It's not quite an "urban concept" Winners as the size isn't that small, but it feels tight in there because of the layout. I love Winners as a brand, so I'll always go here when I'm in Montreal, but is it my favourite Winners? No. It's crowded and busy like the one in Place Montreal Trust, but doesn't have the same selection. It is a newer location. I think it only open in 2017, although I realize that newer is relative since as I'm writing this that's 7 years ago. Haha. I consider anything that opened after I left Montreal "newer" but as time goes on, I forget that I left Montreal a very long time ago, lol. It's probably my least favourite of the 4 Winners in the downtown-ish area (Alexis Nihon, Place Montreal Trust, and Peel bring the other 3), but I love Winners so even a bad Winners is still pretty good to me. Haha. Review #8 (2025)

I needed some exercise clothes and some clothes for a camp trip and figured I'd pop in here before heading to MEC down the street and honestly, I found everything I needed for a quarter of the price. Of course they don't have any specialty equipment, and some of it is luck, for sure, depending on what rolls through the door. Winners gets brand name and fairly high quality apparel and home decor but they it in get piles of random sizes and colours or lines that just didn't sell enough to escape the bargains. For athletic clothes it was great. I found lined, water-wicking pants good for winter camping or jogging in the cold, merino wool long johns that I may not take off till July, high wasted super comfy and thick leggings, and cuuuute sports tops. It's important to feel cute if you're going to be sweaty. I also found a bunch of stuff I considered buying for the house but decided to wait. Worth checking out for the prices though, especially if you;re already in the area to check out a movie or MEC or the Marche Central.

OMG this is a bloody amazing store!…read more My mom used to visit her sister in Boston, primarily to go to the Uniqlo store there, and then she'd visit me in Seattle, and then Vancouver when I moved there, and the first thing on her list was always to go to the Uniqlo stores in that city. It's always been a go-to store for her and my dad, as it always has had the BEST basic wardrobe staples - and then some! - in sizing that FITS, and of excellent quality. It was just such a big bummer that my folks had to travel far and wide to get to any of their stores. And they had nightmare experiences, trying to order stuff from their website. It was important for them to actually try on the clothing. So it was great anticipation that we all waited for this store to open up in Montreal! I sent my mom status updates, on the store opening, for months before it opened, and she is just in heaven now that the store is in her city! I visited the store yesterday and even though I had read about it being the flagship Canadian store and all its features, I was still blown away by it. It is gorgeous! Huge, well laid-out, excellent signage, clean, open, spanning two levels. With all the excellent clothing for men, women and kids that they are known for. They have always had excellent sales, and right now, they are selling their winter jackets for a steal (and they are known for their winter jackets, along with base layers/thermal "Heat" layers). In fact, a lot of their winter gear is on sale right now, and they have an enormous selection of everything. So if you're in the market for cold weather clothing, you need to get there ASAP. All Uniqlo offer free hemming of their pants if they are too long on you (I've used this free feature a few times in their Seattle store. It was great!). I've gotten lots of clothes here and they've all withstood years of hard wear, so I'm a big fan. And now with this new, jazzy store, Montreal, you got it made!

I was surprised it's actually a Japanese brand.

The shoes that DID manage to capture my attention, white Zespas, had a differing price point from another retailer that I knew to carry them. The price at Tozzi was somewhat higher (by 100$). I voiced this matter to the employee, and he said that if that was truly the case with the other retailer, that he would match that price easily. And true to his word, he did lower the price to match the other. I appreciated the act and was impressed by the customer service that he delivered. They truly do aim to please their clients. The ONLY concern that I had with my experience was the excess attention given to me. As a client, I like to breathe and think of my options, so I would have appreciated just a little more space from the employee. I don't particularly enjoy feeling obliged to buy, even though I truly wanted the shoes. Nevertheless, aside from this minute detail, great experience at Tozzi!

I often find brands sold at Sephora for a fraction of the cost. Just beware that the mascaras are sometimes dried up, but I've had good luck with all other make up items. The colors (black, rust, navy, cream), the layout, and the clothes themselves all go together. The feeling is warm and inviting, so you want to go explore all the pieces on display. I used to sell yarn and fabric, so I loved the different textures and materials on display, from a luxuriously dense knit sweater to an elegant silk blouse. The design of each item was trendy but approachable -- I am a jeans and t-shirt kinda lady but I saw things I would wear. So why didn't I come home with a whole new wardrobe? Price, of course, sigh. Les Étoffes is definitely a special-occasion boutique, and alas I was only sightseeing. While I was there, though, a young man was trying on shirts and mentioned that he was making his first L.E. purchase. It seemed like he'd been looking forward to that day for a while.
