When things had finally stabilized we decided to take ourselves out and landed at Lucky 13's. This is my kinda joint. Pub atmosphere, perfect (free) popcorn, fantastic retro tuneage, and speedy, efficient service are a given. The food is next level nom nom. They're one of the few restaurants out there that does a Monte Cristo sammich and when it's paired with their custom L13 Tots? Epicurean delights abound. The only reason I'm giving the experience 4 stars (rather than 5) is because their checkout process is entirely too old school. And the pen I was given to sign the receipt had little-to-no ink left in it. I know. Seems petty. But when it takes so long to do the whole card-bill-process-return dance that asking for a better writing utensil seems like a huge effort? Yup.

Turns out, this place is based on that very same place from my childhood! The sauce has a little bite to it, the toppings are all definitely a cut above the basic chain pizzerias. Good sausage, good pepperoni, nice chunks of fresh veggies... I love their sausage and mushroom pizza (canned mushrooms, not fresh - but very good!) and have tried a few other things. They put a generous amount of toppings on every pizza I have ordered. I tried the salad and it was good - filling. I tried the garlic bread and it was just ok for me. As I am typically a solo - a small pizza is more than enough. Considering it is not much more than similar pizzas from the big chains, I think it is worth it to enjoy a quality pizza instead.

I got myself a Chicken Tender meal with some honey mustard, and wow, the tenders were delicious, the fries were crispy, and even the toast that came on the side wasn't soggy or weird. We ordered it out of curiosity, and when we had a dollop of it with fries, it tasted like nothing at all.
