After requesting quotes on Yelp, I got a slew of phone calls from different companies asking if I wanted to make an appointment for an estimate. At 8pm, Nick called and instead of pitching himself to do the repair, he gave us some suggestions as to what the problem could be and how to fix it. Following Nick's suggestion, we made a quick trip to Home Depot, bought the $40 piece, replaced the broken piece. The fix took less than ten minutes and just as Nick had said, the furnace was working again! Never, in my 29 years of home ownership, has a service person ever turned down an opportunity for a job that probably would've cost several hundred dollars (not including the initial diagnostic fee)!! Nick showed himself to be a stand-up guy who wasn't just looking to make a buck off me. And if in the future, I have any other HVAC needs, Nick will be the first person I call. Kathy (the wonderful person who set up our appt. ) was awesome, patient, kind, ultra professional and "light hearted..." Superior interpersonal communication skills.. As a small business owner, I appreciate excellent customer care. The sales rep came over who was also super professional, mindful and articulated the process and what was needed in basic terms for me to wrap my head around (I'm not very domesticated!!!)... I set up the appt. for installation and just two weeks prior to moving forward with the installation, I had to cancel the install due to the owner of the home going into a group home (I'm the Trustee and guardian).. I could not move forward if my ward is placed in a group home prior to installation... All of that said, I called Kathy and explained the situation and she was so kind, empathetic and completely understanding of "life happening..." as inconvenient as life can be and getting in the way of our plans, "stuff" happens... But they are not the excellent family run business they previously were. The owner Scott Oest who I've had a relationship with for all those years is no longer the owner do I assume they've been bought out by some larger enterprise thereby ruining all the best things about the company. I have 2 homes that I've had annual maintenance contracts with for decades but when they sent me the new contracts, the price is 20% higher and the service provided is less. I proceeded to make appointments for service provided by the contracts from 2025 and they subsequently cancelled one which had to be rescheduled and I had an appointment for today from 8-12 and when I called them at 12:40, I was told that I cancelled the appointment which I did not do. I was also told that they sent me a text confirming the cancellation which they did not. I requested that Scott Oest call me as we've had a decades long relationship. I received multiple calls from them telling me that Scott would not be calling me because while he no longer owns the company, he now runs sales. I told Michael that I don't care what he runs but I just want to talk to him. They told me that he will not be calling me, so now I will no longer be doing business with them. It's a disgrace but all good things come to an end!!
