The Winn Dixie Liquor store is not adjacent to the supermarket like most usually are. The liquor store is still in the same shopping plaza not too far for the supermarket just a short drive over. Winn Dixie has come a long way over the past several years. Their prices have come down a bit, to be more competitive with other retail giants, but still more expensive than discount grocers. I have always liked the prepared foods at their deli, and the fried chicken is usually done well. The exception was last Saturday. The chicken was advertised in their weekend flyer (10 pc leg & thigh) for $8.99. No chicken was in the warmer, nor any boxed ready to go. When I asked for it, the person there just said they didn't have any. I told her it was advertised in their weekend special, then she said, it would have to be cooked and it would be another 35 minutes. I decided to shop and wait for it. I went back later, no one was at the Hot Food deli for about 8 minutes, finally someone came from the cold food deli to see what I needed. She gave me the chicken that was boxed and put up on a rack. I took it home and it appeared visibly lighter than usually and was slightlly soggy. when I bit into it, I noticed that it was not fully cooked (see photo), which made it inedible. I also would like to note that the chicken was serverely underseasoned. I went back to the store to speak with management to address the fact that I was given undercooked chicken which poses a serious risk of food born illness. I personally have experienced food poisoning in the past from restaurant food, and it is definitely an unpleasant experience. I do appreciate that the management was understanding and did issue a refund. I used to work as a cook for a hotel, and I know all too well how such a thing can happen. Most likely the cooking oil was old and degraded which caused food to cook at a lower temp. I hope that this is just an isolated incident. I will give them the benefit of the doubt for the time being. read more

I have to say that I like this layout of this particular Winn-Dixie. This location is not far from where 436 and 17-92 intersects, which makes it an extremely convenient location. Winn-Dixie has done a lot in changing for the better in the last few years. When I moved to Orlando, Florida back in 2001, Winn-Dixie was a great supermarket chain to shop at, but over the course of time and years, Winn-Dixie slipped in quality significantly. It was such a significant change that I pretty much stopped going to Winn-Dixie unless it was for a specific item that was on sale. Somewhere along the way, Winn-Dixie, or rather Southeastern Grocers, which is the parent company of Winn-Dixie, noticed the slip in quality or probably more likely, they noticed the declining trend in sales and they took action. These actions are definitely for the better. The best improvement that Winn-Dixie (and Southeastern Grocers) made is in their meat department and put an emphasis on getting a better quality beef. They also carry USDA Choice and put an emphasis on that beef instead of their inferior beef that is only USDA inspected and not graded. For a supermarket that once called itself the Beef People, it is great to see that they are focusing on their beef once again. All in all, this is a great Winn-Dixie location and one that I would definitely recommend and I give it five stars. read more

So I thought I give this store another chance. I used to love shopping here but no more. It looks like a lot of new employees. Now there's a couple of guys in the meat won't do special requests and he's grumpy when asked for something. Someone told me it's their new boss. The fruit and vegetables always look well taken care of. The cleanliness of the store is always top notch. The bakery is bursting with delicious desserts and such. There's always someone behind the deli or customer service desk eager to help. Prices are clear and reasonable. It seems that there is not enough variety in places to shop. The staff are always pleasant. However, the number of times I have gotten something that is expired off the shelves is alarming. I can recall at least 5 separate occasions one time it was pepperoni and then when I went to check the whole wall of pepperoni in that aisle was expired. Another time it was ham and then once some prepackaged cookies. I always check the expiration on the packages now. The produce is in bad shape oftentimes as well. Just this week I saw tomatoes shriveled up and apparently the peppers I bought were bad and the potatoes have already gone bad. read more

So let me start this review off by stating the fact that, this is the nice Winn-dixie that I've ever been to! They also planned the layout wisely, once you walk in, there's the deli and wing bar right in front of you! Luckily for me, this is what I came for. I don't know if they have a time limit on when they get rid of the chicken like other locations, but these wings were fully stocked! Not only were their wings, there were mini corn dogs and potato wedges to fill your box with. The biggest box is $12.99, so fill it up as much as possible and you can mix and match the flavors, if you're cool mixing your flavors. The flavors available are, plain, breaded, BBQ, Teriyaki, Buffalo, Ranch, and lemon pepper. The wings aren't bad, so I'll definitely come back to get wings real quick and call it a day. Made a quick stop here for breakfast essentials after making a donation at the Goodwill right next door. Quickly found the three things I needed but I saw some new additions which looked interesting: they now offer an olive oil filling area where it's $11.99 for the first fill and $8 for each additional one afterwards with bottles in the area plus there was a balsamic keg as well. Interesting Winn Dixie.. very interesting. I went to the self check out with my three things, rang up and vroom I was hitting the road again. Now I will say, the one thing I don't like about that exit ramp is how steep it is so that if you're not careful and slow turning to the left your car's bummer is going to scrap asphalt. This store is on my way home from work. I often stop by for this or that as opposed to big grocery trips that I do at the location closer to our house. But this location is nice and updated. I always find it to be clean and is not as busy as other places I frequent. They have plenty of self-checkouts which is nice when you're only grabbing a couple of things. The one thing Winn Dixie needs to work in is that their self-checkouts don't take their own store coupons which is super inconvenient. The store is pretty large and has a nice meat selection. Their produce area is fairly large as is their beer and wine section. This is a nice place to shop. read more

I was primarily shopping at Walmart but I decided to make Winn-Dixie my main store and my last visit was confirmation. I was looking all over the store to repurchase a packet of smoothie mix and was sent over to produce which distracted me because I didn't purchase it from that area of the store. I was introduced to Ruben who only had chocolate/banana, so I finished shopping and checked out. Ruben had been looking for me and didn't see me, he came out to the parking lot to let me know that he was able to locate the strawberry and the banana for me, I was so impressed that he cared enough to go the extra mile which is rare these days, and good help is hard to find! Ruben is clearly a dedicated employee who seems to enjoy and take pride in his job and that really matters. I am so proud of Ruben and how he signed up for a job and he's doing that job with excellence!!!!!!!!!!!!! And, I'm glad that Winn Dixie empowered Ruben to exercise customer satisfaction. read more

They get a bad wrap, but our local store is always super clean, employers are helpful, great selection to choose from and prices are better than Publix. Also its NEVER crazy busy like a walmart, even at peak hours on Saturday's and Sunday's. They also have great sales and BOGOs all of the time on great products. With the Winn Dixie card you also accumulate points to use on gas, restaurants etc. I have gotten 50 cents off gallon of gas, paying like 1.15 per gallon. Overall great place, great produce for conpetitive pricing and i highly recommend this location in fern park if you need to do some grocery shopping! Make sure you get the new winn Dixie card to start saving on other things. Being Jewish, they have a great kosher section and when it comes to passover they have a much larger section to choose from than any other grocers in the area. read more

I am giving this a 3 star because I want to be fair. 2 of the people there that I had to deal with in leadership were very nice especially Sean The night manager. He was so sweet and so respectful and just search a polite man. But there was a man named Jonathan there that was the exact opposite in fact I was absolutely shocked at how disrespectful he spoke to me with absolutely no reason for it at all. I won't waste my time saying all the nasty things he said to me but I will say he has no business behind the courtesy counter he belongs in the back stocking shelves or stalking in the back where nobody can see him because he is the most rude and polite young man that I have ever had the displeasure of having to deal with in a grocery store. Jonathan was so disrespectful that I would not shop in the store. But again I want to say that Sean was such a gentleman and so sweet and so polite and so respectful he is a wonderful manager. read more

This is an amazing Winn-Dixie! I worked at one in Sanford for four years and it was not as nice as this! This one had everything, hot food bars, salad bars, etc! I love shopping here and they even have a recipe printer although the printer never works. :/ I just take a picture with. Y phone though. Anyways, this is a beautiful store. read more

Worst Winn Dixie Ive ever been to. The management staff is the least useful part of the entire store. They tell their staff to start breaking down the bakery and the deli at 6:30, so you can never go after work and find fresh hot food. on top of that the prices that are posted on the food items are never accurate. I have never had a positive experience shopping there. Ive even had the managers tell me not to buy certain items because they are not worth the money, they have even directed me to go to wal-mart to purchase a comparable item; one point for bad salesmanship. Staff has always been rude and pretentious, the only positive staff member Ive ever encountered was Denali, at the cheese section. Wish it could close down so they can turn it into a Publix. read more

I have not been to this Winn Dixie in a very long time. When I walked into this Winn Dixie my mouth fell open like a venus fly trap sucking up a fly. WOW the remolding did wonders to this place. It is very cozy and warm. They have big aisles which I like to maneuver and they hole several people. The deli center is huge with several varieties with the following bbq bar, fried chicken, wings, pizza, salads. The m&m candy wall is just fantastic and brings out the kid in anyone. The produce area look like a picture from a magazine. Everything smells so good in produce. The seafood is set up nice, bright and clean, They just need to refinish the other floors so everything looks fresh and clean. Also add more of a variety tot he juices you sell. I will be back!! Way better than it was, the remodel really spiffed the place up, too bad the customer service stayed the same. Painfully long wait at the customer service desk to check out (I needed smokes, don't judge), then some old dude stepped in front of me. The employee saw this but waited on him anyway and just gave me a shrug. Urgh. Also, have no Winn Dixies in my neck of the woods but do go to a BiLo on a regular basis. This is not your typical Winn Dixie. It has an amazing bakery with great mini cupcakes! And it even has macarons! The hot bar and deli are top of the line and everything throughout the store shiny and new. There is even an internet cafe! read more

The deli area of this Winn Dixie has to equal any other independent deli with their own store front. I have tried the wing bar and give them a "C" overall with a "B" when the wings are first put out. Next is the BBQ bar - forget the ribs and chicken. They are cooked well but then smothered with some cheap brand of BBQ sauce that makes them all taste the same. Their BBQ beans have a nice flavor with a generous amount of meat cooked into them so they get an "A" from me. The pot roast is what you would expect from a cook in the bag roast at home but the white rice was perfect. Next was the mac n cheese which gets a "B" and of course I had to try the banana pudding which also rates a "B". Move to the pasta bar and pick whatever you like All of the pasta salads I have tried are "A" rated for flavor and texture. If the bar areas don't have what you want them step to the full service counter for special meats, subs, and cheese. ENJOY! read more
