Rough road going in, air down! Big parking lot at the trailhead. We already got our permits, so listed the number on the form on our windshield. Hot spell in October, and we started close to noon. We had water, but I worried it may not be enough. The hike in was right at 1.5 miles. Then the excitement and cooler slots began! What a wonderful experience this was! Lots of mud if you went The Buckskin direction, and then very rocky if you went the other direction at the crossroads. We went a short distance both ways, then hung out in the "amphitheater" area where it was like a wind tunnel for a bit to cool down. Fabulous experience!

Awesome trail and easy to navigate the path with clear signs! The park was super clean and not overpowering. It is a little difficult to get to the park bu my it was a Great day getting some sun and hiking time in. The slot canyons were incredibly beautiful and just jaw dropping on how incredible they are while walking through them. We brought our pup and she had an absolute blast, so this trail is easy for pups and not hard on their bodies. We were able to get through most of the slot canyons, but Unfortunately the last two were blocked by sitting water.definitely recommend checking this place out and you are in the area, it is totally worth the drive. The only downside is the 9mile drive just before you park only because that whole 9 miles is unpacked road

Wire Pass to Buck Skin Gulch

This is an excellent hike through the beautiful wash on Wire Pass into Buckskin Gulch in Paria Canyon-Vermilion Cliffs, managed by BLM. You can hike along Buckskin gulche, either up or downriver, up to 20 miles. Finding the trailhead: Follow U.S. 89 to an unsigned southbound dirt road that branches off the highway at the west end of a 50 mph right-angle curve just west of The Cockscomb. Find the turnoff 0.8 mile west of milepost 25 and 34 miles northwest of Page, Arizona, or 0.2 mile south of milepost 26 and 37.5 miles east of Kanab, Utah. This dirt road (known as House Rock Valley Road) is passable to cars in dry weather, barring severe runoff damage, and steadily ascends for 2.5 miles to a saddle separating The Cockscomb and Buckskin Mountain. Ignore the right fork to Fivemile Mountain at the saddle, then descend to a crossing of the Buckskin Gulch wash after 4.4 miles, where the road is subject to flood damage. The signed turnoff to Buckskin Gulch Trailhead (located 0.2 mile east of the road), which you avoid, is located a short distance south of the wash. Wire Pass Trailhead is tricky as there are several trailheads that provide access to Buckskin Gulch. Wire Pass Trailhead offers the most direct access for a day hike, just about two miles to Buckskin Gulch. Don't take the Buckskin Trailhead, which follows a wash for at least 6 miles before intersecting with Wire Pass Trail and then the confluence with the Paria River. My hike is in early March. It's pleasant but it can get very cold and windy. Gloves, hat, and light wind jacket are recommended. The hike can be easy to moderate difficulty, depending on how far you want to hike in along the Gulch! Having a good pair of hiking boots and bringing enough drinking water and snacks would help for sure. Reservations for permits for overnight use required; Day-use permits can be purchased in advance at recreation.gov or digitally at the trailhead. There is a little signal at the trailhead, depending on your service carrier. Children age twelve and under are free! $6 dollars per dog. Highly recommended for everyone, young to old! This place is magical and magnificent. It's remarkable that we are allowed to walk through this special place. Super wild. Super EPIC! Super happy. Please make sure to keep this place clean and beautiful as you find it. Happy hike!

Before even hiring Yermo he talked to me for a long time regarding all the things I would need to make this trip successful. We were originally going to start at Wire Pass to incorporate the Buckskin Gulch, but once we got there he informed us it was quite flooded in areas and would be too difficult to get through so we started at Whitehouse trailhead instead. My friend had gotten a new Iphone 17 and we were able to communicate with Yermo a few times during the hike. You don't see many people along the way and it was comforting knowing we had someone who would keep us informed. We had an amazing and safe trip!!! If safety is your top priority which it was for myself and my friend, Yermo is the person you want to hire!! He also gave us hiking tips for this trip such as Randy Sun socks (a must have) and rubber tips for your hiking poles!!

Our experience was exceptional, start to finish. We originally booked White Pocket, but owner Yermo was helpful in accommodating an itinerary change when we also secured a permit for South Coyote Buttes, weeks later. When we arrived in Page, there was good follow-through in messaging us about our meeting point, timing, and contact details, and all rolled absolutely seamlessly on the tour. Our guide, Brand, made the entire day shine -- he's exceedingly knowledgeable, prepared, friendly, and astute, taking the client's skill level and wishes into full account. He and others at Seeking Treasure also serve as the backups to the local search-and-rescue crew, so you could not ask for a more equipped and experienced team. Brand showed us everything from the most popular vantages to those that were more obscure but even more exciting and beautiful in perspective. He is also a highly capable driver in the route's deep sands, and the vehicle was comfortable and sturdy. Having a private guide is always an immensely preferable option, and Seeking Treasure Adventures ensures a personalized tour that will help you find the treasure you seek -- simply outstanding!

We were practically right under most of the explosions in the sky, with ambers literally falling on top of us / the spectators! Perhaps because if the dry air. At the very end of the show, our fears were realized as one last firework exploded on the ground, and some cardboard shrapnels flew into the spectators, hitting some of them. Some advice: 1. bring more alcohol-it was hot in August, probably 100, we are not big drinkers but 3-4 cold beers a day would sure have been nice, we ran out on day 6 2. wear light colored clothes if the weather is going to be warm 3. bring a walking stick, very helpful on the hikes scrambling over boulders and rocks 4. bring more alcohol 5. a waterproof day pack to have some gear readily accessible on the raft would have been nice 6. Have a set of river shoes, and a set of hiking shoes for shore excursions. My river shoes were great on wet rocks in the river, but tenuous at best when hiking 7. bring more alcohol 8. I balked at the sarong idea and regretted it, sarong would have been great to keep cool on the raft and to provide additional sun protection 9. Gel or spray on deodorant would have been nice, I brought body wash but it did not really cut it. 10. Consider going in May-mid July time frame when river is running clear. Once monsoon season starts in Arizona the river runs silty. Still a great trip. Brett was phenomenal. He made every one of us feel completely safe and confident through all the rappels (5 or 7, depending on who's counting -- we lost track because we were having too much fun). He struck that perfect balance of professional guide and enthusiastic local -- he clearly loves this place and knows it deeply, from the geology of the rocks to the broader mountaineering history of the area. That kind of knowledge just adds another layer to the whole experience. We drove over from our lodge to Easton Zion, and I'll be honest -- I wondered briefly if it was worth the extra time.
