I was just here for my first magic sleek with Marie (the owner) on 9/25/21. I cannot say enough how happy I am with the service. I have been getting my hair straightened with everything under the sun, mainly Japanese straightening, for the better of 20 years. In the past few years the Japanese treatment has left my hair a little damaged, and it hasn't come out as good as it used to for whatever reason. I had heard about the magic sleek and decided to book a consult a month ago. Marie and the entire staff work as a great team, they tag team and are super efficient. The attention to detail is superb. I bought a groupon for balayage and haircut. A really great deal. The lady that did my balayage did a really good job with the color the only thing she wasnt is like really friendly and she ripped my scalp almost off while brushing my hair through. It hurt that bad that tears went down my eyes. Im forgiving because my color came out really really nice. A asian guy cut than finally my hair and he was super gentle and nice and did a good job with the cut. Overall the salon is very dirty. From the salon its self to the restroom. If they would do a big cleaning and the color lady would look more friendly and would talk more that way the salon could get full 5 stars. read more

I went to Wisdom Salon on March 19, 2020 to get a Magic Sleek treatment done. I colored my hair, as you can see, and naturally have very curly hair (see picture). My curly hair looks nice for about 10 minutes after a shower, and then is a mess. Its easily tangled, big (gets even bigger with the slightest humidity), and rarely if ever styles to something presentable. So for me, I just need something more manageable where I can shower, brush, and go. I had my first keratin treatment ever done around the first week of February 2020, and by the time I went to Wisdom Salon in March, it was coming out so much it almost seemed like I didn't have a treatment done at all. When I got to Wisdom Salon, the owner was the only one there and she consulted with me, willing to do another keratin if I really wanted, or to do this thing called a Magic Sleek. For me, since I exercise heavily 5-7 days a week with at minimum a 3 and a half mile run (and so washing my hair everyday is basically a must) I decided to go with the Magic Sleek which isn't supposed to wash out the way Keratin does and allows you to enjoy the pool or ocean, or a run in my case. It is also supposed to last 4-6 months before coming out and even then your hair should not do an immediate and full reversion to whatever the natural is. I was hesitant at first after reading horror stories of hair breakage and wasted money, but decided to give it a go. The pictures I took of my hair straight are as of June 10, 2020, so almost 3 months. As you can see, closer to my roots, my hair is crinkling up again, but the reat has remained straight. I didn't blow dry or use any sort of straightening tool for my hair, I usually just wash it, comb it and then let it air dry. I'm guessing that the amount that is no longer nice and straight by my roots is just from my hair growth. It's not too bad, and could probably be fixed with some quick blow drying, although I'd prefer my hair to be straight without the heat effort. For me, I'm not sure if the amount coming out is truly just my roots, or if the hair didn't take as well. I'm not how it will look in another month or two, but for now, it's still not bad. The owner was really great also. Very nice and patient during the almost 8 hour process this took! read more

I got the magic sleek done by Marie. She was very informative and explained the process. The process does take a while. I was at the salon from 930am to 3pm. My hair feels smoother than how it was before. I even showered after and washed my hair it took a few minutes to style. I'm happy with the result. I would recommend. read more

I gave 3 stars because I was here once before for the magic sleek and was very happy with the results the first time. However, my hair was brown at that visit and I went to a different person. This second visit was a week and a half ago. I am currently blonde now and have always taken very good care of my hair. My hair may have been a bit dry before the visit but not damaged in any way shape or form. I went to elsy, who btw is not very friendly. That's fine, I don't need you to talk or be friendly, but, if you're someone who needs that while at a salon, she's not your person. To make a long store short, my hair is fried now. I'm not sure what I'm going to do, as I think the only thing I can do it cut all the damage off. My ends are done, I have used everything I own. From it's a 10 to Kérastase products, oil, coconut oil. All sulfate free products as well, Everything! Just be careful when getting this process done. Too much heat from the flat iron will kill your hair. I believe this is what happened to me. read more

I do not recommend this place. The owner, Marie, is extremely rude and plays favorites. I had an appointment scheduled for 4pm and arrived early (330pm) and at 430pm, Marie was walking away to attend her other customers evem though my appointment was scheduled with her. She said she didn't know she was supposed to blow dry my hair so she just left me waiting in my chair without any acknowledgement. I just had my third Magic Sleek done with Elsy. She is meticulous and takes her time ensuring very tiny small section is done and ironed properly. It is a long process but well worth it since I can go in the pool or beach after the initial one week period. I also love being able to wash your hair right away. I've recommended to friends and they've all been happy with their Magic Sleek results. My hair feels so silky, healthy, and smooth. Also, I should add everyone was wearing masks and I saw chairs being disinfected between washes and cuts/treatments. read more

Today was my first visit to this lovely salon. I've been searching for my hair stylist 'Kelly' for over a year. I moved and when I came back to the area I texted her to discover she's at Wisdom Salon. I was delighted to have found Kelly again! She's a NYC experienced stylist and top notch in all phases of hair. This is my second visit here. The first visit was good but the second visit was really bad. Kelly was doing Magic Sleek for me and when she started ironing my hair she was pulling it so much that it was hurting me. I told her twice that you are hurting me. She said your scalp is sensitive. This has never happened to me. I have gotten my hair straightened using a straightener many times in the past. I won't be returning there now. Also, the staff is not very nice compared to other salons. Kelly has no customer service skills. She can't even smile and make the customer feel welcomed. The hair care products are outstanding and much gentler on my unruly hair. Nothing is too much trouble for Christine, and I actually look forward to getting my hair done. I rarely have to wait more than a few minutes, and whether Christine or Cathy does the color I always get compliments on my hair. Im so glad I found this place. Marie did an amazing job on my hair. I wanted balayage and more blended look with my grown out color. She took the time to listen to what I wanted and explained what she could do. Shes very friendly and we had good conversation. I appreciated that she made sure everything was clean before I sat down. She really takes her time and made me feel comfortable. Alex did my hair cut and blow dry. Alex and Marie gave me their recommendation on how much I should cut to achieve a more healthy even look. First off the salon instructs you not to purchase the groupon they will directly honor the price. Once in shop Taravsaid only for new clients but website says within 12 months can purchase another groupon. She said Marie okayed use of groupon even tho I had visited in May of 17 not quite a year ago . Then I asked her price of deep conditioning Tara said it was included in groupon. The groupon for root touch up and blow out for 29.00 did not include deep conditioning she said shes sure they have one that did. When I went to pay I was told 55.00. I hate to write this review because I know once I write this review I'm gonna have a problem getting appointments at this place OK they do a magic sleek straightening on you which has no formaldehydes no ammonia totally natural it lasts for 5 months depending on how you wash your hair I use the shampoo they supplied me with I got it done again today I use Marie she's amazing she knows exactly what she's doing she takes her time the place is clean especially with Covid now and I can't recommend it highly and the price I'm not even gonna to tell u the price(not expensive )soooo Call her I promise u will love it!! So happy with my results! I got the Inverto Keratin Treatment through Groupon. My hairstylist was Angelica. This keratin treatment was the best one I've ever gotten! It has smoothed and actually straightened my hair so much. I wash my hair on Saturday and quickly blow dry it. It is totally straight the entire week after that! I couldn't be happier! Okay so let's start at the beginning. I bought a groupon for this place new to the area so I wanted to try a lot different places to you know find the one. This place actually seemed promising a lot of mentions of the stylist Marie on Yelp really excited. So I make my appointment for Valentine's Day which should have been amazing but I was hospitalized the day before due to a back injury during pregnancy so after I was released I thought I'll keep the appointment I'll see how I feel tomorrow after all it was VALENTINES DAY! Unfortunately I was still in pain by the time they called to confirm so I let them know I could not make it, very apologetic and made sure to let them know I'll reschedule when I feel better. To which then whoever was on the line really was upset. Even made a passive aggressive mark to the extent of thanks for calling and letting us know when clearly I didn't call I picked up there call. Whatever I kind of chalked that up to a little misstep. No biggie. I call maybe 1-2 weeks later on a Saturday to reschedule and I was told that they don't take Groupons on the weekend, and Marie will not take a groupon client. Well alright. I guess it's not worth their time. Idk. I was thoroughly put off at that point. And to be fair on Groupon it does list some of the stylists that are a no go, however no where does it say no weekends. Alright we are at the THIRD attempt to make an appointment today, and I have tried calling 3 times today and it says they are open however no one is even answering the phone. Idk. I've been to salons like this and I'm hesitant for this place to even touch my hair because if they right off the bat don't care for clients especially a potential continual new one, then what would they do to my hair? Really disappointed with the customer service of this establishment. I think overall people are saying the same thing. People here are not nice. There are so many salons as a consumer why would I give my hard earned money to a place I don't like going to? I went today with a groupon and I couldn't be more happy. Alex did a bay algae and a cut. I've had reddish hair and nobody and I mean nobody could ever fix it. I was there for almost 8 hours. My daughter received a groupon for her birthday. We make an appointment for the magic sleek express, but upgrade to a full magic sleek, we needed to return. No big deal. When we go back Maria the owner tells Alex the Guy doing hair put 20volume.. he looks perplexed I'm taken back, I've worked in a salon for over 20 years 20 years ago, thinking why would u put peroxide in that? I follow to see what's going on, Alex and Marie come out from behind the curtain.. he puts whatever on her hair she gets up he start the magic sleek treatment he says if your head starts to it tell me bc some ppl get itchy.. and puts her under the dryer and within 5 mins her head in burning.
