Some specifics as compared with other places we've stayed: Pro: - Location mid-mountain in Silver Lake is probably best option for accessing a wide amount of terrain in DV - Large family room and bonus den meant plenty of space to spread out - Hot tubs on the deck running and ready for apres ski - Ski valet at Deer Valley means you can leave your skis mountainside (for free) - Daily trash and towel service (not sure if this is through Resorts West or standard) Con: - While Silver Lake area is great for skiing, it's quite dead in evenings and requires 10+ min drive to eat/drink anywhere else - Black Bear location billed as slope-side -- but it's really a 3+ block walk to closest lift (very doable, but those yelpers saying 3 minutes must have been flying) - Dated decor and appliances (e.g., tube TV from 90s in main room, tired wood blinds) - Stunningly expensive vs other resorts, but this is a DV issue, not Black Bear specific - No ski locker or place to store your stuff -- literally have to lay it down in hallway

We enjoyed being able to walk into town to get some exercise or hop over to St. Regis for early drinks or dinner. And when we needed a ride somewhere we used Deer Valley car service, which is free! The spacious living room helped us to spread out, as snowboarding requires a lot of equipment and gear to be used. There is also a fireplace to help warm any wet socks, gloves or shoes. Pros: -Cost (great price) -Location (about a 10min walk away from the closest ski lift) -Spacious bedroom and living room -Kitchen -Fireplace Cons (slight): -The bathrooms are not the most updated ones you'll use, but they get the job done. -When using the kitchen, the steak knives weren't straight - they had curved edges which simply needs replacing. -There is a faint musty carpet smell that you'll encounter as soon as you walk in. If these cons are as minor to you as they were to me, then the other benefits of the place (listed above) really outweigh the slight cons in my opinion. Also breakfast is provided but for a fee. If you plan to gather groceries beforehand then this is also a minor setback. The lobby looks recently renovated which is great to walk into. They give you a parking pass which grants you a parking spot right outside. There is also a downstairs entrance door for quicker access to the rooms. All in all, this is a stay where you'll get a great bang for your buck. I've recommended this place to others and will likely stay here again when we come back.

This is considered "deeded interest" real estate. It's similar to joining a country club for golf. It is not a time share. I own a 4-bedroom & 2-bedroom unit. We have ski in/out access right at Silver Lake Village. There are approximately 190 owners that share 32 units (2, 3 & 4 Bedroom). Included in our quarterly dues are airport transportation as well as transportation in/around town during our stay. We have a support staff that operates the property like a hotel - daily room service as well as storage areas for all of our gear. There is no limit to how much time we can spend at the club. All members submit reservation requests a few months in advance. Once those requests are filled, we book additional time via a "space available" calendar. My family enjoys the club in both Winter & Summer seasons. One of the biggest benefits of the club is the tenure of the staff. The manager (Jeff) and assistant manager (John) have been at the club as long as I have. If you're planning a trip to Deer Valley, the club has an ongoing open house. You can access the club from via Silver Link ski run. Look to the right before you enter the Silver Lake area.

Worst hotel experience ever -- ruined our Christmas break…read more We stayed at Park Regency Resort Park City during Christmas, and the experience was unacceptable due to poor management and a complete lack of accountability. To be fair, the front desk staff, maintenance team, and shuttle drivers were polite and helpful. Unfortunately, the manager's response completely overshadowed everything else. 1) Water leak on Christmas Day (Dec 25) On Dec 25 (Christmas Day), we returned after lunch and noticed water on the bathroom tile floor, along with a visible wet patch on the ceiling. The wet floor was slippery and unsafe. Maintenance came, but the resort could not fix the issue and could not offer a room change that night, so we were forced to spend Christmas Day in an affected room. We were moved the next day. 2) Manager refused compensation and blamed the booking platform When we asked for a discount for that first night, we were told only the manager could approve it. When we spoke to the manager on Dec 27, she refused any compensation and told us to "go ask the booking platform." This was extremely unprofessional and felt like she was simply trying to pass the responsibility to Booking.com instead of resolving an issue that happened on their own property. 3) Major security incident -- our room door was left unlocked On Dec 28, we double-checked that the door was locked before leaving to ski. When we returned at night, we found the door unlocked. As two young women traveling alone, this was terrifying. We reported this immediately to the front desk. They said there were no cameras, and although they mentioned someone would check the lock, nothing was done. 4) No investigation, no explanation, no apology On Dec 29, the manager still did not investigate, contact housekeeping, or provide any explanation or apology. She promised to reply to our email to the booking platform as confirmation, but she never did. 5) A $50 gift card is not a resolution After paying over $1,300 for 5 nights, the manager offered only a $50 gift card at checkout. This is not acceptable given the leak, safety risk, and lack of response. This place needs serious improvement in management, guest safety, and customer service. I would not recommend staying here.

We later figured out they were closed because they had no screens. In one of the bedrooms the window was broken and couldn't be opened at all, this room was totally unusable due to the heat. We booked this property as we had two families and each room was allocated. We ended up having to use the couches in the living room as a bedroom. Despite the thermostat being turned all the way down the radiators were still on. Not ideal in 90+ degree days. WiFi never worked, Comcast remote was missing. We did have consistent communication with the property manager throughout the first half of the trip. We rebooted the router multiple times, but still no luck. They had whomever they use on-site to try to fix it, but still no luck. We were told that someone would bring a Comcast remote mid-day Monday. It didn't show up, and it didn't matter as we had no TV function anyway. The location was great, though. That is the ONLY redeeming factor of this property.

First a quick overview - The Snowbird Inn is technically a condominium building where owners sublet…read moretheir units, but you can snag any type of room, ranging from a typical-looking "hotel room" all the way to a three-bedroom apartment. Walking the halls during the morning housekeeping sweep, we scoped out a variety of setups and interior modifications (different wall paint, furniture, stainless appliances, granite counters etc.) The Inn is the only property within the Snowbird resort area with no restaurant or bar, and with a lack of a "town" otherwise, your only food options will have you leaving the building. They have a year-round outdoor pool and hot tub, steam room, sauna, changing facilities, and a ski locker room. -- Comparing to Alta, with its rustic, cozy mountain feel there, I was a bit nervous checking into the Snowbird Inn - one of four hotel/resorts that comprise the Snowbird Resort property. Despite the upscale feel around the property however, Snowbird staff in general are super friendly and accommodating, and the Snowbird Inn was no exception! We arrived at the Inn early Monday morning, dropped our bags off, changed into our ski gear, and went off to Alta for the day (about a five-minute drive up the road). Although not the norm, they offered us a ride over to Alta in their resort Suburban, dropping us off at the historic Goldminer's Daughter Lodge where we started our ski day. After skiing and taking the free UTA bus back to Snowbird, we checked in Monday night with Barbara, who was as kind as could be. Barbara whipped out a resort map and showed us the lay of the land, consisting of the "Ski Center" and four different hotels/resorts, all within walking distance. Each hotel offers a restaurant or bar (or in the case of the Cliff Lodge, several) with different-themed cuisines at each. She made food recommendations and happily pointed out the après ski spots, based on the "scene" we were looking for. Come evening, she summoned the shuttle to give us a ride over to the Cliff Lodge, where we grabbed dinner and drinks. The next morning, she was behind the desk (she promised us she got some rest!) greeting both of us by name before offering us a copy of the New York Times. As mentioned before, the Inn has a year-round outdoor pool and hot tub, which we immediately hit after our first day out! The hot tub is big enough to hold 6-8 comfortably and the pool is perfect for when you're too hot (yes, that can happen even in the dead of winter!) or want to swim some laps to loosen up. After checking out of the Inn Tuesday morning, staff were happy to hang onto our bags and offer up their showers and changing facilities so we could ski Snowbird, then freshen up before heading back to Salt Lake City that evening. Most hotels are happy to accommodate their guests like this, but the Snowbird Inn is one of those friendly places where you don't feel funny asking. Overall, we had a phenomenal visit to the Little Cottonwood Canyon area, and we're glad we stayed on the Snowbird property - I'll definitely be back!
