This wooded boardwalk skirts a nature area, winding part-way around a marshy pond in the southeastern section of O'Fallon's large Winghaven subdivision. A sidewalk continues the walk along the marsh.
The boardwalk is best found by locating the Air Evac headquarters across the street.
It's a wonderful natural teaching area and birdwatching location--especially for ducks and geese.
Though not a long boardwalk it's probably a suitable distance for a busy toddler. The walkway above the marsh is in very good shape and safe for children. Though a larger child might climb over the railings it would be virtually impossible for a small child to work through them.
There's plenty to see and point out in the marsh, which has a different character throughout the seasons.
A gazebo at the western entrance offers a rest spot. Ramps at either end allow wheelchair accessibility.
The marsh is maintained by the MO Department of Conservation while the subdivision maintains the boardwalk. This is not an O'Fallon city park; there are no restroom facilities.
There is no designated area for parking. read more
