The food was okay. It was warm. There wasn't a lot of flavor. The service was good. I don't recommend the egg drop soup or the crab meat. Otherwise it was okay. I really liked the mushrooms. Beware that there is a sign that if you waste a lot of food they will charge you extra so just beware of that.

The best thing about this restaurant is the older waitress!!! The food is ok. It all tastes the same.

Looking for good, affordable Mexican food in Lancaster? I'd choose this place over nearby…read moreMariachi's any day. Why? The prices are comparably better, the staff is friendly, and the food feels a lot lighter on my stomach than the brick that Mariachi's always seems to deliver. The people that work here are very friendly. My dad goes weekly, sometimes with a friend, and they ALWAYS remember them as well as what they order! Not all of them speak the clearest English, though, but I deem that a seal of authenticity! Don't see exactly what you want on the menu? Ask for it! I usually get a single chicken quesadilla with rice. The plate is always completely full and steaming hot when it reaches me; it's just the right amount of food. And for how much? Something like $4. You can't beat that! My dad usually gets the buffet, which has a bunch of different options. He and his friend even like their wings, which is surprising for a Mexican restaurant. The buffet also comes with a dessert item - sopapilla, a fried tortilla with cinnamon sugar, with optional honey to drizzle on top. If you ask, they will put a scoop of vanilla ice cream to finish it off! :) Their complimentary salsa is DELICIOUS, made fresh, and can vary in spiciness depending on the batch that day. The chips that come along with them are light and crispy. Best ones I've ever had. Overall, if you're a Lancaster resident, I'd recommend you give this place a try. You may just become a regular! EDIT: And to address the naysayers - let's remember here that we're talking about cheap Mexican food in Lancaster, SC. You're not going to get 5-star quality, but that doesn't mean it isn't tasty!

I am going to use several superlatives. Don't think I'm overhyping this restaurant. When I say it's…read moreabsolutely amazing, I'm being completely sincere. I used to review restaurants for a daily newspaper, so I know how to be critical. The trouble with Judy Boone's is that there's nothing to criticize; except for maybe the wait which is justified. We were there for BBQ night, with our 19 and 22 year old sons. My youngest left a pile of rib bones as high as his head. My oldest discovered that he really likes fried pork chops and proceeded to eat four. I had popcorn shrimp, fried chicken, chicken and dumplings, pulled pork, green beans, chicken bog, sweet potatoes and later peach pudding. Each was extraordinary; not just extraordinary, the sort of food that makes you gasp and how amazing it tastes, each commanding your attention and demanding to be your new favorite. I can only assume the chefs here are wizards. Our server was warm and friendly without being obtrusive. I think that's a tough line to walk. The decor is charming and evocative. There's just something magical about it, especially as a man from the north. Maybe this is all normal for South Carolina, but I suspect not. Locals are so lucky to have this in their area and me and my family have found a new vacation 'must stop' for future trips to Myrtle Beach.

I know they were closing early, but they were far from closing down. They must have a good enough business to turn away customers that would have been loyal future customers, but Judy Boone must not need that....RICH AND RUDE! Happy Father's Day, y'all!

I see they add a gratuity automatically if you have more than 5 people sitting in one section. Thought that was a bit unusual but since it's a buffet maybe that's normal. The guys all had different things. The General Tso's chicken was deemed good, lots of items to choose from. I tried the chicken wings (just so-so), but nothing to write home about. I also tried some type of meat that looked good (almost like a beef stew) but it was ice cold. Terrible. Sample the fried fish filets and they were good. A bunch of us tried various sushi rolls and found them good, along with clams and mussels. There was something for everyone. The dessert had some vanilla pudding ( I think the guys thought it was a banana pudding), and to me it just looked like plain vanilla pudding with some wafers on the side. I passed on that. Quite a few had some of the mixed softserve ice cream and liked it. Three or four ordered from the "Make to order meals" where you select your meats, rice or noodles, and they prepare it for you. Overall it was a good experience. Average rating was a 4.1 for the group.
