Decided to DoorDash an order from here as I was craving Thai food and was missing Mama Chim's, was hoping this place might fix that, but it only made me miss it more! We ordered the Pad Thai with chicken, spice level 2 (of 5), also ordered Pad Woon Sen with chicken, spice level 3, as well as the chicken dumplings. Decent size portions for the price, the Pad Woon Sen was not very spicy at all for a 3, which is okay, it was the best tasting item we ordered, but nothing worth bragging about. I doubt we will order from here again tbh. The chicken pad thai was EXTREMELY dry, and very spicy for a level 2! The lime was completely dried out from being packaged in the same container as the hot food, but we managed to squeeze a few drops out. Even after adding soy sauce and some additional sauce we had in the fridge here at the house, nothing was able to make it edible and we didn't finish that dish at all. The dumplings were pretty dry as well, not too flavorful, the dumpling sauce was good, but I've yet to taste one that isn't. Even the dumpling sauce couldn't spruce up the pad thai, and that says a lot! Giving 3 stars because there wasn't anything wrong with it per se, it was edible, our orders were correct, portion sizes were decent, price was decent, but food was just bland and looked a lot better than it tasted. read more

This thai place is in downtown Columbia & walkable from a lot of different apartments, but also located right next to a parking garage in case you're coming from further away. It's pretty small on the inside & seems like more of a take-out place. I got the pad thai which was pretty good, but a little dry. I wish there was a little more sauce on it. The tofu that came on it was really crispy & had a good flavor, not too plain. It also came with a lot of peanuts on top, that was my favorite part. Be careful when you tell them a spiciness level. I told them 1 (on a scale of 10) and it was still *almost* too spicy for my preference. Last thing is that the portions are HUGE!! I got 3 meals out of mine, so you defiantly get your moneys worth. Casual place for delicious Thai food. Very reasonably priced. There are a few tables for indoor seating. It is a small place, but nice and clean. The person who took the orders was pleasant. No liquor but offers soda and Thai tea. Fairly generous portions. We ordered the pork eggrolls which came with 3 egg rolls. Pretty good. The dumplings are fried and had 4 pieces. I thought those were OK. Not my favorite menu item. Everything else we ordered was pretty flavorful. We had the Thai fried rice with chicken, pad c ew with beef, and then stirfry garlic chicken. I'm honestly very impressed. Came here for a business trip and wanted something within budget and not fast food, and haven't had Thai in a while. Came in with a to-go order and got the red curry level 3 spice (out of 5, and I like spice but it was a respectable heat level that left me a bit sweaty in the tasty way) and the fried spring rolls. These were some of the most flavorful fried veggie spring rolls I've ever had and the red curry hit the spot!!! Tiny location in the heart of Columbia with bustling University foot traffic. They did a lot of carry out, but we received excellent service. Order at the counter, then everything is brought to you. One of the best Thai restaurants in Columbia! Came here around 2:30PM it was very chill. Servers were very courteous and attentive, food was amazing. I had ordered the Red Curry Fried Rice with pork and my husband ordered the Drunken Noodles with chicken. Both were amazing, we ended up sharing both plates and just eating both simultaneously. Their Thai Tea is amazing and their Green Thai Tea is so delicious! The location doesn't have a designated parking lot so you will have to park off ninth street or off elm and take a short walk, but it is definitely worth it. read more

Food are amazing！But we really don't like the cashier's attitude. We order 1 fried rice and 1 noodles, but they give us 2 order of noodles. When the cashier answered the phone, she even didn't pay attention to us and told us 'just to bring the foods back', so we have to spend another 20 minutes to get the food back to downtown. What irritates me SO MUCH is that the cashier's attitude seems like it is not a big deal at all, even though after we told her it spends 30mins back and forth to deal with these issues. She just staring at us without any words and response. Did she know she is representing this whole restaurant? And what she did today will push us away from Thai forever? Bad servings would never keep a single consumer no matter how tasty the food be. I feel so disappointed about Thai for the first time of five years!!! read more

Hands down one of my favorite places to get Thai Food. The Thai fried rice and the spicy basil stir fry are my absolute favorites! I've tried several other places in Columbia and simply nothing compares. The only reason I give it four stars is because their prices recently went up a bit and they're charging extra for veggies now even if I'm replacing ingredients. This place breaks my heart. Truly. A few years ago, I ate here at least once a week and considered it one of the best Thai restaurants I've been to...and I've been to Thailand. Sadly, a little over a year ago their food really went down hill. It wasn't made the same, it wasn't seasoned properly, ingredients were cooked improperly, and some of it began to taste "from frozen". I figured it was maybe just a rut. I've worked in the restaurant business and sometimes things shift temporarily. New cooks, experimental recipes, new suppliers, ingredient shortages, whatever. Sometimes there's a reset. I deeply felt that Thai Express was so good, it would certainly come out of the rut and be back to the best Thai food in the Midwest. So I didn't go back for about a year. I didn't want my opinion of them permanently tarnished and wanted to give them time to fix whatever went wrong. I went there for lunch this afternoon and ordered takeout. The menu was as I remembered, though prices had increased. I ordered Satay and Green Curry with Pork on spice level 4 (spiciness 1-5). It pains me to say this, but whatever went wrong a year and a half ago, hasn't been corrected. It's gotten worse. First the satay. 3 teeny-tiny pieces of overly dry chicken breast on skewers. They were seasoned well, but their improper cooking and two inches in length left something to be desired, especially for the price. The peanut dipping sauce was so cold and hard it was nearly frozen. It became a cold spread rather than a sauce. I'm not certain how it was made, but the word "JIF" came to mind. To me it was indistinguishable from peanut butter from the jar. The Green Curry. Thickness of the broth was on point. Spice level was perfect. However, the meat and vegetables were severally over cooked. They turned to mush in the stew. For comparison, think of canned meat or canned veggies. I'm not saying these ingredients came from a can. I'm saying they were so badly over cooked they had canned texture. The part that really upset me was the salt level. OMG! The ocean is less salty. It was over the top salt. I couldn't eat more than a few bites. It was really way, way, way too much. It gives me no pleasure in saying this, but I have officially sworn off Thai Express. I gave them the benefit of the doubt, I have remained loyal to them for years, but the fact that they refused to correct what was very obviously wrong with the food for a year and a half... I'm really let down. Thai Express WAS the only place in Columbia to get good Thai food. Well, that era is apparently over. Now there is nowhere that offers good Thai cuisine around here. It truly breaks my heart. I used to love this place. It is for this reason that I wrote this review. I Sincerely hope they wake up and make necessary changes for their own sake, but they have lost me as a customer forever. read more

Been here twice. Both times took take out. Service is fast and efficient. They have a small seating area but it appears most people take out. All menu items are around $ 8-12. I have tried the chilly fried rice and it was yummy. I took the mixed veggies but one could opt for tofu, chicken etc. the second time was the thai fried rice which was ok nothing out of the ordinary. The spice level 4/5 is just right for my palate. They have an assortment of sauce that can be had by the side. Overall worth visiting. And will do so, without making the restaurant feel i am stalking it:-) read more

The first visit was Ok. The seafood noodle was delicious. So I brought my husband there yesterday and ordered seafood soup and rice noodle. Very disappointing experience! The spicy seafood soup was far from the pic shown in the menu. You can find two shrimps and three tiny squids in the soup, and the taste doesn't worth the price at all. The rice noodle was even worse. The soup had a chlorine smell and very disgusting. My husband felt sick when we got home. Certainly won't come back again! read more

Came here hoping to have some excellent pad Thai! It was hot, fresh, but almost too sweet! Not the worst, but not the best I've had. I feel like Pad Thai should be the perfect combination of sweet and savory. The tofu was fried excellent. This place is great for a quick bite. I've been here twice before. I like their tom yum noodle soup. I generally don't eat a lot in one sitting so I like that the size of their dishes are sensible. I get the tom yum noodle soup with only 1/2 the typical noodle portion and it works out well when you're not super hungry. I'd definitely come back here when I'm in a rush. Also their spice levels are legit so I don't recommend anything hotter than level 3 (hot) unless you're accustomed to eating spicy food. read more

YUP! this place is awesome. I have been searching for a good Thai restaurant in Columbia for 6 months. Most of the other Thai restaurants in CoMo disappointed me. They are expensive and tasteless. I was so happy that I gave it a try when I drove by the other day. 1st of all, the taste is very closed to many of good Thai food that I had in California. Their price is reasonable and the quality of the meat is decent at the same time. The lunch combo is cheap and you have a variety of choices. The owner is super friendly and the chef always waves at me when she sees me at the counter. I have been here everyday since I first checked the restaurant out. Try almost all the dishes and nothing that I don't like. Give it a try if you want good Thai food in CoMo. read more
