Seating: The space is not big enough to host people but there's a table or two for pairs right outside. Vibes: Welcome to Mid-Govans, Baltimore! It's a grit and grind area but definitely a nice local residential spot - a diverse area with some nice local gems. Jinji's shop is pretty nice - small intimate but vibrant! I dig the neo-soul music playing and the see through window so you get a glimpse behind the scenes. FOOD/DRINKS: Date Poppers (Recommend) Dates filled with cacao nibs, honey, sea salt, and dark chocolate. I enjoyed the natural sweetness and the chew texture of the dates. Teh cacao nibs gave a nice crunch with an earthy flavor. Peanut Butter Turkish Figs (Recommend) (3 per person) Figs stuffed with creamy peanut butter ganache and enrobed in rich dark chocolate. I can see why they limited this per person. Soft, chewy, and sweet figs with a nice caramel touch to it. The peanbut btter ganache was smooth and nutty and the dark chcolate helped bring some good balance. CUSTOMER SERVICE: I worked with Guy (father of Jinji). Great guy that was very professional and personable TL; DR OVERALL: 5 Stars. Ooooi! If you're looking for some elevated local chocolate, this is your spot. Yes it's a bit higher than your usual chocolate shop but that's what you pay for. When in Baltimore, do consider visiting this place. I wish Jinji and her business all the best. #SupportBlackOwnedBusinesses TIPS: * Ask about their limited-edition or seasonal bars -- they rotate in creative flavors and specialty pieces. * They got vegan options too!

Pros: The taste was amazing, especially the lemon cheesecake. They do a lot of business and have a lot of repeated customers. The neighborhood was in a better part of town. Cons: While the person that helped us was smiling, she really didn't give that welcoming and suggestive help. Their front doors are really small, so if you are a larger person, you will need to go in sideways. Selection was small. Overall it was okay but nothing I would go out of my way to return to.

Hand-making chocolates since 1917, Rheb's is a 4th-generation family business, hidden on Bloomfield since 1950. It's just north of US-1 Wilkens Ave near Caton Ave, in a tiny little stand-alone building with a red tiled roof, a stone-like facade, and a hand-written red neon sign above the white corner-facing door. You'll walk in facing an L-shaped candy counter, with some Maryland-themed products and some pre-packaged treats along the other walls. Take a number by the door if there's a line. We waltzed right up to the counter at noon on a weekday :-) You can buy by-the-piece, or by-the-pound in various size boxes, pre-selected or chosen one or two at a time. We got a boxed half-pound for our friend, one of these, a few of those, plus a handful for ourselves :-), and some Maryland merch. They have so many varieties! We got milk-chocolate, dark-chocolate, white-chocolate. Nut clusters and turtles, chocolate-covered cherries, caramels, creams and buttercreams and truffles, and one "Birthday Cake" vanilla cream with multi-color candy sprinkles over a soft milk-chocolate shell. Each lovingly created original was fresh and more-than-delicious. Now, when you choose your own, you pay by weight, and our box was a little over the pre-made-half-pound $15.60. I promise you, it was worth every penny. (Remember pennies?) Our friend loved her wrapped birthday-box of Rheb's so much that she didnt share a one! She said she finished the half-pound in two days!!! I call that self-control. Our handful of singly selected candies barely made it to our home :-) You pay at the counter where you order. Rheb's Candies is open 9am-4:45pm, closed on Sundays, in the little building on Bloomfield that was originally half of the garage to their home! You can find a classic portrait photo of Louis and Esther Rheb to the left of the candy counter. There's only a handful of street parking spaces out front, but there's a little more about a block away in the neighborhood. Since Aug 2025, they have a storefront in Mt . Airy, too! Road trip!!! Oh, and they ship! But be careful about the temperature en route.

During the fall and especially winter around the holidays, it can be hectic, chaotic, and crowded with folks spilling out of the door and having to endure long wait times, but, I have to say, it's worth it! The chocolates (you can choose from milk, dark,or white for some items) are fresh and made with quality ingredients that keeps folks coming year after year, including me! It was a hot day and this is exactly what I needed to cool me off. First off the packaging is beautiful and in a box with the label on the outside. As a marketing major, I appreciate the branding:) As I sunk my teeth into the sandwich it was so rich and so good. I love a combination of chocolate and peanut butter. I also got a buckeye chocolate which was again chocolate and peanut butter and it just melted in my mouth perfectly. Michelle recommended this to me and I would definitely get it again. There are a ton of chocolate options and candy that you can just relish yourself in as soon as you come through the door. I can't wait to come back here and try something new. Plus, I love the way this shop is decorated and has so much natural light coming in.

When I worked for a broker 40 years ago, we represented Gardner's Candies out of Tyrone, PA. Their Peanut Butter Meltaway was a game changer. Baltimore Review 3/Many: I was at this historical market a few days ago while exploring Baltimore and going to a nearby convention, with this spot being pretty close to our not-so-good La Quinta Downtown hotel. They're mostly known for their namesake cookies, but since I'm not the biggest fan of either black-and-white cookies or chocolate frosting, I went with some Apple Fritters. The fritters were 3 for $5, which was a nice deal. They were large, not overly sweet, soft, had a light cinnamon flavor, and had plenty of apple filling. In short, they were very tasty and made a good snack throughout the short trip. Another person liked their cake donuts, and I concur, based on the piece of the blueberry cake donut I tried. The woman working there was also friendly. The reviews seem pretty mixed here, but I liked the fritter and the price was reasonable.
