The prices here are moderate, most dishes $8.95-$19.95. 16 Chinese Combination Dinners served with chicken fried rice & egg roll ($9.95-$13.95) and 3 Vietnamese Combinations ($15.95-$17.95) are offered. They also serve a Lunch Buffet (Thu-Fri: 11AM-2PM) for $12.95 and a Supper Buffet (Fri-Sat: 5PM-8PM & Sun: 12PM-8PM) for $14.95. Items on the buffet may include wonton soup, egg rolls, chicken balls, chicken wings, fried wontons, chicken fried rice, chicken chow mein, beef with broccoli, spare ribs, moo goo gai pan, beef with green beans, and Chinese macaroni. I stopped in here recently for Sunday lunch. The supper buffet was minimally stocked at the noon opening time, not all items posted were on the buffet yet. Since I was on a schedule, I decided on takeout and ordered Combination 2 - Egg Roll, Chicken Fried Rice, Chicken Balls, and Chicken Chow Mein ($9.95 plus HST). The food was ready to go in under 10 minutes. The good portion of food was pretty good and tasted fresh. The chicken chow mein had mix of shredded cabbage, onion, carrot, strips of tender white meat chicken & crunchy noodles in a light sauce. The fried rice was freshly made with a soft texture and had very small pieces of chicken in the mix. The 5 deep fried battered chicken balls had tender pieces of white meat chicken inside and firm outside.The Canadian style egg roll was filled with a soft dense ground meat mix. Bulk Barn carries thousands of bulk items (almost everything I can think of and more) including spices, grains, flour, oats, confections, candies, chocolates, nuts, dried fruits, popping corn, seeds, snacks, nut butters, sugars, sweeteners, coffee, drink mixes, cake mixes, dried beans, rice, pasta, cereals, soup stocks, pet foods, and much more, all self serve bagged & tagged (write down item number) and weighed by the pound or 100 grams. Ingredients for the products are clearly displayed next to the price(s). They also carry vitamins & herbal supplements, as well as plenty of baking supplies and Wilton cake decorating supplies. I was very impressed by the massive selection of bulk foods that Bulk Barn carries in their store. What is great about this concept is that you can buy what you need and don't have to buy entire packages of specific ingredients for a recipe. If you need only 1/2 lb of flour, you can buy 1/2 lb of flour and not have to purchase a whole 5 lb bag of flour. The prices here are decent for Canadian standards, but seemed high for an American. Just to note, I've seen much lower prices for many of the same bulk goods sold in the USA, most of which are prepackaged. For example, pine nuts were around $30/lb at Bulk Barn and I can get pine nuts in the USA for about $24 for 1 lb - eight 2 oz packages at $2.99 each. Sam's Club in Bangor ME had pine nuts for $9.93 for 15 oz (in Sept 2012). Pasta (wheat) was over $3/lb at Bulk Barn and pasta is usually around $0.99/lb on sale in the USA. The prices for peanuts and bagged snacks at Bulk Barn seemed pretty reasonable. Also, look out for Bulk Barn sales flyers in the newspapers which have coupons attached (ie. $3 off $10 purchase before taxes).

Save a lot is an awesome store, they have some products that most stores don't have, and the…read moregeneral vibe and ambiance of the store is one of the best parts about it. This store was really good for the power outage that almost lasted an entire day a few months back because they had mostly working power compared to other stores which were closed and without power.
