I have moved relatively close to this store in the last 6 weeks, so have visited a few times with…read moreit potentially becoming the store where I do my weekly shop. However, I shopped here on the 29/9/2024, spending a total of around £120 (our normal amount), only to receive a parking notice yesterday for £85 for staying over a time limit. Now I have a few problems with this: 1) Punishing customers who spend a lot of money at your store is daft. 2) Most stores have a 3 hour limit, not a 2 hour limit. (This can be seen at the ASDA up the road) 3) Customer Services fobbed me off this morning when I went in to ask for help with it, saying there is nothing they can do, I have to talk to Euro Car Parks. (I know this is not the case, as I previously worked for Sainsbury's, as a customer service manager who had to manage these issues regularly. It is a case of Sainsbury's liaising with Euro Car Parks, a simple email). So I also feel like I have been lied to. As it happens I had a little shopping to do today, but at the point blank refusal to help, I took my custom up the road to ASDA. Furthermore, the same will be the case at the weekend when I need to do the full shop, and this will remain the case, unless something is able to be sorted. So well done, I guess.

I am a regular long time shopper at Ashby de la Zouch Tesco and have yet again had to witness many…read moreyoung staff standing chatting about personal things rather than getting on with their job, trolley collectors chit chatting and having laddish banter, other staff moaning about management and unfairness and rude pickers who are loading large trollies with orders, also chatting and saying customers can put up with what has been put in their order if something is not available, also cutting across other customers. Really makes me consider going elsewhere on a permanent basis, I'm already using other supermarkets on some occasions.

The Tesco at Ashby is a large, but not daunting supermarket. As well as groceries it has a good,…read moreconcise choice of books, toys, clothes, electrical and homewares. So even when doing a regular shop you can pick up those extras too. Like all Tesco I find their pricing average and it is very easy to spend more than you planned on doing! But the choice is good, well laid out and the store is clean. I always find the staff a bit aloof. It is hard to explain but this is quite a dull supermarket. There is a cafe but the times I have grabbed something to eat there it has been very disappointing and really only good for a cuppa if you are parched. The customer toilets are well maintained. There is a petrol station onsite and recycling facilties in the car park.

On the fresh food front you will find fruit and veg, cold meats/cheese, fish, hot chickens, freshly prepared pizza, chinese and indian dishes as well as an in store bakery. In addition thera is a pharmacy, opticians, dry cleaners, McDonalds and Fuel. In fact thinking about it why would you need to go anywhere else. Easy access from the A52.

My main complaint is that at Christmas a display at the top of the escalators offered three for two. For all intents and purposes this seemed to apply to the tins of chocolates. People in a hurry could be easily fooled (as was I) as on going to the front of the display and looking carefully at the small print it actually meant for wrapping and tags. This only became apparent to me when I got home and checked the tab. I have spoken to a number of people who were likewise deceived. Sharp practice Tesco and very poor marketing. Your reward is that I will shop at one of the other supermarkets for a period of three months. You really are better than that !!

This is a fairly good-sized store, which carries most of the usual Sainsbury's range. The fruit and…read moreveg section is particulary good, although I have found that if you go at the wrong time of day, often some of the baskets of veg are empty and don't seem to be re-stocked. This has happened to me several times, even when I've gone in the early afternoon. The fish counter is excellent, and the staff are happy to give advice about how to cook and serve your fish. There is also a very good deli counter, and a fresh bakery. Although this store doesn't sell any clothes at all, they do have some jewellery stands near to the pharmacy, and a very small entertainment section at the front of the shop where you can sometimes find a bargain cd, dvd, book or game. The staff at the tills are quick and efficient, and I don't usually have to wait for too long to be served.

This is a large Sainsbury's with a large carpark. It is next door to a big Homebase so is a good…read morespot to combine grocery and homewares/DIY shopping into one trip. The store itself is bright, airy and well laid out offering the usual Sainbury's fare food and drink wise. There isn't much in the way of clothes etc nor homewares but there again, as I mentioned before there's the Homebase next door. They have a number of special sections including organic, bakery, cheese etc. They carry a very good gluten/wheat free section. There's nearly always enough tills in action so I've rarely had to queue. The customer toilets are well maintained (situated off the corridor that joins the supermarket and Homebase.) A seperate J cafe is next to the supermarket. Being seperate it doesn't get the shop noise and they'd blare in music so its a nice quiet spot for a cuppa before you tackle the weekly shop.

Tesco Mickleover is one of their Superstores (rather than the larger format Extra)…read more Whilst it doesn't carry a wider range of goods it does have an excellent selection of items including Tesco's F&F clothing range. The store can be extremely busy (especially before and after school and at weekends) but there's ample parking which is free for up to two hours. If you struggle with accessibility then there's a lift in the underground car park with step free access into the store and the aisles are easy to navigate. This store doesn't have a coffee shop but the bakery provides delicious breads and plenty of tasty snacks (doughnuts, cookies) and is well worth a visit. Further the store also provides contactless payments (up to £30) which is ideal if you use something like Apple or Android Pay. The staff are really friendly and will go out of their way to help you.

It was a good job I had my receipt because I was asked at the till if I wanted It. He said he stopped me because I walked out of one of the aisle. This is true, after I had paid for my shopping I then looked at some magazines on the rack near the exit. This was an experience which did not sit well with me and I shall not be shopping there again. My suggestion to Tesco at Mickleover is to always give the customer their receipt, and once the shopping has been paid for to then leave the shop.
