I went into this place again because I was in the area. It seems that not much has changed since the last time. SLOW SLOW SLOW!! They advertise that everything is made to order. This seems to be the Achilles heel of their business model because it takes forever to get your food. I was there after the lunch rush and it wasn't busy inside at all, but still took a very long time to get my order. The wings are OK. I tried two different sauces, the original hot, and the Korean spicy barbecue. The Korean one was pretty good. Their fries were OK as well, but I don't like that they leave the potato skins on. It's like eating dirt to me. Other places do this as well, so it's not just them, but I hate the trend in general. One other glaring problem is there are no napkins anywhere to be found. They only offer a brown paper towel roll (with no perforations) on their counter and you're expected to tear off what you think you will need and take it back to your table with you. Really? No napkins in a place that serves finger food? They did have wet naps, but I don't want to use those until I'm completely finished eating so I don't taste the flavor of wet naps with my food. Try it. You'll like it. I went to the Friends and Family pre-opening at WingStop, located in Millennium Plaza (near the Costco at Middlebelt & 96). Truthfully, I'd never heard of WingStop before my unexpected invite. Apparently, they have been around nationally since 1994 (not in MIchigan, until one first opened up to great success in Southfield) and the idea was serving the ultimate buffalo-style chicken wings in a casual and affordable atmosphere. Upon entering, the place is comfortable and simple, with WW2-era aviation decor. You order at the counter. Although the food is relatively familiar, it is served up with a WingStop twist: individual combos; dinner for 2 or family combos (or by the piece). Within these options there are classic wings, boneless, strips or glider sandwiches. Wing flavors are: Atomic, Cajun, Original Hot, Mild, Louisiana Rub, Hickory Smoked BBQ, Lemon Pepper, Parmesan Garlic, Hawaiian and Teriyaki. Fries also have a variety of flavors! It definitely takes a minute to get accustomed to the menu options. We opted for a Boneless Dinner for 2 and an individual glider meal. The combos come with fries and beverage. Between us, we tried the teriyaki, bbq, Parmesan garlic. All were terrific. We all ordered the seasoned fries, handcut and delicious. The seasoning has a touch of sugar in it which I LOVED (actually my daughter and husband were indifferent to it, I loved it). I wish we would have tried other flavors too - next time. Not only they constantly and consistently get orders wrong, they don't even attempt to acknowledge phone orders. I ordered the tenders and had them spun in hot and bbq sauces. Both were very flavorful. The tenders were quality. This place is a bit pricey as far as quick service lunch places go. That would be the only thing that keeps me from coming more often. Regardless, you always get what you pay for, and they're worth the price in my opinion. How does that happen on wings?? The Cajun did not have the spices. So I basically ordered a hot wing. The Louisiana rub was not flavorful for it to be a rub. My whole order was disappointing. Then the fries had red pepper seasoning. Is that a Detroit thing?! I would think the recipes would be consistent regardless of location. Wings are PERFECT! The whole family loved them and the sauces where different and great. Our favorites where the mild and garlic parmesan. We got a second order because they were that good! Be prepared to wait a bit as they do make them to order and it takes awhile but we were happy to wait. Only complaint is the cleanliness. The floors and tables were sticky and no one was cleaning up the empty tables so there was a lot of left over food just sitting at abandoned tables and chicken bones are not appetizing to look at... we double checked that we were not suppose to clean up like at other places with a similar set up (5 guys for example) but they told us they take care of it. I would recommend they put in some trash stations and let people throw away their trash. The staff was really busy and at a place like this, it's acceptable and kind of expected that you will have to discard your own garbage. The fries were really good, natural cut with the skin on & just the right amount of saltiness & not too much grease. Very tasty! I ordered the boneless strips with original sauce & chunky blue cheese dipping sauce. The chicken was very good quality, and the seasoning perfect. It was mile, but I wanted that as a baseline for tasting purposes (next time I'll go Cajun hot). The blue cheese was really good, and chunky as advertised. The bigger wing places have been hit and miss for me lately as far as this goes. The sauces I've tried so far are tasty, and the cajun fries are delicious. They could probably use another minute in the fryer to crisp up more, but all in all they're really good... with a lot of kick. Next time I'll ask for well-done fries. As far as the overall place goes, the atmosphere is fine. My sister said it was "cute." There are quite a few TVs in the place, and it was clean and not too cramped. The service earns them an extra star. The people seem to be genuinely friendly, checking in even though it's not a waited-table type of place. Best way to get to it is taking the service drive around the back way. Inside it's pretty simple. Few tvs playing sports and.. That's it. The wings themselves are good but can be salty. I mean very salty. I mean a salt lick would be jealous. Also it's very calorie rich. A wing ding alone is 100 calories and can go up depending on what seasoning you want. But everything is made to order and food is still piping hot when you get home. Online ordering is great too, and there always seems to be a deal or coupon code to keep you coming back (I'm looking at you BW3).
