Our child is an extremely strong willed child that doesn't trust strangers easily. Dr. Barnes was a magician with our daughter and was able to do a complete eye exam without having to dialate her eyes. It was truly amazing to see. A full exam and not traumatic at all. Got my first prescription in 2015 at a well known nationwide chain owned by a guy named Sam that happened to have Vision Centers. You know who I am talking about. Anyway, what I learned in this getting glasses process is that Optometrists, of course, require extensive training. However, the employees who take the prescription and MAKE your glasses only require a high school diploma and OJT! Seriously? In 2015 and 2017 I went to two different locations of the "Sam owned" stores. Both times I got Progressive three way (no, not the darkening ones, just the three way). Both times I had to "adjust" to wearing them. I thought this was the way it was. Ok, now it's 2020, been three years, I live in a different place my glasses are getting iffy for seeing. Due to the COVID I decided NOT to go to the Sam owned place. I decided to try this place out. I also got Progressive Three Way. Gotta wear masks..... The inside of the location is not too impressive. But this place is also a major supplier of people on Medicaid so don't let that be an issue. The Optometrist does the Glaucoma test by using eye drops, not the "poof" test. I informed him that I had a reaction to eye drops in a prior exam due to chemical sensitivity. The Optometrist was ok with that, and found other ways to test for Glaucoma. I also mentioned that in 2015 I had been told I had the "beginnings" of cataracts. The Optometrist said that the cataracts had not progressed at all, so whatever I am doing must be working. (I take Lutein, available in vitamin stores.) Ok, now time to make the glasses. The employee did the whatever..... was nice and friendly. Got my glasses about 2.5 weeks later. OH WOW! I CAN SEE! No adjustment time needed! Either great strides have been made in Progressive Three Ways or this employee was GOOD at their job! The only thing I didn't like was the selection of frames. Pretty standard, nothing fancy or really pricey. Well, except for my sun glasses. I got sun glasses that have a gasket inside to block out light from coming at the top of the frames. They were pricey! My previous sun glasses were just prescription lens and a standard frame. At the two "sam owned" places, two pairs of glasses and prescription sun glasses were about $1,000. Same here. Came to around $1,000. My employer insurance does not cover glasses and I did not get the supplemental vision policy. So I paid myself. If you are over 50 and wear glasses, I highly recommend spending the bucks and getting prescription sun glasses. That way you can still read with the sun glasses on. I think that is helping me on the cataracts. Besides, during this COVID thing it is fun to go into grocery stores with sun glasses and a mask and nobody blinks.......

The prescription was ground 1/4 inch too low in my lenses. In order to see things clearly (both…read morenear and far) I would have to lean my head back so I was looking through the lenses 1/4 inch lower than normal. This made the reading area about 1/8 inch up from the bottom of the lenses. Having to tilt my head back like that caused neck pain. Took the glasses back and told them the problem. Explaining the 1/4 inch difference. I asked that they redo the lenses. All they would do is bend on the frame. There was no offer to replace the lenses. I was told to try the glasses for a few days and come back if needed. For me it is an 80 mile one way trip to Wenatchee. I am not going to spend $20 in fuel for sub-par service.

While I was in Room 20 on the second floor, I could clearly hear the doctor-patient conversation in the room next to me. I raised the concern during my visit and was told the sound machine in the room is there because this is a known issue. My doctor also told me he had already raised the issue with Confluence management, no action had been taken, and he would mention it again. When I asked if it was just this room, he said no, it was every room.
