When I arrived 2 hours later to get him he wasn't ready because "he's not used to being groomed". This small dog has been groomed every 3 weeks since he was born. They said that he was anxious the whole time and 'come pick him up' because he wasn't cooperating. They emphasized that he tried to bite her multiple times. As I emphasized earlier, he is a sweetheart, loves people and other dogs whether they are a small teacup like he is or if its a big Saint Bernard. They told me that it was because he saw me leaving. ?@#$%! What? OF COURSE HE DID! He was shaking when I picked him up with a half haircut. Yes, a choppy uneven haircut and he had a bloody cut on his paw when I picked him up. I'd try to bite someone if they mistreated me too. I do not recommend this place to anyone. Our dogs are our children and don't need to be abused by such unloving, uncaring people. They should not be groomers. I don't recommend the store either. Its dirty. I bought a bunch of squeaky toys there and 3 of them didn't squeak! STAY AWAY. They won't be there much longer!

I'm a self-proclaimed pet store junkie (and with a few dozen pets ranging from rats and reptiles to…read moredogs and parrots, I visit pet stores often.) I don't like bad pet stores, and I'm pretty vocal about it, so after reading all the terrible reviews online about this place, I decided to stop in to see if a pet store as bad as the reviews made it sound really existed. Boy am I glad that I did! The place has the same smell that any pet store that houses reptiles has; it isn't an offensive smell, and it ain't because the place is dirty. Far from it - this place is immaculate. The animals are obviously very well cared for, and they're all very, very tame, from the rodents to the reptiles. They've got the tamest sugar gliders I've ever seen anywhere, ever, and that includes at breeders. The gliders here come running to the door of the cage to beg for treats! The owner of the store, Stacy, was super nice and super friendly. She didn't avoid me, follow me around the store, or stare at my tattoos like most pet store employees do, and I appreciate that. I went in looking for a companion for my rat, who just lost his cage mate. There weren't any male rats on the sales floor, and she was kind enough to let me go out back with her to pick out my own from the breeder bins. The babies are obviously handled, since they weren't terrified and most of them were pretty content to be held. The cages were all immaculate and reasonably spacious, particularly by pet store standards. Many of the displays are hand made, and are pretty. Prices are very reasonable, especially for a small, privately owned store. The selection isn't what you'd find in a larger store, but this place is on the smaller side, and is absolutely packed to the brim with some pretty cool stuff. I didn't notice any dog or cat stuff, but that doesn't mean it wasn't there - I was just too busy looking at the bird and small animal stuff! Stacy took the time to walk me around the store, talk about the animals there, ask me about my plethora of pets, talk about the personalities of some of the critters in the store, and really took the time to have a conversation with me, and never tried to sell me anything. It was, as far as I'm concerned, the perfect pet store experience. If you're in to reptiles, fish, and small critters, this place is where it's at. It's highly recommended!

From the boutique and high quality toys, homemade treats, and even outfits this store blows any of the "big box" pet stores out of the water. The selection of things range from the necessary to the completely ridiculously unnecessary which is hilarious and I loved seeing some of the items they carried. However, with this kind of high quality often comes a high price. While the prices are not outrageous they will be slightly higher than your average pet store and that fortunately for us isn't a consideration as our little girl is treated as most parents treat their children. You can expect about a 10-15% difference in price with a much higher quality than you'd typically experience (especially in the treats case). The owner was a pleasure to chat with and shared all of his stories of past and current dogs which was awesome to hear about. He also told us about the history of the shop and what drove them to open it. These are good people just trying to fill a niche that wasn't covered previously when they opened their doors, and all three of us will gladly walk through those doors again and again whenever we find ourselves in the Portsmouth area :) Thanks again for the great conversation and Ruby says the treats were delicious!
