I am an eyelash extension newbie, so I came in not knowing what I wanted. There's a 30% first timer discount on Yelp and on their website, so make sure to check that out. They were super helpful in helping me decide what kind of lashes to get - I ended up getting the semi cateye, c-curl, 11-12mm and mascara thickness (which is a little thicker than usual) up to 110 lashes total. There were lockers for your belongings, so that felt secure. The process took about an hour and was rather relaxing if it weren't for the fact that a lady getting her lashes did had brought her panting toy dog with her that I had to listen to. I feel like my lashes could have used a bit more of a gradation so that shorter lashes were used towards the corners of my eyes so it would look more natural. I also didn't realize how god awfully itchy they are if you prefer to sleep with an eye mask like me since they are essentially stiff plastic bristles. I get eyelash extensions very often and I've tried out a few salons before, both high end salons and moderate priced ones. I came here for the first time to get a new set of lashes. I had some older lash extensions on from another salon, which I told them about before my appointment. They told me I could either have my old ones removed completely, or just add new ones on. I chose to add them on. The process was so painful. The technician started off by removing some of my old lashes and it HURT! She was using a lot of pressure and there was a lot of pulling and prodding. I've NEVER experienced pain during an eyelash removal and this was very alarming to me. I could feel how rough she was pulling and I knew she was not being careful. She was also very rushed (I arrived 11 mins late to my appointment, which is my fault, but if that means I get poor, rushed service, I'd very much rather you turn me away). After we were done, she asked me what I thought. I looked in the mirror and said, "it looks the same." Because it did. You could hardly tell that she added 50 lashes. She agreed with me, and said maybe next time I can come for a retouch with more lashes. I am livid because I just left the salon and as I look at my lashes in the mirror, I see that some of my natural lashes were ripped off the extensions and now are very short or just gone from the poor removal process. I cannot believe I just paid $85 for 50 lashes per eye (this is after the 30% discount and my tip), and that some of natural lashes are now ruined. In addition, the lashes that they use look very wispy and thin, and not at all high quality like other lashes I've gotten before. The service here is amazing. I've been here 3 times now and have been very happy with how my lashes have turned out. Each time I go it's a relaxing hour for me. I fall asleep and the technician does their job and when I wake up, I have pretty lashes. If you don't know what you want, the technicians can recommend something based on how you like your lashes. I ended up getting a mix of 10 and 11 with c curls. The third time I went, I told the tech my concern of having some unevenness because for some weird reason my left eye always came out looking shorter (prob because of my short lashes) but the tech was able to help with that by giving me more 11s on my left eye and the overall effect looked a lot better. The owner of this place, Su is super friendly. She texts you to make sure everything went well after your first visit. They also text you aftercare instructions to remind you not to wet your lashes for 24 hrs. And they give friendly 2 week reminders for touch ups. A few points for easy reading: 1. easy to schedule and reschedule appointments 2. Everyone speaks English. This is huge because 90% of asian salons have difficulty understanding more comprehensive english which could make it difficult for you to get what you need as a customer and for them to provide the necessary services 3. Cute place! Cute decor, awesome waiting area - like they care about their business. 4. They have a sink with mirror and they provide cotton pads, qtips, tissues, eye makeup remover, etc so you can remove any makeup prior to getting your lashes done. 5.I got the intro package which is about 50 lashes per eye. For $10 more you can get the thicker lashes which has a more dramatic effect. 6. My specialist - Jackie took a look at my natural lashes and made a recommendation on the length of extensions given my request for "a more natural look" though in the end, I wish I went just 1 length longer. 7. Took a full hour to apply the lashes. It's hard for me to stay still for an hour and Jackie was very sweet asking if I was okay, if I wanted a piece of candy, etc. 8.. They charge for refill/touch ups and they also charge for lash removal. 9. When it came time to pay, they charged $2 for a "Service Fee". This is the part I wasn't thrilled about because these sort of fees need to be disclosed somewhere. Maybe I missed it somewhere but in the service industry, these types of fees should be defined and explained clearly for the customer. 10. They tell you the lashes last for 2-3 weeks. That is the truthful answer. As someone that has had extensions done with many different salons, the truth is they last for the most part anywhere from 2-3 week with most of the lashes gone by the 3rd week and you may have a few stragglers the 4th week. My lashes lasted a solid 3 weeks with extra care. 11. They encourage you to tip your specialist on the full service amount. They shouldn't have to encourage it - it should be understood. I have been getting my lashes done at Wink for a while. I go to both their 32nd and 36th st location. I'm terrible at making appointments and usually book last minute but they're always very accommodating. My lashes always come out great! They also last me up to 4-6 weeks so it's great for when I don't have time to get them filled. There was one incident where I didn't like how they came out but the owner was very nice and understanding about it, she set me up with another tech the following day at no extra charge and fixed it to my liking. I get my lash extension regularly so I know if a place uses good-quality adhesive and lashes. Unfortunately this salon isn't one of the bests I've tried. First, my eyes felt irritated and burned during the procedure. It did go away within hours, but it was my very first time to feel the chemical in my two-year history of getting lash extension regularly. I'm also not 100-percent satisfied by how close the technician placed the false lashes to my real lash roots. The result looked beautiful, but I could feel the hard-end of the false lashes on my eyelids when I blink sometimes. In terms of the facility and service, I have nothing to complain. The salon was clean and everyone there was nice. I just wish they used better quality adhesive next time and I'll remind my technician not to glue the extension so close to my eyelids. read more

All you do is call, and they make sure to even send you a reminder text of your appointment, time, and location. Accessibility and Ambience: the salon is so cute and serene. There is not a hoard of people waiting to be attended to, instead you walk up and the receptionist asks you what look you are going for. If you are a newcomer like me, this can be a loaded question. There is a chart to look at, however, and because I believe I'm a Kardashian in my head - I chose 12mm, C-curl, 130. They wish you into the back room that has a little cubby for your bag, jacket, and shoes. Then you lie on your back for an hour and let the process begin. 3. Application: I felt nothing. Honestly, I could have been slipped into a polar vortex in that hour, and never would have known it. She taped my bottom lashes down, and applied tape to some other places - besides the smell of glue in the beginning, her hands were light and magical. The hour flew by, and I was done before I knew it. There is harp music playing, and it is nice and cool in there! 4. Afterwards: they give you a reminder card with the date that you SHOULD come in next for your touch up. I also feel like they did not listen to me as they were way too long for me. And I know how they are supposed to feel I have gotten lashes done for years. I asked for 130 lashes which is my usual but the technician isn't able to deliver. I've only been to one other place. First off, one should not get their new eyelashes wet for 24 hours because the glue need settle in. When I got my eyelashes done at another place, the glue burned/stung my eyes. So when I got my eyelashes done at Wink Eyelash, I was pleasantly surprised that it didn't hurt as much every time I showered/ washed my face. Appointment are easy to make via text message or via phone. I can usually get a appointment to fit my somewhat busy schedule. I have a hard time laying down still for an hour. One time, I was a bit uncomfortably hot and I couldn't take it any longer. But the lady did tell me to just wait a little longer. I made an appointment in advance and they are very prompt - if you're new to getting extensions or forgot (like me) what you normally get, no worries! The technician is a professional and will work with you to achieve the look you want. I usually go for a natural and full look and the technician gave me exactly what I wanted. She was also very fast which is a huge plus. My eyes didn't hurt at all (which frequently happens if you go to a bad technician) and she gave me aftercare instructions to make my lashes last as long as possible. Shocking experience, I was being called a liar and asked to get out after paying $150. This is what happened. The receptionist was kind but the attitude of the technician, (I think her name was Rita) that helped me must have had a bad day. First of all she was not open to giving me any suggestions at all on which length and style when I asked for her opinion. That's fine, maybe she didn't really know what to suggest. Then, while putting on the extensions, glue seeped into my eyes and i flinched out of reflex. She made an extremely annoyed sound and when i did it again, let out a rude scowl. I explained to her that I wasn't doing it on purpose, and it was really painful because the glue has gone into my eyes, not only did she not apologized but she responded with "you want me to take it all off?". I didn't want to fight so I kept quiet, but I then made up my mind that I will not tip her. After I paid $150, I intentionally took a bit of time and finally the receptionist reminded me about tipping. I told her right away that I was glad she asked but sorry I won't tip because of the bad attitude. I told the receptionist it was not because of her but the technician. And the receptionist acknowledged that she heard what happened during the treatment. When I was about to leave the technician came out, she then said, "Carol you are a liar, you slept!" I responded, "yes I know I slept, but my eyes were closed and it was a nature reflect that when my eyes were painful." I didn't know that you are not allowed to fall asleep during the 1 hour treatment while eyes need to be closed. The receptionist apologized, while the technician then told me to "Get out!". Her reaction was just unprofessional and rude, she never apologized to me a single time and it made me feel extremely uncomfortable. It is safe to say that I will never return here. I am just really unlucky I guess. The owner Fred did send me an apology note and call me quickly to show concern about what happened. The receptionist must have called to let him know. He was sorry and thought his technician crossed the line but also emphasized that that technician is their most desirable one by their clients. However, no matter how good you are, if you don't know what means respect, you mean nothing. It is important to be professional as well as understanding the very basic rule to respect the customers. I know you're wondering.... What about the lashes? Well they last on average 3 to four weeks. Now this said, I don't use mascara on my extension nor do I wear eye shadow. I'm able to extend the normal time frame because I'm very careful regarding the care institutions. I wait the customary 24 before using water on my eyes and remain careful while I have them. I just wanted a nice basic eyelash to lengthen my already thick eyelashes. Then, I felt was pushed into getting the mascara lashes and paid an extra $13. It was a bad decision, I wasn't happy with them at all. The chemicals were strong and burned and my lashes looked thick and bulky. I had a photo shoot the next day so I was mortified, but I was the last appointment so they couldn't remove them at the time. When I called back today since they are closed on Sunday, they said it would be $20 to remove the lashes! They said even if I removed them that night it would've been $20. Wow.
