It was…read morea slow evening, with only a handful of other diners, but that worked in my favor--plenty of brisket left, and it was perfect. Tender, flavorful, and exactly what you hope for when you order brisket. For my side, I went with the mac n' cheese, which was better than average--satisfying without being overly heavy. I finished the meal with a slice of pecan pie that deserves its own spotlight: hands down the best I've ever had. The atmosphere is casual and fun, with plenty of high-top seating and tables. TVs are scattered throughout so you can keep up with your favorite game while you eat. I even spent some time admiring the walls--where else can you enjoy BBQ in the company of a Jaws poster and the Marlboro Man? Turns out, at Martin's. Bonus points for a large parking lot, making it easy to get in and out. If you're looking for great brisket and a laid-back vibe, Martin's BBQ is worth the stop.

I ordered the hot chicken sandwich along with their smoked wings, which were highly recommended. The wings definitely lived up to the recommendation. They were cooked very well, had great flavor, and were easily the highlight of my meal. The ranch was good too, and they even gave me some extra without charging me, which I appreciated. They also have your standard Coca-Cola products for drinks. As far as the chicken sandwich, it seemed more like chicken tenders served on bread rather than a traditional chicken breast sandwich, but it was still good. The sauce helped bring everything together, and the heat level was just right for me--not too mild, but not overpowering either. One thing to know before you go: there isn't any indoor seating. This is more of an order-and-go type of spot. They do have a few picnic-style tables outside if the weather is nice, but most people will probably grab their food and head out. Overall, I enjoyed my experience. If I'm back in Louisville and craving some smoked wings, I'd definitely stop by again. Those alone are worth the trip.

I forget the name of the burger or what exactly was on it but, I did provide photos. The burger was well cooked and I loved the seasoning they put on the bun. I had one of the Jack Daniels specialty bourbon. I believe it was like a blackberry lemonade I'm not sure. I just know it was very good. This is definitely an underrated Louisville (Southend) Gem. Love the nostalgia of the place and the environment seemed fantastic. No complaints here. I would love to come back.

We started with 1/2 pound of hot and spicy peel and eat shrimp and a dozen oysters. Great preparation and taste. It was apparently all so good and we had such a great time that we forgot to take photos of the food. We shared steamer bowls and a captain's platter. This allowed for a variety of crab legs, steamed oysters, sausages, corn, red potatoes, garlic Parmesan bread, shrimp, grouper, onion rings, clam strips, along with butter, tartar sauce, and cocktail sauce. We had arrived famished and we all left satiated and carrying out To Go boxes. Our server was fantastic, helping us relocate inside when the storm popped up, and very attentive through our entire visit. Looking forward to future visits and more great seafood.

Ordering was straightforward, and the food came out quickly--about 10 minutes after placing the order. Its counter ordering/pickup service so keep that in mind, but there are tables to sit at and a self-serve sauce and drink station which was nice. There are five different sauces available and they're honestly all great. The meats are served without sauce, which allows you to customize each item individually which is nice. I tasted each meat and side without sauce for this review to get a sense of the flavor that most places cover up. I got the Judges platter for $40 and heres what it came with: Sides first: The mac and cheese was rich, clearly heavy on cheese flavor which was a suprise, and well-seasoned with a noticeable saltiness. It wasn't as saucy as the homemade stuff(which i do love) and it did not have any smoky character, but it was better than a typical restaurant mac and cheese. The corn pudding was sweet and soft in texture, similar to a cornbread casserole with corn mixed in. It was quite sweet overall and leans more toward a dessert-style side than a savory one. Would probably be great with ice cream on top. Texas toast was solid. It was a good size, well-toasted, buttery, with a soft interior similar to brioche and a crisp exterior. No complaints here. Meats: Pulled pork was tender. Smoke flavor was present but subtle. There was a small bone found in the portion, and some pieces were fattier than others but i honestly love the fatty parts. Above Average. Brisket was excellent in texture--very tender and easy to pull apart. It had a clear smoky flavor and stood out as one of the better meats. I love the fat to meat ratio. This was excellent melt in your mouth meat. Chicken thigh was very juicy, but had less smoke flavor compared to the other meats. Its hard to make chicken not boring so this was average. Ribs were very good. They looked a little dry but they were tender, falling off the bone while still holding a slight bite like they're supposed to have. The smoke flavor on the ribs was more noticeable and well developed than on some of the other meats. Above Average Overall impression: The food quality was consistently strong across the board. There were no major issues aside from a small bone in the pulled pork. The smoke profile across the menu is more subtle compared to traditional local barbecue spots, but it is also controlled and avoids the overly dry meat or overly smoky issue that can happen elsewhere. At around $40 for the meal, the value is decent rather than exceptional, especially for a chain restaurant. However, the food quality is high enough that it still feels justified. Final rating: Food quality: A Value: B

My mac & cheese was also tough, chewy & crunchy with no exciting flavor. Collard greens? Bland & about 30% stems. The pulled chicken acquired some flavor after I doused it real good with a couple sauces. The wife had a two meat dinner of pulled chicken & brisket. She said they were ok. Her sides were coleslaw & baked beans. She wouldn't eat the coleslaw saying it had an unappetizing texture & was way too salty. The baked beans? Just ok. At the counter, waiting to place our order, we were immediately treated rudely and with what seemed to be an attitude of "Why are you bothering me?" I had a couple questions because it was our first time in that restaurant. I felt like we were responded to & treated in a rude and condescending manner. I work a job that caters to customers needs and works with them on a one on one basis. Never ever could I allow myself to treat one of my customers as we were treated by the employee we encountered at City BBQ.
