I put in requests through Angi to install a couple of thermostats and this company deserves a bad review without even hiring them. I responded to their first text asking for a general hourly rate or project quote. They refused to give me any kind of a quote--come on they're a couple of four wire thermostats! Since then, over the last two days, they have texted and called non-stop. 13 missed calls, some of them repeated three times minutes apart--that'll make me want to answer NOT, and 4 unanswered texts--take a hint! All of the other contractors I sent requests to also replied with similar "no quote" provided messages though they stopped there. I am now seeing why people get so fed up with contractors. I called Wire One on a recommendation to do a simple re-wiring job involving an existing outlet. While the work was performed fine and the technician was friendly, I don't think the company was up-front. I was told there was a $39.99 standard service fee. Turns out there was a separate $39.99 "incidental expense variances" fee that was not disclosed when I made the appointment. It also appears this company is based out of Iowa and tries to look like it's local. The technician also pushed to do a "safety check" of the home that resulted in a recommendation of nearly $3,000 in additional work. I thought the fee for the actual work was high, considering the job maybe took 30 minutes after he got done with the "safety check." Again, I got my job done fine ... but I don't think they were transparent, it was pricey and I didn't appreciate the up-sell. I'll go with someone else next time. read more

All the work I had them do to install an EV charge station (2 ports) had to be replaced. The chargers were installed at different heights and it just looked wonky. One of the power chargers literally fell off the wall. The guy just screwed into drywall, ignoring the studs, with only 2 of the 4 screws (why didn't he at least do the other two screws?). I was having Solar installed after that and Wire One's work on the EV charge wiring failed inspection with unsafe wire gauges. So all of the work had to be replaced by the other electrician. I am generally easy going and understand that sh*t happens but they do dangerously sloppy work. Ended up being a total waste of money and a lot of hassle to fix. read more

Scheduled twice with this company and after rescheduling my day and then waiting for their four hour window, they cancelled not once but twice on me. Needless to say I'm not going to schedule again and have them cancel on me again at the last minute. Do not recommend unless you like being disappointed read more

I lost a day awaiting the technician only to be called at the end of day to reschedule. Unfortunately Wire One offered no accommodations to prioritize my service. Hired WireOne to install an antenna in my attic. The service was o.k. but there was no extra effort to make sure I was getting the best reception possible. I would have been o.k. with an o.k. job were it not for the exceptionally high price. They quoted in advance and the price was over $400. I figured fine they are going to do a "bang-up" job or it is going to take longer than I expected. When they finished it was pretty much it is there, pay me and on to the next job. It only took two hours and a price of over $200 an hour is ridiculous for an electrician. Will never hire them again. read more

Called this company to replace 3 simple wall switches because the nobs broke off. They would not give a quote over the phone and made sure we understood there would be a $69 fee for a service call. We agreed because they were the only firm available for two weeks. Now we know why. There estimate was $540. I declined and found a local firm that came in a week and the bill was $145. Overcharging!!! I needed 3 baseboard heaters and 2 thermostats, which I already purchased, wired and installed, in my home. I went through Home Advisor to find electricians for the job. I was contacted by several businesses for the job. I decided to pick 3 for an estimate. The electrician from WireOne came out and gave my wife and I an estimate of just over $5000. I got two more estimates for my job from two other reputable companies on Home Advisor, one estimate was for $840 and the other for $660. Unless you like giving money away, please get a couple of estimates. read more

Short story - WireOne did not show up during the scheduled 3 hour window - 2 times in a row. Both times they cancelled at the last minute. Super unprofessional and caused me to take off work for no reason. Would recommend using a different electrician. Long story - Scheduled an appointment to have WireOne come out to do some electrical work. They gave a 3 hour window of when the technician would show up. About 2.5 hours into that window, they text to let me know they have to cancel the appointment because they don't have a technician available. I reschedule for the next week into a 4-7pm slot, because I can't take off work again. The dispatcher assures me that she can put a note in the appointment saying the electrician should not show up earlier than 5pm because the customer won't be home. Well she was right, he didn't show up before then - or at all. I get a call saying my appointment was cancelled because their tech "got done early" at the last job at 3pm and I wasn't available at that time, so they sent him elsewhere. Overall a pretty terrible experience that cost me vacation hours and did not result in any electrical work getting done. Would recommend using a different electrician. read more

I hired WireOne to come and replace some switches and outlets. I gave the electrician a list of things I wanted fixed. He gave me 3 quotes. I reluctantly took the highest quote because I just wanted to get it all done at once. He fixed a few outlets and then said he was done. I asked about the other outlets upstairs and he said those would be an addition $89 each!! I tried to get the company to reimburse me some of the money since all of the work wasn't done and was yelled at by the woman in the office who then hung up on me and claimed it was an "accident" when I called back. This is a very unprofessional place and would strongly advise using them. read more

If I could rate a 0 I would. I have called Wire One twice now and taken off work, rearranged my schedule, missed birthday dinners, and work. Both times, they didn't call me to cancel, they just didn't show up. This time, I have a big rig RV that is $160,000.00 that my family is coming to visit in less than 48 hours with and needed a 50 amp put in my garage so their refrigerator, air conditioning, ect doesn't get ruined by not plugging it in. I call them as I got text messages that they were coming but when nobody showed up TWICE now, I get the same response, they had a emergency. Although, they aren't considerate enough to call and cancel or tell me about it and now I am about to have a emergency. Then they say they can come the next day which I already have all my appointments I rescheduled to get them in for today so that isn't going to work. The owner is so unprofessional that he told me that he will be sure to put me on the "do not service" list. Or darn, I don't get a company to be unprofessional anymore, what a bummer. If you are taking off work, rearranging your schedule, or making time for them; don't bother. They won't show up, won't call to cancel, and they will expect you to do all the leg work to continue to rearrange your schedule. When people get back to work and business' aren't so busy, they will see the repercussions of their actions. read more

Very bad business I have on going concussion symptoms so when its active I can do tech work my upstairs electric went down I called them shawn came out over charged me and rewired the outlets and switches it lasted 2 days I called alot no response I finally got tools and checked out my wiring he had the switch wired wrong the outlets had broken wires he worked on and on top of he broke ceiling over the closest up stairs still no response. I was connected with WireOne through Home Advisor. Now, as I write this, I would have rather been connected to a virus on my computer. I have had many projects done throughout the years by using home advisor or the Home Depot connection portal. I have never once experienced what I experienced with WireOne. I scheduled an appointment for a bathroom fan repair. During that phone call I made it extremely clear the fan was a part of a solar tube. At this time, I agreed to the trip charge of $69. When the technician arrived I showed him the fan that was not working, the electrical panel, and the attic/crawl space entrance. After standing around for a few minutes the technician told me that his FIRST quote would be $430 including the $69 trip charge. This $430 is ONLY for a diagnostic test. This is not for any sort of repair or fix. He stated that the fix would either be a level 1 or level 2 repair. I asked for prices of both levels to see if I wanted to continue. Supposedly, WireOne does not give full quotes for actual repair. The prices come once the diagnosis is complete. This is absolutely insane for the customer. Why would someone pay all $430 to know what the problem is then get a unknown repair charge after. I scheduled the appointment for a full quote. What I got was an incomplete quote and phone call from the office asking about my experience. I told the office that the quote was incomplete and the sales rep on the first phone call failed to mention that there are two quotes for such repair. The office reached out and so did Corporate. Basically, a "Corporate service manager" stated that the Madison office was in the wrong regarding the quote. However, in the end nothing was resolved and no refund was given. I would never recommend this company in 100 years. I found another company to do the repair and the entire process cost me half of what WireOne quoted me just for the diagnosis. Go local, and completely skip this company. They will waste your valuable time and your hard earned money. read more
