Wingfield Pines is a natural area consisting of 87 acres of green-space, wetlands, and hiking trails, owned by the Allegheny Land Trust, for public use. The entrance is across the road from the Upper St. Clair Recreation Center on Mayview Road. There is a small parking area for guests to use, and overflow parking is across the road at the Rec. Center. There is a boardwalk area that crosses through some of the wetlands, where they have a passive mine drainage filtering system, that is pretty impressive. There are several ponds and the property also borders Chartiers Creek. It's a nice place to go for a hike to observe the flora and fauna, and to get out and enjoy nature. Note: Some of the trails can be muddy, so wear boots, and if you are so inclined, there is a landing area for kayaks, and canoes along Chartiers Creek. There are both on-leash and off-leash areas for walking dogs, and they have waste bags for you, if you forgot to bring some. read more
