Kathleen has lived off the grid for many, many years. She clearly loves her dogs and they love her. Took the day trip with my cousin and there was never a dull moment. Covid is taken very seriously and every precaution is taken for the safety of the guests and the hosts. Guests have the opportunity to not only take a memorable sled ride but also help with feeding and preparing the dogs for the run. They live to run and are clearly some of the healthiest and happiest dogs I have ever encountered. If you are thinking about a new adventure, do this! You will not be sorry. Located just 50 miles north of Duluth, with over 400 acres of land, you feel like you are so far away from everything. Kathleen takes you kayaking on the most pristine lakes surrounded only by trees and wildlife. For dogsledding trips, we spent so much time with the dogs and helping with chores just to be close to them. The huskies truly love people and are born to pull. By the end of the trip you have the opportunity to drive the sled (which of course I loved the most!!) The lodging is a bunkhouse with beds to accommodate 8-10 people. There is a outhouse for the toilet, which definitely scared me but Kathleen makes it just as pretty and comfortable as any hotel I have been to. I first came here in 2007 for a kayak trip. Then I HAD to come back for dog sledding. AMAZING! It is clear that the owner has a passion for the outdoors, conservation and providing a learning environment w/o judgment. Now this is a women's only outfitter- its great for ladies who want to get immersed in nature for the first time or are hardcore outdoor enthusiasts!! The dogs are amazing and lovingly care for. The trips are incredibly affordable compared to other outfitters in the area. Just show up! Great, wholesome food, company; beautiful cabins, sauna and gardens. An absolute must for any female outdoor enthusiast or who just want to get away from the hustle and bustle! On 400 acres in the superior national forest- all you find is peace!!!! This place is so warm and inviting. they offer both kayaking and dog sledding. I have only done kayaking thus far. The atmospere of the place is so magical; one must see to believe! The cooking is healthy, flavorful and fantastic! There are abundant gardens. Even though you are on vacation, the hospitatlity is so great you feel like you are visting your favorite relative. ALways hate to leave. It is much more affordable compared to the other outfitters in the area. Must do the true Finnish sauna! Fabulous!
