Great Summer vibes and the selection of meats and quality is amazing. I wish I could shop here regularly versus the usual grocery stores. We had an amazing pork sandwich, a pastrami, and a salad. The first salad was a little bitter, so the Server promptly swapped for a kale side salad which was nice. The breads and meats were standouts for these decadent sandwiches. The flavor and juices were soaked up by the tender meats. My favorite was definitely the pork. Always great eating here.

For example with my mussels, rather than this large chunk of baguette, I wouldn't preferred it pre-sliced. We went on a busy Saturday night and it was popping in here for sure. However because it was so busy, my table ended up being neglected and our waitress was impossible to flag down. In terms of vibes, it seems like a pretty cool place to be. I liked the chairs and then the little booths seem like a fun time. I was also a big fan of the bathroom sink. Overall, Publican was a fine time, and even better time if you're looking for meat forward dishes.

A cobblestone walkway with a rustic feel to it. It's also a Ramen & coffee spot on the premises. But we were there for the BBQ! We got there right around opening time so the line hadn't formed yet. The gentleman that cut our meats was very inviting and so nice! He definitely gets a 10/10 for service! We ordered just about everything except the pulled pork. We ordered 1/2 lb. of Brisket, 1/2 lb. of Pastrami, 1/2 lb. of the Pork Ribs, 1/2 lb. of Smoked Turkey, A Cheddar Jalapeno Hot Link, 1 1/2 Beef Rib, Chicago Twinke, Coke Zero and I went back and got 1/2 lb. Pork Belly! They give you complementary bread & pickled onions. I spent a total of $243.08 tip included. (I always tip good for good food and service). Tipping is optional though. I'm going to start with the Pastrami. It was tender, very, very well seasoned, Smokey, rich and absolutely delicious!!! 10/10! The sliced Brisket was also very, very well seasoned, tender & Smokey! Another 10/10!! The pork Ribs were once again seasoned well, not fall of the bone tender but they were tender how a rib should be! Nice glaze of sauce on them I'd say a 9.6/10. The smoked turkey is the best I've ever had ANYWHERE!! Moist, tender, seasoned and Smokey! 10/10! The pork belly was lean, fatty, rich, seasoned, tender just sinfully delicious!! 10/10. The cheddar Jalapeño hot link was juicy, smoked, had a nice snap, very flavorful and not too spicy. Just enough heat nothing overpowering. And it was a nice size sausage (pause). 9.7/10. The Chicago Twinkie is a Jalapeño stuff with cheese and wrapped in bacon! Smoked to perfection! Also deliciously sinful! 10/10!! The beef rib was so tender, nicely smoked, rich, well seasoned, it was fatty and lean. My gosh! So freaking good!! 10/10. We didn't order any sides we were there strictly for the smoked meat and this place did not disappoint! I can't wait until my next visit there! Next time I'll try a beer to go with it to help cut through the richness of the meat. If you haven't already been here, treat yourself to some delicious BBQ! All in all They get a solid 9.9/10!! When I visited, the line was extremely long, but it moved surprisingly quickly. The restaurant has a cafeteria-style setup where you order at the counter and receive your food there. Unfortunately, the food didn't live up to the expectations I had going in. I spent around $80 on turkey, brisket, sausage, potatoes, beans, and hot sauce, which felt expensive for what I received. The turkey was dry, while the brisket was decent and had a nice peppery flavor. The sausage was bland, and the sides were just okay. Overall, I didn't have a bad experience, but I also didn't feel the food justified the price or the hype. There are plenty of other places I'd choose before coming back here.

I can probably spend a month there and never experience the same one. I would definitely go back again for the same sandwich. I did try pastrami for the first time and it tasted very good as well. For the most part, this is a stand order and go type restaurant. I would definitely do it again.

Growing up, I like to say I experienced it all, waking up early to help my family earn money, laundry and cleaning the house on Sundays, visiting the pulgas and segundas whenever. Living in areas "less fortunate" but still appreciating and making the most out of everything given to you. Over time I felt like I sort of lost that connection, I still had the same ambition of hustling (working job) waking up early, etc but always felt like something wasn't there anymore. I do most of my food searches on Yelp but anything more specific Beli is my app. Beli actually recommended this restaurant as I was looking for a restaurant. I mainly chose it for my dad as much as he says he doesn't mind eating at other spots it just felt right picking something he'd feel familiar with (Mexican food) Wait time is okay, if you're from Houston wait times are typically already 20-40mins anywhere, not an issue waiting. Outside environment, felt like living off airline but more extreme, you can see, feel, and even breathe the culture. Guys were walking about waving Mexican flags, smelling Barbacoa/carnitas tacos down the street, and the obvious loud Spanish music going around. A community gathered together with signs of no ICE allowed too. The inside ambience is crazy, fast paced, everyone working together and communicating like it's just regular day. I'll cut it short since I try not to write long reviews, the arranchera was fire, both salsas-- fire, shrimp tacos, fire, horchata, fire. Everything was great along with service and seeing all the customers bringing their own drinks celebrating for whatever reason. It really made me appreciate everything that's lead up to this moment.
