We had a seamless experience selling inherited coins with Nathan at Witter Coin. He was patient, meticulous, and I think his prices were fair. Everyone else there was also professional and friendly, especially the security guard/front desk person. read more

My go to place to sell gold and coins. I feel they are honest and legit. Earl was very patient looking through a whole bunch of coins and is knowledgeable and friendly. James Andrew helped me on another day with some gold coins and he's also very knowledgeable and friendly. Went to others, but others seems shady. read more

I worked with Nathan for a smooth and quick transaction. The place has a nice ambiance and friendly staff. Will do business with again!

Great company, staff is knowledgeable and sincere. There's always a lot going on in the shop, buying and selling. Huge selection of bullion and graded products. I live the dynamic price menu the clearly shows buy/sell options for all the popular precious metals. Definitely put on your itinerary of visiting from out of town, and if you aren't local you can find them on the various streaming platforms. read more

Witter Coin - Witter Coin's beautiful neon sign, like. Homing beacon along Lombard St. - Hobby Shops Near Me - San Francisco, California

Wow, this place is busy! I had no idea this business existed. I brought in random coins I found in a box years ago and had them appraised and sold within 30 minutes. Very convenient with parking. There's a friendly security guard who was very welcoming. Professional and kind "numismatist" who explained the rationale behind the estimate. I felt totally at ease and highly recommend! read more

Great service as always. Worked with Nathan today; knowledgeable and personable. I have been to Witter Coin a few times now as an executor of different estates and felt confident in the evaluation of jewelry/coins. It's a comfortable environment and you feel as you're being treated fairly/honestly. Highly recommend this business. read more

A friend told me she had had a good experience at Witter Coin. I took my coins and a watch to be evaluated and I had the pleasure of working with James. Soft-spoken and gentlemanly, he instantly engendered trust and reassurance. He carefully explained each valuation and the history of the coins. I left Witter Coin feeling I was treated fairly and professionally by people who really know their business. read more

Let me start by saying that the buyback team at Witter Coin is excellent. Ben and his team are very responsive, professional, and process payments quickly. I highly recommend their buyback service. Unfortunately, my experience with Witter Coin on Whatnot has been very disappointing, and I cannot recommend that service. I have spent a significant amount of money participating in their surprise sets. When I reached out with a concern, it took a long time to receive a response, and when I finally did, it was vague and did not address my issue. I felt like very little effort was made to understand or resolve my concern. Customer service is an important part of any business. When customers spend their hard-earned money, they deserve timely, thoughtful, and helpful communication. Even if a complete resolution isn't possible, making a genuine effort to assist customers goes a long way. In my case, a better customer service experience could have earned my continued business. Instead, I was left feeling disappointed and dissatisfied. Unless I see meaningful improvements in how customer concerns are handled or changes to the team managing customer support, I will not be returning to their Whatnot streams. read more

What an amazing experience! I arrived five minutes before closing. I had traveled for 30 min to arrive before they closed. When I arrived, I was informed by the security guard that they were closed. I asked him to please ask someone if I could be allowed in due to my travel time. He came out with a big smile and "yes, please come in". He made my day!!! 15 min later I walked out with a check in hand. Service was a "10" experience was a "10". read more

Witter Coin - Gold coins... what an investment! Sold 8-10 coins on Fri - Hobby Shops Near Me - San Francisco, California

I visited here twice to sell paper currency and coins and had a really good experience. Obviously before you come here to sell stuff you need to do your homework to get a rough idea about what your bills or coins are worth. I worked with Joe to sell about a half-dozen paper bills and ended up selling 5 of them. He used to work for PCGS so he is very knowledgeable about how to grade bills (none of mine were professionally graded). He really knows his stuff. I then worked with Brandon and Ben to sell my silver and gold coins. Ben is their expert in this area and was really efficient to work with as he appears to be very knowledgeable. I then worked with Brandon to identify which coins to sell and complete the transaction--I sold a number of them. The people here are very enjoyable to work with, professional, and I feel I got a reasonable amount of money for those items I sold. read more

Making a appointment 1st moves things along. Professional. Fair pricing. Explained the selling process.

Witter Coin has the friendliest, welcoming, helpful and knowledgeable staff. I went in to get a they're opinion on a few coins I had and Andrew was so helpful, he was so friendly and welcoming and answered all my questions and pointed me in the right direction with my coins. It's so clean and organized inside the show room, I felt like I was in a museum. Nathan had such a wealth of knowledge on the coins and paper money. I felt like he was giving me a guided tour. You really can tell how passionate the employees are about the field they're in. Highly recommend coming in for a visit or to do business. I've been to other coin stores in my area and I see why Witter Coin is considered the best. read more

I recently visited Witter Coin to sell a collection of coins, and the experience exceeded my expectations from start to finish. I went to a few other locations to get appraisals and witter coin was the highest offer for my collection. From the moment I walked in, I could tell this was a place with real history and a deep respect for numismatics. The atmosphere reflects decades of knowledge, care, and passion for coins. Nathan provided exceptional customer service and truly made the experience stand out. He took the time to carefully evaluate my coins, explain their history and value, and answer all of our questions without ever making us feel rushed. His friendly and approachable personality made the process comfortable and enjoyable. The shop itself is full of history, and you can really tell that everyone working there has a genuine passion for coins. It's refreshing to visit a place where expertise and customer care go hand in hand. I highly recommend Witter Coin to anyone looking to buy or sell coins. read more

Ben is awesome. As soon as I stood up to the door, I was greeted by a very friendly security guard. As I entered the place, I could hear all the employees and they were all very personable. I was lucky enough to get the staff member, Ben. He was extremely professional and very kind. read more

Service was quick and friendly I didn't buy I sold . I think it was fair and they gave me the option of cash or check.

Great experience at Witter Coin today! Andrew was professional and personable, and he made the process of going through all my metals as painless as possible. I've already recommended Witter (and Andrew) to some friends! Just for additional info, I went on a Tuesday morning about 10:30. I had no appointment, but did not have to wait and I was also able to park in Witter's lot, which I really appreciated. read more

I decided to conduct my own scavenger hunt this weekend--not for hidden tokens, but for the truth behind the "expert" branding at Witter Coin. While they spend $50,000 on marketing to create "Gold Rush" hype, the actual experiences of the public reveal a much darker pattern of predatory behavior and technical incompetence. The staff here are not the numismatic experts they claim to be. They are retail middlemen who are functionally blind to raw discoveries. I presented a raw 2026-D Mayflower quarter with severe, undeniable terminal die state errors. They cursorily dismissed a Population 1 discovery specimen as standard "pocket change" and offered me 25 cents. It is now clear that if a third-party grading company like PCGS hasn't already slabbed a coin and told these "experts" what to think, they have absolutely no clue what they are looking at. My "scavenger hunt" for the truth found that I am not alone in being targeted by this lack of integrity: * **Abii** documented a staggering $842 lowball offer on gold jewelry compared to its actual melt value (I have included the photo of their offer as evidence). * **Jon Diblier** proved their appraisals are consistently lower than actual professionals like Polyak Precious Metals. * **Jonathon Hansen** and **James Hall** both documented the same dismissive, "walk-away" treatment I received when presenting items that required actual diagnostic skill to evaluate. It is the height of irony to host a treasure hunt when you lack the professional ability to recognize actual treasure when it is placed directly in your hands. You don't need a grading company to tell you what a unique discovery looks like--unless, of course, you aren't the expert you pretend to be. The public should be wary. Between the predatory lowballing of gold and silver and the total lack of technical knowledge regarding raw errors, the "expertise" at Witter Coin is a hollow shell. They rely on the heavy lifting of grading companies because they cannot do the work themselves. I have attached the photographic evidence below: the technical diagnostic of my discovery specimen and the proof of their predatory offers to others. You're hunting for gold this weekend, but you missed the diamond I put on your counter. read more

Highly recommend this place! I stopped by a few days ago after hearing good things and they didn't disappoint. The shop is large with convenient customer parking, and everyone was very welcoming. Great place to buy & sell bullion and coins! Ben was super helpful and they even had complimentary refreshments! 5 stars all around!

This was my fifth visit to Witter Coin, and I wanted to recognize the excellent service I've consistently received from James. James has assisted me on three different visits, and each time he has been incredibly informative, patient, and professional. As someone who is relatively new to coins and bullion, he has always taken the time to explain things clearly without ever making me feel rushed or pressured. His knowledge, respectful approach, and willingness to educate have made the experience enjoyable and comfortable. In fact, James has been one of the main reasons I keep coming back to Witter Coin. Great customer service, great experience, and a great place for both beginners and experienced collectors. Highly recommend! read more

Love this place! I have sold quite a few items with them and they are always professional and fair. I've always worked with Ben and he always has been polite and professional. I highly recommend them. read more

Professional and legit, I felt like I was in good hands. Staff was very knowledgeable and courteous.

I had to downsize my coin collection a bit and looked for some places who could provide a proper appraisal and would take them in at a great price. As soon as I enter, a friendly security guard logged me in and I waited my turn and had the pleasure of interacting with Ben. He is super knowledgeable, friendly and professional. In the end, I came out with a great price on my coins and other precious metals. Would HIGHLY recommend this place if you are local in SF or around the area if you are coins or precious metals to sell or even buy. The best part is that they have free parking as well! read more

I love the other reviews; if I had unique coins I'm sure I'd come here. But I don't have one-of-a-kind precious coins; I'm selling precious metal items whose value is the underlying metal. This is quite common (Kruggerands, sterling silver bowls, etc), and other firms--online and local businesses--can and do quote what they'll pay; a typical quote will be something like "We're paying 90% of spot market for sterling silver." What that tells us is whether it's worth driving down to a location and showing them the actual items. If the verbal quote is "We'll pay UP TO spot" don't waste your time; that's not a quote; that's a trick to drag you in. Witter did not make some BS "up to..." promise, and I respect them for that (and gave them an extra star for that). But there is no reason a company buying/selling common gold or silver items shouldn't be willing to provide a quote over the phone. read more

James at Witter Coin provided outstanding customer service. I visited for the first time earlier this month and he was patient, knowledgeable, and not pushy at all. He took the time to explain my questions and showed me different bullion options so I could make an informed decision. Because of how well I was treated, I came back as a return customer. Great experience overall. read more

I want to thank the Witter team for helping me sell my collection of coins. They are very professional and have the most streamlined process for collecting and distributing gold and silver coins. They have a large staff and Jack took care of me during the wire transfer. Thanks you guys for making it so simple and good experience. read more

I have made multiple purchases through my business (e collectibles) and have ALWAYS been extremely satisfied. Most coin dealers will, at best, give "deals" that are interpreted as 1 dollar under normal retail. This is not the case with Witter. I have always felt that I received a near wholesale, if not wholesale price for beautiful merchandise. They don't price gouge on junk. Witter is my go to for higher end, hard to find coins as well. read more

I'm not a collector and my visit was kind of a one-off. Knowing nothing about that world, I found them to be very smart, professional and friendly. Not sure if I'll have this kind opportunity again but if I do, i won't think twice before returning. read more
