placed an order and picked up as we went through town. After unloading the car, we sat down to our $80 togo meal for three people. Never have we had such tasteless food. The next day, my husband was looking at the menu that came with the food. We realized that the reason it was so tasteless is because you have to give a heat preference. That was not asked when we placed the order over the phone, not did we see it on their online menu. When ordering Thai in our hometown, we are always asked our spice preference. I honestly didn't even think about it when placing the order. The egg roll was good, but the crab Rangoon was mainly cream cheese. We might try again on a future trip. Expensive lesson learned. read more

I got the pancit with veggies and my mom got the nam sod, both were super fresh and flavorful. Good portions too! The service was good, our server was friendly and accommodating, and we got our food out super fast! We also all got Thai teas that were in HUGE pint mugs and it was really tasty. The best part tho was the sauces - they have 3 different homemade sauces, but my favorite one was the ginger/soy sauce! It was super rich and flavorful without being overpowering. I was really hoping to like this place and even though I looked at the menu online and noticed the prices where higher than most Thai restaurants I experienced in Springfield, I was will to give it a try since most Thai food restaurants are usually good and generous with their sizes. Service: at the beginning the person who greeted us was had a flat attitude and told us to sit whenever we wanted. After choosing a table, we realized it was dirty; I usually don't mind and the waiter cleaned it right away after I mentioned it to him. Food- Flavor: one of my favorite Thai dishes is Pad Thai. First, the Pad Thai had no flavor and it was somewhat greasy. It felt I was eating plain noodles with oil. Size: the plates are smaller than any lunch sized menu and each plate was $16 to $18. We ended up paying $70+ for three plates and three drinks. Not only the food had no flavor, but we overpaid for three extremely small plates. Sweet or salty - these two flavors stood out the most to us. We were excited to try this place since it was rated the no. 1 in the area but we couldn't understand why. Their Pad Thai was really sweet which is unusual, and their garlic dishes were extremely salty (seemed like a lot of salt was dumped on the food), and the curry was really watery (the plate was flooded with the sauce). On top of that, they're kinda pricey - 13 bucks for a meal of choice. I just don't agree with the price based on the quality of food. The only redeeming quality they have is they have pretty good service. Although I did not like the fact that we couldn't change the tip amount when we were paying. VERY disappointed in the service at this establishment! My family walks in and the server (cute little blonde) rolls her eyes and looks annoyed to see us there. There is one other table of the three eating in the whole place. She looks at us miserably when she asks for our drinks and I said, "no thank you we are going to leave". Tonight was our first night trying this place and we loved it! We got the fried wontons - soo good! We also got pad Thai and the red curry. The red curry dish was our favorite and the pad Thai was good. The pad Thai was much better with the peanut sauce that comes with the satay chicken. We put a little over the pad Thai and it made all the difference! The only thing I wish was better would be the kids menu. The only option that isn't cooked in oil is the white rice and that option only comes with a single spring roll or egg roll. That - in my opinion, is not enough for a kid. Ventured into this place a little apprehensive. We'd moved from Dallas/Ft.Worth not too long ago, but long enough to miss really good Thai cuisine. The atmosphere was eclectic and nothing like any Thai place I'd ever been. The food however was really good and they spice the food according to your taste. I was impressed that in mid-Missouri we found a pretty good spot for Thai food. Some of the reviews talk about poor service but ours was good. We were vacationing at the lake and ordered carry out here: yellow curry and broccoli stir fry. Pros: the person taking our order was very friendly and accommodating, helped customize our order; they offer a delicious red/brown/black rice option for an additional charge; the curry was tasty; our dishes were not drowning in oil; and the order was ready when we arrived for pickup. Cons: While the curry had a good taste, it was extremely dry, lacking in sauce. (I think usually curries are more soupy.) The broccoli stir fry was in a thick, dark brown, gravy like sauce that really coated the veggies, we definitely needed more veggies and less gravy; the serving size was disappointingly small, especially for an evening entree that cost over $15 each. It looked more like a lunch sized meal. Each entree comes with either crab rangoon, spring roll, or egg roll. We didn't want any of these, I'd rather pay less and not have it. Not sure if we'll be back, we may try other places first. read more
