I brought my 3 1/2 Pound chocolate sweet Yorkshire Terrier to get groomed at the Gilford, NH Petco. I dropped him off at 2:30 and they told me to pick him up 2 hours later. When I arrived 2 hours later to get him he wasn't ready because "he's not used to being groomed". This small dog has been groomed every 3 weeks since he was born. They said that he was anxious the whole time and 'come pick him up' because he wasn't cooperating. They emphasized that he tried to bite her multiple times. As I emphasized earlier, he is a sweetheart, loves people and other dogs whether they are a small teacup like he is or if its a big Saint Bernard. They told me that it was because he saw me leaving. ?@#$%! What? OF COURSE HE DID! He was shaking when I picked him up with a half haircut. Yes, a choppy uneven haircut and he had a bloody cut on his paw when I picked him up. I'd try to bite someone if they mistreated me too. I do not recommend this place to anyone. Our dogs are our children and don't need to be abused by such unloving, uncaring people. They should not be groomers. I don't recommend the store either. Its dirty. I bought a bunch of squeaky toys there and 3 of them didn't squeak! STAY AWAY. They won't be there much longer! read more

Excellent grooming services. We have been taking our large dogs (80-85 lbs) here for at least 10 years and will continue to do so. Crystal and her staff are excellent and our OES always come out looking beautiful and well cared for. Highly recommend! read more

I had a very positive experience with the groomer Micah today. She was pleasant and was kind and gentle with my senior Beau. I recommend her as a groomer. I would give her 5 stars But I know attention is paid to the squeaky wheel: The retail store is a different story. The staff all seemed like they hated their job. No polite pleasant interaction when making a purchase. Clutter and unshelved merchandise in corners in shopping carts. Very untidy unwelcoming retail operation. read more

I couldn't even give this less than a star Was here for VETCO CLINIC Today I Witnessed the most horrific case of the animal abuse towards my own pet at a Vetco Shot Clinic in Gilford NH .... two large women body slammed my 4 month old kitten to the table to give him shots. All because my cat moved and the missed with the needle .....my kitten howelin, scratching and biting them both .they threw my kitten back in the cage and walked away ...needless to say I will never be be back read more

Very disappointing. Wouldn't do one dog because of " hx of seizures" Made an appointment to get my Maltese " Beauty" in. I had to cancel a prior appointment a few weeks ago because of a work situation ( I gave them a few hours notice) so the groomer said, " this is your last time if you don't keep your appointment'. So I took her in 1/2 hour early. She told me to come back. I came back in and she said right off the bat, " I can't groom her because she has too many matt's".then she went and got a very flimsy comb and after about 5 min of minimal effort combing said " I can't take doing her " so she cancelled the appointment. I thought Matt's were one of the reasons to get a professional groomer. Won't brake her back or buy. Anymore Petco products. read more

I signed up for Group training class for my dog on February 23. Received the email with confirmation and member# and telling us what to bring to class. We did not hear anything more! When we came over for the first class scheduled for April 4th Easter Sunday, no one seemed to anything about a training class. We asked several employees. Finally the I got to speak with the manager. He stated that the trainer was home with family, we were the only ones for the class. I asked why she didn't reach out to us. He said he didn't know, he would speak with her. We signed up for a group class, we never heard from the trainer to let us know we were the only ones. Very disappointing, discouraging, poor customer service. read more

I have a year old Yorkie-Pom: Pixie. She is an active little girl and I wasn't sure how her first grooming would go. I also informed Crystal about an injury she had to her left leg - a fracture actually some months ago. I do not ever want her hurt again. Crystal paid attention to that and was also cognizant of the hyoid issue with small dogs. Well, Pixie loved her, and she was groomed VERY well. I want to do what my dog is comfortable with as well, so for now we are only seeing Crystal. We like her a lot. read more

Amanda did a great job with our Golden Retriever. She gave her a good trim without taking too much off and gave her a bath with de-shedding shampoo which helped get rid of a lot of her undercoat. She did a fantastic job!! We will definitely go back to see Amanda. read more

Never been to a pet store with such rude employees except for crystal the groomer. The people they have walking around doing basically nothing are real low grade employees. Not to mention place is a complete ripoff I actually think they raised there prices due to covid. read more

Not much to say simply because these are a franchise store and follow a corporate agenda. The one here in Gilford NH is bright and cheerful. The staff was eager to please and well informed. The place was clean and smelled good for a pet store.Cages and fish tanks were clean and the critters looked feed well. As any big store, the prices were a little more than average. A nice feature is they have a pet food drop for a local pound to take. On the downside, they moved into a small town about a mile from a local mom and pop pet supply store that used to be a bustling little business. read more

Went to buy two guinea pigs. A worker named Emily helped me but wouldn't let me hold one of the pigs I was interesting in buying. She also had told me that all male guinea pigs were half off. After she had taken a very long time getting the paperwork we checked out. The next day I had noticed they charged me full price for burg if the pigs. I called the store and talked to Kim trying to explain the situation and she very rudely cut me off saying that they were not half off. Very disappointed with the lack of communication between the workers and their rude attitude towards as regular customer. Will not be shopping at Petco any longer ): read more
