When I tell you, I don't ever give 5 stars I don't. But this was just incredible. 5 stars doesn't even cut it. The people, the atmosphere, and jumping out of a plane are all absolutely unmatched! The staff at this location are so amazing. They explain everything clear, make sure you are comfortable, they educate you and when I tell you, I felt SO safe, even in free fall, you know they're doing something right! If you're looking at this review right now just do it. No need to look further this is the place. The staff is very friendly and informative. We received all of our waivers, videos for preparation etc all in advance. Check in was a smooth and short process. The training we get prior is exactly what you'll be doing when it's time for your adventure. My sister took my for my bday and it wasn't a long wait at all for our turn. Rebecca who prepared us for the dive provided additional information, made sure everything was all set and she gave us all a good laugh. Our guides/trainers Chris and Josh are phenomenal. Such energy and did great recordings for us. Now what you're waiting for. 14,000 feet up! It's a thrill. It's exhilarating. You are touching the sky and clouds. There is not one time I felt scared or unsafe. I know I was in great hands and felt prepared. The first thing I said when I landed is that I'll be back again next year. I know a lot of people are afraid to jump out of a plane but at this location they go out their way to ensure you're comfortable and knowledgeable to what's going to be happening from the moment you step into the plane to the moment your feet retouch the ground! I went here last September and I've been skydiving before in Jersey. The instructors here are very nice (but I feel like if I was skydiving everyday I would be in a good mood too lol). I went when it was quite windy out, but luckily the weather got better and I had a great time! Some tips: Always check the weather forecast before you book. No point in going when it's supposed to rain or have heavy winds that day. Also, don't do what I did and go when it's 30 degrees out. Remember it's a lot colder at 14000ft going over 100 mph. If you're going there on a windy or busy day, I would just bring some water or snacks. Just a general rule of thumb when skydiving -- if the weather wasn't good in the morning you might have to wait for previous groups to go first. read more

FREE FALLING FUN Supposedly, Tom Cruise has skydived approximately 106 times to date. Perhaps all those jumps were his motivation to his on screen cover of Tom Petty's Free Fallin' he did in that movie where Cuba Gooding Jr. says "show me the money" and that cute kid with the glasses says the f-word, but I'm starting to get off script. Getting back on topic and to my point, perhaps I could launch my very own acting career in which I base my motivation on that awesome time I first jumped out of a plane over Albion, NY courtesy of WNY Skydiving! Our jump instructor Tim taught us what to do while in free fall mode for our training. We only had one responsibility as a first time jumper: arch. You arch when you extend your arms out, put your feet together and fold them up towards your butt with your belly towards the ground. Then, you just continue to fall for 30 seconds... and it was pretty exhilarating. Tim has tons of experience, with what I believe he said over 7,000 jumps (suck on that, Cruise). After the free fall portion of the jump (your instructor pulls the cord for the chute, so you need not worry about that), it's almost as cool while floating down to the ground. You can seen for miles, and while teaching me to steer, Tim let me spin us left and right, which made me feel like I was on a roller coaster. Jumps costs about $220 per person, with the option of photos/video for an additional $130 (or $100 for one or the other, but why not both?). I strongly recommend the package as it's pretty cool to document this. WNY Skydiving does a good job to not only capture your jump but also caption your whole experience: video of you getting on plane, propellers moving while you take off, asking you questions about how you feel, etc. I would most definitely jump out of a plane here again. read more

I created a yelp account just to give these guys a great review. I don't know what those people are complaining about. We got in there, watched the video, filled out the paperwork and did the training right away. Yes. We waited. But that was to be expected. We had a pizza delivered to the airport, settled in and watched the other people jump. We got to hear some great stories from a few of the instructors while we waited. I'm terrified of heights, and planes (skydiving seems like a natural choice for me, I know). I let my instructor, Rebecca, know and she did a great job of making me more relaxed about the whole thing. Don't expect them to hold your hand while you're waiting. They shouldn't have to, they're making sure everything is running safely. Still scared of heights but I'll be back. read more

This is a line of bull. No one needs to understand the process of aviation when poor business practices are prevalent. My observations of the same are as follows: 1) The girls in charge of scheduling was more concerned with ordering pizza and buying pumpkins to throw from planes then actually getting flights off the ground. 2) There was a plane that was not running. According to the staff, this was because they had just got a new plane and had been using it more. The old plane hadn't been started for week. The battery was dead and kept dying. After 4 hours it finally took off. This is something that could have been easily dealt with before the day before. 3) Tim was rude pretty much the whole day. In fact, he said that they would come right back as soon as the weather improved. They left to throw pumpkins from planes as the skies were the clearest they had been since it started raining. 4) I understand that they are at the whims of the weather like the rest of us. However, they use this as a justification to keep your money. Sadly, this really seems to impact their customer service as they really do not seem to give a shit. 5) I partially take that last part back. I watched Tim ask his instructors if they are willing to finally take Laura and her friend up for a jump. After about 7 minutes of "no I won't do jumps that short" or "its too cold." I definitely give props to Bob. Everyone that jumped with him had a blast. If you do end up going to here, jump with Bob. Also, Bob lands on his feet so be ready. 6) They kept asking if we want to reschedule, we kept saying no. The jump would've gone off at least 3 hours earlier rather than at 6 pm. It really seems like they try to discourage you from jumping when it is an inconvenience. In conclusion, check out some other reviews and places before dedicating yourself to this business. If you do decide to go, pay the day of because you won't get your money back and you will have to force them to take you up. P.S. There was a small foot platform on their strut that they had to keep kicking into place before they finally took it off. This following an incident they laughed about earlier in the summer when a piece of equipment fell off the plane. I think that should be enough said. read more

Had my first ever sport tandem jump yesterday on Sunday 5/7. When we arrived the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. My instructor Mike Maly began our ground training and fitted me with all the equipment necessary to make my jump, ensuring everything fit and was comfortable on me. During this time Mike got to know me and we discussed how this jump was in honor of my friend Dustin Gross who was killed in Afghanistan 11 years ago to the date. We loaded the plane and took flight. Throughout the whole process Mike was there and extremely helpful and trustworthy. With an arm swat from Mike (I was locked in and holding on for dear life) we exited the plane. I had the best experience I think i possibly could have had. Dustin opened the skies for us yesterday and I will never forget it. Mike and the rest of the team at WNY Skydiving are complete professionals and wonderful people. I can't wait to go back and make my next jump! read more

First off, the jump experience itself was fantastic. The instructor I was paired with, Bob, was the best part of the whole day. He was knowledgeable, charismatic, highly competent and confidence inspiring. Top notch, really. As for the whole process itself, they could use someone to keep people informed of what is going on and to explain the impact the weather has on the whole event. I arrived in time for my scheduled jump, and could not jump until 5 hours later. Which is absolutely, completely fine and acceptable, because it is a safety issue having to do with cloud cover and the weather. However, when I showed up, I was just left milling around the hanger area on my own. Nobody approached me or let me know what was going on or where I was supposed to go. If there is signage directing customers, I didn't see it. I was able to identify a staff member, and I asked if there was going to be any jumping that day, and was told that he didn't know. That's it. No guidance, no offering of where to go to wait or when / where to sign paperwork or anything. Just left standing around with my thoughts and confusion, feeling ignorant and like I had annoyed the staff just by asking. My question might have been annoying, but as a brand new person to this whole process, I didn't know that, and nobody really gives you any kind of welcome or anything when you arrive. Then I overheard this same staff member mocking me and others who asked the same questions, mimicking us and going on about how he can't control the weather. He said something like "I'll just fly up and move the clouds out of the way so you can jump. Would that make you happy?" or something like that, to the other staff members. So, that didn't really contribute to the experience. You also pay hundreds of dollars for this experience, and when you are left waiting around for hours (understandable, beyond the company's control), it seems an added insult to have to pay a dollar for a bottle of water. At least give the people who paid 200 plus dollars to jump one complimentary bottle of water or a granola bar or cup of coffee or something while they sit around for hours waiting. Event that one, inexpensive gesture would have gone a long way. All in all, the instructors and pilot seemed like good people who knew how to do their jobs well. The reception staff, if there even is any, could use a little help. read more

The other reviews on here are outdated and I don't think they do WNY Skydiving justice. I had a group of 6 go skydiving with WNY this past Sunday. We were all first time jumpers. It was a beautiful August morning and we got there at 8am sharp. It was sunny out and there was very little wind. We watched a brief video and signed some paperwork, then we did instruction for about an hour as they were setting up the planes. Bob gave us our instruction. He made sure everyone knew what to expect. He was also pretty funny and eased some of our nerves about our first jump. They had 2 planes running. One could take up a single tandem jumper, and the other could take up 2 tandem jumpers. There were other, smaller groups jumping that morning. They did a good job of dividing everyone up so that there was always someone in our large group in the air. Everyone had a blast and felt completely safe. Again, we arrived at 8 and were all done by noon. I will definitely recommend WNY Skydiving to other jumpers. These guys are pros and have thousands of jumps under their belt. They are personable and good instructors. They understand that us first-timers are nervous and have no idea what we are doing! The prices are affordable (we were given a group discount and it came to about 200 a piece). I never felt rushed or anything like that. If you want to avoid waiting all day I recommend making your reservation and payment well in advance, doing a morning jump, arriving on time and going on a nice day! First off- skydiving is incredible. Highly recommended! However, I would not return to WNY. We arrived at 8:02am (supposed to be there at 8am) due to getting lost. This made us DEAD last in the order. The group was already watching the video. We then joined for 15 minutes of training from Mike (one of the instructors). The website states, "If you schedule your jump for the morning, you should plan on spending half the day at the dropzone." We then waited at the hangar until 6pm. 6pm.To make matters worse, it was my 30th birthday. When we arrived, the weather was gorgeous. I realized we weren't even on the list to jump around 1pm and Brandy couldn't tell us even a time frame for when we could expect to jump. I also saw a ton of friends/family of the instructors hopping ahead of everyone to do their own jumps. Perhaps they are getting certified, but it doesn't feel right for someone to show up at 2pm and get to jump ahead of people who have been there since 8am. Around 4pm, it got cloudy. Weather did impact the last 2 hours of the delays... but WNY impacted the first 8 hours. They finally took us up at the end of the day, after they convinced all the jumpers to reschedule and me telling them to just take me up as high as I could get with the clouds, it was awesome. Bob, my instructor, was great. Some other awesomeness: -The "office manager" spent more time ordering pizza and going to buy pumpkins than letting people know when they were going to jump or what they should be expecting in the day. She never checked in with us to see how we were doing/how long it would be -One of the planes had a dead battery and they spent an hour reviving. You'd think they'd check that before 10am day of. -The entire staff left us at the 'office' to go drop pumpkins on a target even though they mentioned if the weather clears up, it may only be for 5 minutes. They were gone 45 minutes. -I met a girl who had come to jump THREE times and not been able to due to lack of time- even though they'd promise she'd be a priority and would squeeze her in. Nope. -No heat -There's no customer service. When I explained I just wanted to know when I could expect to jump, the owner told me that I should leave "for me". -the website says "Smoking is not permitted at WNYSkydiving facilties during business hours" EVERYONE- including instructors are smoking. Everywhere. -97% of the time, the staff was circled in, talking to each other. They were cursing and saying inappropriate things like, "I'd slap that b*tch in the face!" when talking about a parent at a kid's soccer game. Classy, WNY... totally classy. Ultimately, once you pay- they've got your $250. You can't ever get it back. Only keep returning, hoping for a better experience. There won't be one. read more

I did my first tandem jump in July. Just checking things off my bucket list. I loved it so much, I scheduled another for August. It was also amazing. The operation is small but seems to operate well. I went with my husband both times and we didn't wait more then a couple hours for each tandem jump. Bob is awesome, Josh is a blast, and Tim was very patient, good spirited and calm. This was my first skydiving jump and it was a lot of fun. I came with three friends on my birthday and noon. We had reserved our spots online. When we came in the lady made us watch a video then fill out some paper that said we understood the risks of skydiving and would give up all legal rights to sue if there was an injury or death. After that our instructor, Wesley, talked us through the whole process and answered any questions we had. Afterwards we suited up and we went in the plane one by one to jump. Each person jumping took around 30 minutes(there was 4 of us) and the training was one hour. The actual jump experience was really short. When we jumped out of the plane it was about 30 seconds of free fall followed by 3 minutes of parachuting down to the ground. I wasn't scared at all during the whole experience. Our instructor made us all feel very comfortable and it felt like there was nothing that could go wrong. In total I payed $356, it included the tandem jump and video and stills along with an $8 booking fee. Definitely worth the money for the first time but I don't think I would pay that much to jump again. After we all landing we were giving certificates saying we jumped as well as a log book in case we wanted to get our solo license. Overall a great experience read more

This was my 3rd time tandem skydiving. First time at WNY skydiving. I had an absolutely fantastic time jumping here. When you arrive you receive a bit of classroom education about what will be happening and required of you as the student, very easy and clear direction from the instructors. All the instructors were very friendly, great at answering questions and made the overall experience enjoyable. Getting up in the aircraft was fantastic. Even with a high overcast, we were able to see all the way to buffalo and Rochester, which was pretty cool to me. The instructors pointed out everything we saw as we went up and even answered some geographical questions I had. I would highly recommend coming to WNY skydiving if you're from the Rochester or buffalo area. Can't wait to go back and sign up for AFF!! read more

I had my jump today and it went well....amazingly good. I must say that I had a great sunny day and a perfect skydiving weather. My instructor was very helpful....they made sure I should not have any issue or question unanswered. I had a jump and an amazing good experience. They can make the place more suitable for people to sit...May be more clean. Rest I had no issues. I will drop my comments on videos and pictures once I get hold of them. Skydiving has always been a bucket list thing for me. Something I always knew I would do but wasn't sure where. When I discovered WNY Skydiving it was perfect. I made my first skydive with the owner Tim. It was amazing. He was friendly and professional, walked me through the whole process, and even engaged my family who had come out to watch me. I had a blast jumping with him and loved that I even got a Certificate of Completion for my first jump. All in all, a great day of fun! I had such a good experience that I came back for a second jump and brought friends to jump too! The day of my second jump we had issues of time delay because the weather wouldn't cooperate but once it cleared up and was safe to jump we were good to go. Besides, who would want to jump in bad weather? Would definitely recommend to anyone who wants to check skydiving off their bucket list. read more

First time sky diving and I couldn't have asked for a better experience. Tim ran my friend (also first timer) and I through instructions and training in a concise and timely manner that made us feel completely prepared and confident to jump. Very polite staff and flexible as they had no issue holding off the plane for an additional 25 minutes to accommodate for family and friends to arrive to watch. I didn't personally do the photo or video package because of my own silly decision, but how much I regret not doing it should be an endorsement that it is totally worth it. If you're nervous at all about doing it, they will get you where you need to be and Tim has professed to more than 7500 jumps, so plenty of experience to lean on and feel confident about if you're jumping with him. More than worth the cost and I can't wait to do it there again, and that's coming from someone with a crippling fear of heights. Facility: I see some reviews saying dirty or outdated building, it wasn't the most modern lounge area, but the bathroom was clean and there was water available. You're jumping out of a plane, do you need five star accommodations? Service: We were the only 2 jumpers scheduled at our time, but the amount of flexibility they allowed made for a better overall experience. read more

I did a tandem and WNY skydiving last year on the 4th of July Chris was my instructor he was patient and great. I was nervous and everybody there made me feel like family and boosted my confidence. I've been to several skydiving facilities over the years and this is the best operation I've come across. I read the previous reviews before I booked and I was prepared to wait for hours, but it was quite the opposite. My class was at 8am and I strolled on around 7:50. I watched a safety video and waited for everyone to finish up paperwork. About 15 minutes after our video ended, our 8am group was escorted to a training area. The staff was knowledgeable and answered all of our questions. Once we were done with the class we waited in the designated student area. Our group watched other jumpers go ahead of us, but found out that they were experienced jumpers and didn't need instructors; therefore were able to go up several times throughout the day. Once it was our turn we got all strapped up and we had the best jumps ever! Amazing views at no additional price. Bill was our instructor and he was awesome! Previous reviews I would disregard. Either they improved 180 degrees, or the reviews (which appeared to be written on the same day, by the same group) were wrong and don't accurately reflect their business. Thank you Bill! read more

Like others have mentioned, skydiving is AMAZING and everyone should do it. However, I would go with a different outfitter. Our group had 4 jumpers and each ordered the video package. We were scheduled to begin the whole process at 12 pm. We arrived on time and preparation for the jump took MAYBE 30 minutes. We were then told that we need to wait for the plane to be ready. After waiting for maybe 30 minutes, we were told that 2 of our group members would have to jump alone in order to save time and speed up the process. We weren't really given a choice about this matter rather than told that two of us will be jumping alone but we didn't mind because we wanted to speed up the process. After maybe another 30 minutes, one group member was called up for his jump. As he was walking to his plane, the plane "broke down" which meant that they had to go to the store and buy parts in order to fix it. This was not reassuring about safety or about professionalism of this place. You would think that they would have spare parts or a way to fix this process. From this point until our jump, we waited for probably 6 hours, while people who came before us got to go in front of us, friends of the operator went on SEVERAL jumps, and we were just sitting in our straps waiting for any confirmation or information. All 4 people in our group ended up somehow going at different times completely and each had to endure hours of waiting either before or after the jump for the rest of the group. The weather was amazing all day and was a non-factor for this chaos. All in all, our group spent 8 hours at the facility, without so much as a sorry from the employees. The facility is also really small, dirty, and unorganized. One of the planes had duct tape holding something together inside. The quality of the video and pics is really good (get this package!) and Bob was a great instructor. Its a shame, because skydiving was unbelievable but the whole organization of this place is out of control. I cant wait to go again at a different facility because this place pretty much tried ruin our experience.... read more

Tim and the staff at WNY Skydiving made the entire experience unforgettable! Their calm, casual personalities put me right at ease from the start. Tim was very clear during the instructional parts and came across as exceedingly knowledgeable. His vast experience came through with each step as he explained the equipment, the positioning, and the jump process during the preflight training. Once in the plane and in the air, the butterflies were still there but the anticipation not nearly as bad as I thought it would be. All of the guys in the plane kept the conversation going which truly helped with my nerves. Once the door was opened, the jump was smooth and the flying fantastic! To say the experience was indescribable would be the biggest of understatements! You have to do this for yourself. If it's on your list, do it. If you are in Western New York, do it here!
