I have not been to this Dentist office yet but have an appointment. When I called their office today, the phone was answered by a person, which is unusual, unfortunately, these days! I don't remember her name, but she was very pleasant and helpful! I have read these numerous really bad reviews and is concerning to me. I also know that it is easier to leave a bad review than a good one. I would love to hear from other patients that have had a good experience here. Cynthea Krieger read more

I am a current patient of Winter Haven Modern Dentistry and am writing to express my concerns regarding a recent experience I had while attempting to schedule care for my 89-year-old father, who is relocating from Texas to Florida and is covered under a Delta Dental PPO plan. On August 31, 2026, at approximately 12:45 p.m., I received a message from your office stating that my father's insurance had been canceled. After reviewing his policy information, I confirmed that the policy was active and scheduled to become effective on September 1, 2026. At approximately 2:10 p.m., I called the office and spoke with Aria. During the call, I had difficulty hearing and understanding her due to the low volume and tone of her voice. I explained the situation regarding my father's insurance coverage, but no solutions or guidance were offered. Instead, I was informed that my father was not a patient and did not have an appointment scheduled. I advised that this information appeared to be incorrect and suggested that there might be an error in the information on file. After re-entering my father's information, Aria advised that there was no insurance coverage listed. I explained that I was reviewing the policy information directly and could see that coverage was active with an effective date of September 1, 2026. Aria instructed me to contact Delta Dental. I asked whether the office could verify the information directly, as it seemed likely that Delta Dental would simply confirm that the policy was active but not yet effective. I expressed concern that this would result in unnecessary back-and-forth communication. I was informed that there was nothing further the office could do, so I contacted Delta Dental myself. Delta Dental confirmed that my father's plan was active and that the coverage effective date was September 1, 2026. They advised that the office should be able to verify the insurance successfully beginning the following day. At approximately 2:21 p.m., I called the office back and again reached Aria. I politely requested to speak with a manager. I was informed that there was no one else available to speak with and was placed on hold. After approximately five minutes, another employee answered the call. When I again requested to speak with a manager, I was asked to explain the reason for my request. I stated that I wished to discuss an insurance-related concern. The employee indicated that she could assist with the issue, but I respectfully reiterated that I preferred to speak directly with a manager. My name and phone number were then taken for a return call. At approximately 3:20 p.m., Manager Soleil called and left a voicemail requesting that I return her call. I returned the call at approximately 4:31 p.m. During our conversation, I explained the concerns outlined above, specifically regarding the lack of assistance provided and the overall customer service experience. After listening to my concerns, Soleil informed me that both Aria and the other employee reported that I had used vulgar or inappropriate language during my conversations with them. I advised Soleil that this allegation was completely untrue. There were individuals present during my calls who can verify that no profanity or vulgar language was used at any point. Despite my explanation, the conversation shifted toward a discussion of treating staff respectfully, which left me feeling that my concerns were not being addressed and that I was being unfairly characterized. My concerns can be summarized as follows: Customer Service and Professionalism Front desk staff and phone representatives are often the first point of contact for patients and therefore represent the image of the practice. Clear communication, professionalism, and a willingness to assist in resolving issues are essential. In this case, I felt that I received very little assistance and had to suggest possible solutions myself. Access to Management When a patient requests to speak with a manager, that request should be respected. While collecting basic contact information is reasonable, patients should not feel pressured to disclose details they may prefer to discuss directly with management. False Allegations I was disappointed to be informed that staff reported I had used vulgar language when that did not occur. As a patient, I do not appreciate being indirectly accused of behavior that is inaccurate and unsupported by the facts. I believe this situation could have been handled much more effectively through proactive communication, problem-solving, and a greater focus on customer service. My intent in writing is not simply to complain but to provide feedback regarding an experience that fell well below the level of service I would expect from a healthcare provider. As a long-time patient, this experience has caused me to seriously reconsider whether I should continue receiving care through your practice. I hope this feedback will be reviewed and used as an opportunity read more

I had my teeth removed by their surgeon because after a long seach he was covered by my insurance. The surgeon runs an assembly line 3 sergeries in a row 45 min each. I woke up with serious burses on my face and neck. My tempory dentures have never come close to fitting. The images had to be taken 3 times and I dont thing the girl knew whart she was doing. I expressed my concerns from the start. I was told it was a process that would take up to 6 months. The process hasnt improved yet and Im tryiing to get a refund for my insurance to allow me to go somewhere else. The Doctor is condesending and has her assistance do most of the work and communications. read more

I rarely write reviews, but this experience deserves to be shared. My wife went to Winter Haven Modern Dentistry on September 30, 2025 for a tooth pain evaluation. She clearly informed the staff that she had undergone radiation treatment on her jaw 18 years ago. The office recommended an extraction and scheduled their oral surgeon for October 24, 2025. After waiting a full month, driving 45 minutes each way, and taking time off work, we arrived only to have the oral surgeon behave rudely and dismissively. He clearly had not read her medical history, refused to perform the procedure, and simply walked out without apology, empathy, or explanation. We then asked for a refund of the $200 down payment and the $3,073 financing plan that had been set up on September 24, 2025. The office agreed -- but weeks later, the loan was never canceled, the refund was never processed, and the office stopped responding. Now the finance company is asking us to pay for a service that was never provided, and our credit score is at risk because of the clinic's inaction. This has been one of the worst, most unprofessional dental experiences we've ever had. No compassion, no accountability, and no follow-through. I strongly urge anyone considering this office to be very cautious, verify all financial transactions, and ensure clear communication in writing before agreeing to any treatment plan. read more

This dental business is a racket, They held me hostage for extraction dental work unless I agreed to $10,000 worth of implants for two teeth. Those two teeth needed extraction and they were not going to do it and unless, I agreed to expensive implants. The problem, I'm 83 years old live on Social Security. There's no way I could pay $10,000. Then on December 20 with searing pain up into my nasal cavity from the tooth on the left and the molar on the right broke off eating breakfast. That was lucky. I had to seek urgent care on Saturday, the urgent care was at Aspen Dental. They took very good care of me, started me on antibiotics and on Monday I had the two bad teeth pulled. I have recovered. I am extremely grateful to Aspen Dental because the pain is gone and the broken off tooth now is extracted without a problem and I'm still on antibiotics, feeling pretty good. I had been to modern dentistry twice for the same two teeth, it's not the only problem I have had with this racket business, they constantly pushed unnecessary procedures. Usually I paid upfront and they still billed insurance. ITS A RACKET. read more

Hard to believe they are in business. I had an appointment on a Friday morning. In the week leading up to the appointment, I had three text messages and two email messages confirming the appointment. The most recent included a text message and an email message the day prior to the appointment with confirmation. Note that I have documentation of these. I also called three days prior to the appointment to confirm the appointment, speaking with office staff for verbal confirmation. I arrived on Friday morning for my appointment and walked in ten minutes prior to the appointment time. I was informed that the office was closed to patients for the day. The office staff then explained that they had called me at least three times to cancel the appointment. I showed them my phone and call log, which clearly showed my phone call confirming the appointment to their office phone number, while also showing no missed or received calls from the office. I also showed them the email confirmations and text message confirmations, with a response of shrugged shoulders. I would like to say this is unbelievable, but I have the documentation to dispel any disbelief. read more

All I wanted was x-rays and a cleaning. 4 1/2 hours later and 1800.00 dollars. I would not recommend them at all. Total ripoff!!!

Walking into Winter Haven Modern Dentistry I was impressed by all the new fancy equipment and furnishings. After I got my X-rays I was taken back to what I thought to be my teeth cleaning. Instead Dr. Hernandez decides to measure my gum pockets and says I have stage 2 periodontal disease and that I will need a series of deep cleanings to fix the damage. Mind you I only came to this dentist because it was covered by my insurance, but they brought me back a quote for my first "deep cleaning" for over $900 not covered by insurance! I decided to get a second opinion at my family dentist that is no longer covered by my insurance who states that I in fact DO NOT have periodontal disease! Also I have called 4 times to get my X-rays from them to take to an actual honest dentist and they have yet to send them to me. DO NOT come here if you don't enjoy being scammed. read more

Gave my ID and insurance card to lady at front desk. Dentist came out asking for Ms. Fields. No answer. Then asked for Vicki. I answered. I asked who Ms. Fields was, and they said you. No, my name is Vicki Jaehnert. Then I was asked how I liked living in Nevada. I replied, never lived there. It took three people to get my name and address correct. Now, time for X-rays, I kept inquiring whether or not I was covered with my insurance. I was informed that they were looking into it as they were taking X-rays. I went there To have my broken tooth extracted. Instead, I agreed to saving my tooth and getting a root canal. My cost was over $1900.00. X-rays were waved. I went to this dental office because they have same day crowns. I was just informed that I have to wait another two weeks for my crown. Ashley who answers the phone, talked over me, put me on hold for ten minutes, and my call was disconnected. I would not recommend this dentist office ever. I was told, they will call when my crown is ready. Not holding my breath. I should have looked them up on yelp first. read more

Beware of the bait and switch. Beware of wildly changing estimates for work. I had a tooth pulled which included a bone graft to prepare the site for the post/anchor for the new tooth. Came back a few months later for the post/anchor, which had been priced at $1555, but when I got there the orthodontist said I would need additional $2100 of bone grafting and other work -- for a total of $3655 for the work. When I complained that I was never warned about this and it seemed that I was paying for the bone graft to be redone -- oh well too bad, that administrator should have warned you but she no longer works here, and the dentist who did the incomplete bone graft is also no longer here, either. Needless to say, I will not be going back to Winter Haven Modern Dentistry. read more

This is not a dentist office. This is a used tooth salesman. They will do everything in their power to sell you what you don't need I wanted a simple teeth, clean procedure and I was scared into thinking that I had a cavity that was all the way down to the nerve. Mary was the dentist which I now know she owns is known for these scare tactics to drive sales whatever you do, please do not go to this dental office. read more

It's honestly my fault for continuing to come here. I have an appointment, I'm here on time, but they doubled booked my slot so I have to wait 45mins. This is one of many problems I've had with them. Horrible service! read more

Providing basic affordable dentistry should be their mission and not focus on grabbing $1500-$2500 per visit. I am a real former patient with multiple bad experiences and could not achieve a simple basic cleaning and instead an attempt to sell me services that I did not want. My previous review was removed because there was a suspicion that I was not an actual patient. The reality is that I was a patient and dissatisfied with this practice. Rather than attempt to quell an opinion the practice should focus on providing affordable care and good customer service. read more

This is the worst place to receive any sort of dental help whatsoever. I went in with extreme pain in my teeth and gums, with a huge blister building up on the roof of my mouth/gum area, clearly infected. This horrible woman Mary Mabry is basically a cheap car salesman of a dentist. Zero care, Zero effort, wanted to force me into extracting 4 teeth and that was, and I quote "HER ONLY WAY OF GIVING ME RELEIF" I was in horrible pain, couldn't afford what options they were giving me and just wanted to have some sort of temp relief at the very least, but NOPE, this b**ch only was concerned about doing an immediate procedure, the easiest method (pulling teeth) and had no remorse or empathy at my situation. The other staff seemed nice and considerate, so I can't speak on the other dentists, but that MARY broad needs to be fired and have her license removed. She clearly hates people and has only money in interest. AVOID HER AT ALL COSTS!!!! read more

I really love Winter Haven Modern Dentistry, Thomas, Jesse & Dr. Mabry. I struggled for a long time finding a dentist office that I felt comfortable in. They have helped me overcome dental anxiety. They listen. I have been a patient for roughly two years. I am unsure why people feel the deep cleanings are a scam. I pay for them, yes but I see ALL of the gunk that was under my gums! I feel better afterwords. It is something that I prioritize because I understand the importance of not allowing that to sit around my teeth. It is also something I have physically noticed a difference in with time. My gums are less swollen and do not bleed. They do not make me feel helpless, this is the first office that has done this. I had a lot of work done over a long period of time. Dr. Mabry always prioritizes keeping as much of my natural teeth as possible. Dr. Mabry is the only pain free dentist I've been to in my life. She always numbs correctly for me. First try. (A lot of dentists tend to under numb or numb the wrong spot for me.) I do not know much about Dentistry but the tools do not seem barbaric... they seem modern and you can tell that they are very up to date with current practices and procedures. Dr. Mabry and her team are very precise when it comes to work. Also, this is odd for a review but this is the only dental office that has not complained about my small mouth. They just lower the chair down. I feel so much better at this practice. I am so thankful for them! Really has been life changing for me and I am thankful to be on the right track in regards to prioritizing my health thanks to Winter Haven Modern Dentistry. read more

Avoid this office and staff! I've never had such a troubling experience from any medical professional as I just did today and Friday (5.24.2024) with Mary Mabry, DDS. I went to their office based upon a review of an endo with my insurance carrier of "Christopher M. Schiller - 565 Cypress Gardens Blvd. 33880 - 863-656-4777. Rating: 4.9." But I never saw Schiller. I was introduced to Mabry instead. Had I known I was seeing Mabry, there are several complaints online that have similarities to my experience with her, and it seems that the glowing reviews one sees might be fake. IMHO, this place uses bait and switch tactics and the kind of manipulation tactics that someone might find in a pressure sales department. They even use terms like "handoff" in their office, which is like they use. IMHO, I was grossly overcharged, after stating in writing and verbally that I wanted an office that accepted my insurance for payment. I've had almost all my charges covered until Winter Haven Modern Dentistry, which suggests that they way overbill and are taking advantage of people in pain. I asked for a refund of the over-charge over the insurance payment, and Mabry called me. She said she wanted to understand, but as I tried to talk, she interrupted, threatened me with her attorneys, and handed me off to a team member. I was told by her staff member that Mabry owns that office. I'm wondering how many people have been scared off by Mabry's tactics and threats? Should there be a class action of past clients of this office? I have begun filing complaints with state and dental association offices, but plan to file more. Should I need an attorney, I plan to find a contingency attorney and let her discover what it feels like to be on the receiving end of her kind of slippery and arguably abusive tactics. read more

Thomas at the front desk and the hygienist that did my cleaning were great. This was my first time to this dentist, so of course the xrays and all that. Afterward, when you first get in the seat you have approximately three different people tell you about periodontal disease and have you look at this chart. The third person is the one that will poke around. I have had this done many times but this one was different, took a lot more time and the person kept changing their numbers. Then the doc will tell you have this and speed through how you need it, it will cost several hundred after insurance but help you in the long run. It felt very scammy to me personally. After I denied all the extra and wanted a simple cleaning the doc made sure to tell each person that came in there that I wasn't getting the "deep cleaning" one lady had me sign a paper that said I am denying this treatment that I need blah blah blah. They left me in there to read it for about 15 minutes. The doc also mentioned they turn this into the insurance company and it could affect future costs. Then the dental hygienist come in and she mentions like I said he gets the "perf" cleaning he denied the deep one so only get above the gums. Ive had many cleanings from many different places and people. I have never had one soooo basic after that. Took about 10 minutes it felt like might have been 15 but I feel like that's a stretch. Very Scammy feeling. I will not be returning. Modern Dentistry of Winter Haven, you may call me if you would like. read more
