We were married in September of 2012 and were lucky enough to have chosen Wisteria Place for our ceremony and reception. For our wedding, this venue was perfect. At first we had concerns about the size of the inside area for the reception (it is a converted house) and the distance (we are from North Dallas, and it is in Mesquite), but it comfortably held more people than we originally thought, the patio made for great seating, and it was worth the distance for the pricetag and the seclusion. We have been to other weddings where the ceremony is held outside and the guests had a hard time hearing, but luckily we did not have that issue here, the area surrounding the venue is nice and quiet.
Peter, the owner and manager, is a really sweet guy that will work with you on anything you need. He was understanding and helpful in many ways - when we stayed past out allotted time, two of our guests had a fight, and throughout the normal chaos of preparation. He let us come out to plan several times and didn't mind meeting us after hours. Since we have been married, we have run into him a few times and he still remembers us and takes the time to talk with us (I hope that isn't a bad sign on our part). I can't sing his praises highly enough.
Parking is a little slim, but there is extra guest parking off to the side of the road. The changing room is very small and can be cramped if there are many people. I regret not getting more time to set up (my own cheap fault).
Our ceremony was outside under the gazebo by the pond, and our reception was inside and on the patio. For our 150 or so guests, it was a great size and layout.
This is a beautiful venue, with a helpful and caring staff, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking. read more
