Went here as part of a Groupon deal, and review...we did not come away disappointed....!! The landlord and his charming wife were extremely warm, welcoming and wedded for 10 years...on FEb 14........!!
My wife went for the lamb shank that was done to perfection, as was the veg. I took a taster in South African cuisine and had the Boubootie...a soft mince dish covered with egg and spice/herbs...accompanied with turmeric rice. Reet Lovely....lovely surprise of the herbs coming through. Brandy Cake and Crumble of the Day for dessert which was a real struggle to finish. The pub itself has been around since circa 1650 ?, and has Ben kept as a traditional pub....lovely log fire, chestnuts can be roasted in a pan, great selection of ales......and the nice thing is they sell Biltong, (for those that like it)!
Well worth a visit...you will not be disappointed....! There is plenty of parking space, peace and quiet, music on the last Saturday of the month
Enjoy...if you can eat it all...... read more
