Based on the exceptional reviews, I called Schrader to come out and fix the problem. They sent technician Michael Badgley. I was initially given two quotes, one for roughly $800 and the other for $4,000. After a quick inspection of my home, Michael determined that he would have to dig a hole in the back yard at a cost of $5,700. While I didn't really understand how the quotes kept changing, I agreed to the scope of work as I'm not a plumbing expert and needed to get the stoppage resolved quickly. Bewildered, I later sent the receipt to my neighbor, who informed me that my house was pier and beam, not slab as it indicated on the quote. I recalled Michael asking me where the crawl space was and I wasn't able to identify it (my fault as an uniformed homeowner) although I showed him the area I thought it was in inside the master bedroom. He passed right over it without a second look. Later, after speaking with my neighbor, I was able to go over and find the crawl space myself easily. Michael fixed the pipe under the toilet in the main bathroom and then proceeded to tell me that I would need to replace all of the pipes at my house at a cost of $30k. He couldn't even assure me that the problem I had just handed over $5,700 for was fixed. The icing on the cake was the $100 bill that I had tucked into my lunch tote on the kitchen table in view of the technician, and when I returned later it was missing. That was certainly my own fault for leaving it unsecured. I was concerned about the entire process and wrote to the owner, John Schrader. I waited several days with no response to my email or phone calls, which spoke volumes to me as a customer. After my third attempt to contact him, I was finally passed off to a service advisor. I explained my concerns to him, that the crawl space was never properly identified and that I wasn't sure that the repair that was done was necessary. He offered me a refund of $750 "to remove my bad review" which I hadn't yet written. Less than 2 months later I experienced the same stoppage. I called Schrader again and was told that the pipes needed to be replaced. I finally called another plumber who identified the source of the stoppage, this time to be at the front of the house instead of the rear. They fixed the problem for only a fraction of what I paid to Schrader. He explained that the first repairs were unnecessary. If you like being robbed, by all means give Schrader Plumbing a call. I absolutely feel violated and taken advantage of as a single female homeowner. If you want to save your hard earned money and get the job done right, get a second opinion.

Unfortunately, my cell phone was charging and I did not get his calls or texts to make sure I was home. He assumed I wasn't here and went out on another job. It was after 5 when I saw he had tried to contact me and I text him back. He was already home after a long day. He asked if he could come in the morning, but I wasn't going to be home. So, even though I didn't answer his phone calls/texts, and he was a good 30 minutes away with traffic, he came right out! I knew he wasn't going to be happy, I know I wasn't. But, when I opened the door, he had a big smile and asked....who is more unhappy right now - you or me?? We both laughed and he gave me a hug. This plumber is great. He got right to work. He had my water heater draining while he fixed the leak in the toilet upstairs. He gave me advice on the bathroom remodel I will be doing shortly and told me to make sure the contractor does certain things before laying tile, etc. He had the heater installed in no time and explained how it works. He showed me the corrosion on the old water heater and explained why my pressure wasn't great. He also took apart my kitchen faucet to do some adjusting and improve the water pressure when he noticed it was running slower than it should. All this took him an amazingly short time and he cleaned up. Most would have rushed through the job to get out and back home, but he took the time to do the little extras. For $1400 he did a lot of work and I couldn't be happier. If I ever need a plumber again, I know who I will call. He's good, he takes the time to explain everything, and he charges a very reasonable price. He also explained to me why he always calls first before coming over. He's had people make appointments, he blocks off the time and drives to their home only to find they either forgot or changed their minds and aren't home. So, it made sense to me why he didn't come when I didn't answer. Sorry Tiho. Next time I need a plumber, I will definitely call you and I promise to answer my phone when you call to make sure I'm here!

Since no one ever pressure tested the system, I have had a significant leak behind my range for 3 years. Not only could we not get them in a reasonable time (understandable), but there has been absolutely 0 accountability, and I have been getting transferred from person to person for 3 weeks. I spent over $1000 to fix their installation issue, and I can't even get the records from the original service. Absolutely terrible way to run a business. Shout out to the team from Hukill's plumbing - Jordan and Joseph who came to help with some…read moreplumbing needs. What initially created the need for the call was a gas fireplace that would not ignite I had previously tried ChatGPT, called a chimney sweep company, and even called the previous owner of my house, all to no avail. Within a few minutes of of arriving, Jordan was able to locate the hidden shut off for the gas fireplace and get it working pretty promptly. While here, he was able to notice a couple of other things that needed attention. My tankless water heater had been installed incorrectly by the previous plumber, and the technicians from Hukill's were able to manage that.
