I have been an established patient of WNC Dermatology for many years. Its been two years since my doctor left and I haven't returned. Knowing that I need to return I decided to call and make a routine appointment. The staff member that schedules appointments is rude and unprofessional. I was completely caught off guard and missed some of the information. I was praying that I did not get her again when I called back..... lucky me, it was her again. She made it perfectly clear that she did not like having to repeat herself due to my prior mishap of getting all my information the FIRST time. I feel like a scolded child! This is just a thought, if you hate your job so bad that you take it out on the patrons that call upon you for a simple appointment QUIT! Currently looking for somewhere else to go! read more

Cold and uncaring. Dr. Cash treated me like an unprofitable customer at a car dealership, not a sick person at a doctor's office.

So having moved to Asheville from Charlotte, I was having a skin issue that was being treated and I needed a new doctor. These folks were on the preferred list of my employer, so I scheduled an appointment to continue my treatments. Located near the hospital, it is centrally located. The office has a good amount of parking and was mostly full when I arrived. I filled out the paper work and the staff were nice getting me set up as a new patient. After a small wait I saw my doctor. Her bedside manner was VERY professional yet not very friendly....I asked questions, but responses were short and just more like why I questioned her approach.........in otherwords, she didn't make me feel good about the process or treatment...nor selling herself on me wanting to be a long term partner/patient.............her assistant also didn't pay attention to the details as I had a sample of products I was using I wanted to have a prescription filled as well as have the area looked at in addition to the main reason I was there..........she noted it, but the doctor left never having looked at it nor any information about the prescription or when I'd pick it up???? The doctor injected me, but unlike my doctor in Charlotte, after a day I had a big bruis on my chin...........which never occurred with 4 treatments with my old doctor in Charlotte.....AND this doctor used a lower dose. All and all and speaking to the star rating of "Meh. I've experience better."....this group...or at least the portion I've had experience with was less than stellar. read more

I went to an appointment my primary care person referred me to at WNC Dermatology with a little bit of hesitation. The reviews here are pretty bad. I found the front desk folks very helpful and friendly, the waiting area was clean and comfortable, and while I had to wait for my appointment--what dr doesn't get backed up?--I was in and out pretty quickly. First, Dr. Ventre treated our son who had skin cancer at a young age. She is a fabulous doctor with a great bedside manner. She is very nice and will answer all of your questions.We are a medical family and have high expectations for quality of care. Dr. Ventre provides excellent care and is extremely knowledgeable about her specialty. Now, the office is horrid. I absolutely dread calling to make appointments. I don't know why they feel the need to over-complicate everything, but they do. The office is stuck in the dark ages. They need to revamp their procedures for sign-in, billing, and appointment scheduling. Hopefully, they will change some of their terrible office staff and get some fresh new energy in there. The medical staff is excellent, and I hate that their front desk staff is taking away from their quality. read more

Seriously! I went in for skin problems- I had been working with my family doctor but felt like I would get faster results or an answer as to what was going on with my skin. I rushed there after getting off work early.....anyways the Dermatologist that saw me asked me what my doctor had prescribed me and gave me a stronger cream I could of done the same thing (and my insurance would of covered it) if I had gone to my reg dr! Since I rushed in after work I had make up on my face-- she didn't even bother to look to see what was going on. To make matters worse, I stopped answering my phone and decided not to go back- waste of time and money. Now I'm being charged for a missed appointment. And they've scheduled me for another one without telling me! Avoid it and go find someone else. read more

My rating is only based on their phone service; I have not actually seen their doctor. I called to schedule a first appointment because they're in my insurance network and I had a painful & chronic skin problem on my hands. They were booked out 4 months. That's understandable so I was disappointed, but not upset. I asked the nurse where I can call to get immediate care. She said, "I really don't know, I'm sorry." I said, "well, can you recommend anyone in the area who deals with skin emergencies?" (I expected her to at least tell me to go to the ER.) "No," she says, "I don't work for other offices, I work for this one. I can't tell you what their schedules are like." Wow. I wanted to be all, hey, did one of your kids crap in your keurig machine this morning? But I just hung the F up. read more

I made an appt. to get my annual skin scan, due to my "fair skin" and mucho time spent in the sun. Dr. Ventre is outstanding Amiable, vigilant, perceptive and funny. I don't enjoy getting my yearly body scan. But with Dr. Ventre, it sure made the event less of a nuisance. Of course her movie star looks and bright smile and calming demeanor also were appealing. read more

Beautiful office with lots of parking. The staff and nurses are exceptionally kind and helpful, I felt like my questions were important and were answered thoroughly. Dr.Rocky Bacelieri is a wonderful doctor! He was patient and gentle during his examination and made me feel much better about my concerns. I will be going back every three months since I had a melanoma removed. I look forward to my next visit. read more

After a six week wait to be seen as a new patient, I was called the day of my appointment as I was driving to their office - they we're informing me that the doctor I was scheduled to see hadn't received her licensing to charge my insurance. So I would be put on a waiting list for one of the other doctors. Needless to say, I'll wait in line somewhere else. I completely judge a doctor by the administrative staff/customer service and this is unacceptable! They should have called last week to let me know when they were going to get me into another doctors schedule. read more

I saw Dr. Ventre for some possible cosmetic procedures. She was curt and defensive.She let me use a handful of expensive lotion which was in the exam room that she wanted to buy at checkout, then she watched me leave the exam room,thinking maybe I was going to take the bottle? Elisabeth H. I have had two procedures performed by Dr.Ventre: on April 30, 2015 she froze off several unsightly growths on my forehead which healed well and left no scarring. And on August 5, 2015 Dr.Ventre used a laser procedure on skin damage on my chest and on many places on my face. These are healing well and I expect no scarring. Before deciding on each of these procedures I had asked her many questions, and Dr.Ventre was patient in explaining everything it would involve-- she was thorough and very professional. Her gentle "bedside manner" (and sense of humor) helped to relieve any concerns I had. I also intend to use Dr.Ventre as my dermatologist for regular checkups. I feel like I am in very capable hands, and would definitely recommend her to others. read more

I love my Dr. Daniel Smith at this office, but it is SO DIFFICULT to get an appointment. The staff at the front desk--(guard dogs) are not friendly or welcoming or helpful. If you have to change an appointment--once you have finally made it, it will add about three or four months to your wait time. They tell you they will call if there is a cancellation, but it doesn't happen. Look elsewhere for a dermatologist. read more

I have to second the other review about the terrible first point of contact when you call to schedule with this office. I was hoping to switch to Dr. Ventre from my normal provider and called about making an appointment. The woman who answered was incredibly blunt and sarcastic, telling me she was scheduling new patients three months out (how is that helpful?). I asked if she kept a cancellation list and she acted like I was nuts and suggested I call daily and ask if there have been cancellations... This is Asheville, folks - you can't be that condescending and expect not to get blasted... I'll stick with my regular provider. read more

I had never been to a dermatologist before and didn't know what to expect. Dr. Ventre was very nice and professional. She answered all my questions and made me feel very comfortable. The nurse in the room could tell I was a little nervous and she also went out of her way to ease my nerves. I would recommend this office to my friends and family. read more

BEWARE! My experience with Dr. Vendre was most unpleasant. If you ask her any questions she becomes very defensive. I was trying to understand some skin issues and she became visibly upset and did not answer any of my questions. She ended the appointment by saying she would not treat me again. I was referred by my GP for a melanoma screen. Was impressed that I was taken back to the exam room with no waiting around. Then I figured out why. Felt more like I was processed through than examined. I had several questions which were never answered. I had two skin tags I asked to have removed. Not done. Was screened, given the sunscreen lecture and out the door. If you are looking for a fast, perfunctory examination, this might work for you. If you would like someone to be responsive and provide individual attention... go somewhere else. read more

I was a patient here for a few years and received good service overall. However, with my last appointment, I had to wait 2-3 months before I could see the doctor. I had a lesion on my head that I thought may be cancerous so 2-3 months seemed like forever. After waiting this long, I was sick as a dog on the morning of the appointment. I sent them a note via their website early in the morning to notify. Once I got better, I tried to reschedule. They said it would be another 2 months. To top it off, when I called to reschedule, the receptionist was very rude. She mentioned that I never notified them of the cancellation. When I mentioned that I sent them a note through their messaging app on the website, she said that they don't check that. Well, if you you don't check it, either dump it from your website or start checking it, good lord, do your job, don't put it on me. This entire time, my head lesion is becoming more problematic. Instead of waiting 2 more months, I called another highly rated dermatologist group on Hendersonville Rd and they got me in in 1 week! Turns out, the lesion was cancerous and I'm scheduled for removal next week. So, I basically wasted 3 months and would have wasted 5 months total if I had just accepted their schedule. My recommendation: if you have plenty of time to wait for the appointment, this is a good group of doctors. The office staff leaves much to be desired, esp. on customer service and billing accuracy. But know that there are plenty of other very good groups with typical wait times of 1-3 weeks, not 2-3 months. read more

Mine was a new patient visit. The only good thing I can say is that Dr. Ventre was nice, for the 3 minutes she spent with me anyway. I waited an hour in a crowded and depressing waiting room for 3 minutes with a doctor. The paper on the table was crumpled and dirty looking as well, as though they did not change it from the last patient. I will not be back and I would not recommend this place at all. read more

If you are a new patient they will schedule months from the date you call, then when a conflict comes up, you get scheduled for months further out. I then forgot the appointment and they reminded me with a voice mail on Friday that I did not pick up until Saturday. Unfortunately, Monday was a holiday and my appointment was on Tuesday morning, so I could not call in advance to cancel, I had another conflict for that day. They charged me a $25 "no show" fee. read more
